I'm trying to do a sketch a day for at least a week, maybe more. Today is day 1, Marilyn Manson.
Critique is much appreciated. :]

Also, listened to those albums yet?

I'm just back to school from break, and trying to make sure all my work is caught up because the marking period is ending.

I know there are other ways to earn money weekly, but they usually put you at risk of arrest. :-(

Why are you leaving? Are you going to become an outlaw? :D

In reality, I've reached that stage of life, where if I don't go experience the world, I never would.
It's far too easy to get into a comfort zone, when you have regular work and no pressing concerns.

okay. I'd looooove to go to Australia. And New Zealand. And backpacking/couch surfing across Europe (which my cousin did).
I'm gonna do it when I get into uni. :D

myself, i know how hard it is- and how photos somehow steer it all wrong.
The mouth and teeth are excellent but the lower face is all wrong.
Proportions are good though; although the nose is a little long.
My advice: Pick a better model to practice on!

mofaha suggested him, and I figured everyone knows what he looks like, so if I fuck it up, at least people know who I was trying for. x]

But if you really want to draw people; draw people, not freaks. When you get THEM right, try the exotic. I've given up for now doing portraits. The good ones looked like i had overdosed on filters and the bad ones looked...bad.

it's just like...I'm asking for general help. I'm sure plenty of people think he's a freak, but really he isn't. I have the utmost respect for him as a musician and he is a human.
I don't think, when I'm asking for advice on how to improve, that opinions on the person themself really help me, y'know?
I didn't mean to sound pissy or anything. Sorry.

And after this post i really am off to bed.
I don't know the guy from Adam; I've seen him on telly. But he looks wierd. Good for him etc. I wanted to too when i was 15. But that wasn't the point.
You want to get better at art. As you know, I happen to think you are quite good at it.
THE POINT: If you attempt to draw a subject that already looks a little odd to the average human, then your art will look odd plus a factor of 5, or more. This works in Japan. If you want to draw, as in DRAW people, start with fred next door, not Pete Burns or whatever his name is.
Anyway Bed nite etc.

The eyes are too high though, lower them and it'll help your proportions seem more accurate.

that I know. What happened was that once I placed the eyes, I realized I hadn't made his face long enough, so I extended it, and forgot to move the eyes down.
We're doing portraits in Art right now, too. Mine isn't coming along too bad, but I haven't done the facial features yet.

you seem to have put in a lot of detail into the mouth and not a lot elsewhere, but other than that it looks fine.

Oh, okay. It was like...the mouth looked weird without much detail. Iunno. But alright. Thank you :]

start with some still lifes... i know it's cliched, but start with a bunch of bottles. It quickly becomes apparent that most things back be drawn by breaking them down into smaller, simpler objects. I'm not particularly good at the whole art thing, but you should have seen the crap i drew before.
Also, you may want to start with charcoal. It's cheap, and it's messy, and you can't really get the definition you can out of pencil, but it lets you focus on getting the shapes right.
