# Continuing with the 'real stuff involving 'shopping' theme

that I seem to be on at the mo, I made some fake stained glass for
my front door, using craft shop bought coloured acetates for the
actual door and making some simple printed ones for the top out
of bits found online, 'Shop shapes, and my fave font, Impact, for
the house number.

Stuck on with black insulation tape 'leading'.

Top is 2 prints, under is the final administered look from outside at night.

We look dead posh now, and the taxi driver's got no feckin excuse!

# Literally thought of and knocked together, and administered, in one flurried night of creative zeal
which, um, may or may not have been fueled by a bit of mind expanding recreational activity...

But damned simple to do, so do some of yer own, it's fun and looks way cool, inside and out!

Be wary that one side of printable acetate is a bit sensitive to touch and moisture, so make sure that side (the printed side) is against the glass on the inside and well sealed in so that condensation does not penetrate. And clean your windows well beforehand!

Dunno how long it lasts before sunlight fade sets in tho...

*edit* only prob now is the lower plain ones that I did a week ago don't match now, so considering doing something similar for them...

# Well
from those pics it certainly looks worth it. Now do your whole house !
(, Sat 20 Oct 2007, 11:28, archived)
# I am!
DIY talking at least, having recently accomplished purchasing a ladder, I've been on roofs, applying flashing, re surfacing with bitumen, painting window frames and stonework, damp proofing walls, fixing up the main door, you name it mate!

This house is at least a century old, and it's feeling it.

Got the cellar to take care of next, and parts of that are moving! Wish me luck, I'm going in!
(, Sat 20 Oct 2007, 11:41, archived)
# crikey
good luck

our basement flat is being tanked next week, we are shitting ourselves worrying what they'll find behind the dry lining
(, Sat 20 Oct 2007, 11:48, archived)
# Nothing about this cellar is dry
nor ever will be, and there's no simple treatment for it since they banned lime.

Found something called 'cellar paint', imaginatively enough, that's meant to minimise moisture whilst still allowing some to penetrate and keeping the wall in one piece (you can't just seal it or it just collects behind the paint and bubbles, eventually falling off) which is about all I can find to even try.

# I filled in some holes with Poly filler a couple of weeks ago
...
(, Sat 20 Oct 2007, 12:20, archived)
# Ah yes, praise be for filler!
Wood filler, wall filler, even flat roof filler (looks like black blu-tack) for the bigger holes. If they invented filler dissolver, this house would immediately collapse in a heap, I swear!
(, Sat 20 Oct 2007, 12:25, archived)

# Ning!
If I close the main windows' blinds now, the main room goes multicoloured, esp the shadows! Tonight we're off clubbing and we more often than not have some E-fucked straggler following along at evenings end to partake of our Absinthe and doss down on our biggest couch for the night, so this will be greeting him in the morning! Should mess with his head well! LOL!

My mum had a thing for stain glass.

I have'nt been clubbing since the smoking ban, I just cant imaine not being able to roll a fat doobie (slang for innocent cigarete :P).
I really have that wintertime urge though, I used to love clubbing this time of year!

# Oh I want that!!
We just threw away a 16 colour projection panel meant for an overhead projector 'cos we could not for the life of us think of any way of using it.

For a set off we couldn't find any tech old enough to join with it that actually still worked adequately to operate it!

Damn shame tho, we had high hopes when we first acquired it, but it turned out it was basically just more old crap for the cellar to grow mould on till we threw it...

I WANT ELECTRO LUMINESCENT HANGING WINDOW BLINDS!! They'd provide privacy AND light up the room!

If they can make me T-Shirts, they can make me those!
(, Sat 20 Oct 2007, 11:54, archived)
# sounds like it wanted a cga card

christ I have too much old crap
(, Sat 20 Oct 2007, 13:41, archived)
# You want it?
The bins don't go till Monday, it's wrapped in plastic, we can still pull it back out!

Gaz me before then if you do (or if anyone else does) but be warned, the postage will probably be in the area of about £10.

I hate chuckin workin tech, but eventually, you need the space more.
(, Sat 20 Oct 2007, 14:02, archived)
# hmm actually
maybe I could use that, does it have a 9pin connector on it?

no I'd better not, I'd just be accumulating more stuff.

have you not tried freecycle to get rid of unwanted working stuff before?

# It was a very simple one.
I was carrying a few bottles into my mate's room when one of them slipped from my hand. It landed directly on my second toe (top down).
Cue me jumping around like a loon shouting some very colourful words while everybody else laughs at me.

The worst thing was it was the start of the night and I was sober.

I now have a dark purple toe and a bad limp.
