# Look, everyone else is doing it, ok?
So here's my thing 'that would be a vector if I knew what one was, and is therefore something else instead'.
Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket
It's hosted on scumbucket 'cos b3tards is down, therefore there ain't a CFB yet (which is a shame 'cos I drew pretty much every individual strand of hair on her and at this size it looks like the original photo).

/Long post blog.

Edit: I'm rubbish with html, so here's c&p into your address bar for bigger (not actual size, it's massive): www.b3ta.cr3ation.co.uk/data/jpg/gfvector2.jpg

Edit 2: Ok, for future reference; yes I did actually do this, it is also the first digital thingy I've ever done. Oh, and if it helps anyone out there, I've always been useless at art so you lot have no excuse.

# I don't really understand the point of blunt tracing/vectoring.
as in just simply taking an image and trace/vectoring it without adding any other stylistic things like backgrounds, or without changing anything like colour or shapes.

But pretty much EVERY INDIVIDUAL STRAND OF HAIR? Fucking hell. I admire your persistence and dedication, at least :D

# I feel like a massive loser now.

# People have to spend their time in some way. Why not spend it colouring strands of hair? :D
(, Sun 26 Aug 2007, 23:14, archived)
# It's about the individual's interpretation of the image.
Most of them aren't pixel-perfect traces, but a representation of the shapes and colours of the original, in an aesthetically pleasing form.

Compare the 'vectors' of IVV and mofaha. If they were to do pieces based on the same image, you'd see the differences in style.
(, Sun 26 Aug 2007, 23:15, archived)
# That may be.
But the changes are usually incredibly subtle with direct traces, and nothing interesting or stylistic ends up added - so the image just looks boring.

This is all just my opinion, by the way. It's obvious people like this sort of thing, else they wouldn't do it. I just think things like this could be far better and appeal to far more people with just a few simple changes.

Mofaha's stuff is a good example of traces that look more stylish because of the tweaks he makes to them. Even if it is something as simple as noise.
