Hello, it is the week before my 29th birthday and as I can't do the weekend of my birthday due to my best friend's birthday being then as well (we have a big girlie twatty night out, you get the idea), I thought I'd move the fun, booze, frolics and b3tans forward a week. I'll still be 28, but it'll be my birthday shindig.
Any takers?Probably the Golden Cross, its my favourite favourite pub in town but they've fucked it up big time. So now it'll be at The Old Windmill on Spon Street.
Limited crash space. That Druid should be living in Coventry then too so I'm volunteering his house for crash space too!
Druid's house sale probably won't be completed by then and so the crash space is extremely limited.
The Old Windmill, Coventry
Blue Star's Birthday Bash - Coventry (obviously)
Going: Blue Star, FoldsFive, mns, Malchick, Wicca'd Witch, Rotating Wobbly Hat, jenpots, Rubymurray, The Mock TurtIe, Druid, manolith, TheFallGuy, Bingowings, Pooflake, Captain Placid, gianthead, Wildheart Baby., Bou : (18 people).
And I'll crash at yours or the mono-browed ones, as longs as I get to sleep with a man.

/EDIT - should be definite as my Nanna doesn't want a big party and instead wants to go out for a meal! :D

Plus I never got to meet rotatingwobblyhat at Dr. When's bash even though we were both in the same tiny dungeon.
No crash space unfortunately. I sleep near the bins at the back of the D&T.

You're not missing much, by the way...

I never got any of them. A lady stuffed most of them in her gub and I was too shy to prise any of them out.

Having been sort of invited by Mr wobbly hat I am going to try and get down and maybe get funky in dear old Coventry. Will be nice to see the place again as I was a student there many years ago.
Be nice to me or I'll cry.

The only person in danger of not being nice to you is the grumpy bar manager in t'cross...

The one that used to work in the Campbell?

I remember that pub. Oh! memories are flooding back now.

looks like she would be quite attractive if she smiled, alas seems to object to people getting on and having a good time. Insisted we get up and move chairs unneccessarily, huffs loudly, fails to get marshall the other staff to work when there's 5 at the bar and they're sitting at the side having a chat with their mates, puts the jukebox off and a tape on when your money's already in the machine. Oh, and accepted a drink from me once with the charm of by blankly saying 'THANKS' without the tiniest hint of gratitude.
But I digress...everyone else was most fluffy especially considering the frankly offensive fancy dress selection that we were dressed up as on Hallowe'ens past...

Big Girl's Blouse has informed me of this B3ta bash on the stomping ground of my old band!
*reminisces*
Do you mind if I join you good folk?

Can anyone recommend a cheap hotel or BB near the festivities.

I'll have a snoop about the town this weekend and see what's up
The Leofric is very city-centre but very steep, even if you share. The Campanile is very nice but miles out of the centre. The Chase Corus is good value if you use Laterooms.com and get the discount but about a 10 minute taxi ride away. The Allesly hotel looks nice but I've never been in it yet- can take a glance this weekend. I believe the Formule 1 hotel (very cheap but somewhat like a prison ship) is now closed. The Ramada Skyscraper might work if you can get 2 to a room- again Laterooms.com have it down as £65 for a double or twin. Make sure you book more than a week before as I've seen the prices start to come back up the closer you get to the date... I've got to get up early the next day and drive down to Cornwall so crash space in the house of Wobbly Hats won't be easily available (plus I live fecking MILES out of town, practically on the M6. Will post more detail once I have done research.

I could offer crash space at my place, and as I don't drink much I'll probably drive too!

I'm genuinely upset! I signed up, thinking that it'd be fine. Then I just checked my diary in a quiet moment at work & found something already written where your name was going to be :(
I'm gutted! We'll have to meet up some other time soon. It's been ages again!
That's an excellent crowd you've got lined up, too :(
It's POSSIBLE that I may be able to join you fairly late, but not likely, sadly.

Ramada hotel is doing a double or twins now for £49 if you book through Laterooms.com and due to the venue change to the Windmill it is now also very close- if you can find someone to bunk up with (or are already a couple) then you get a lot of hotel room for your £24.75...
www.laterooms.com/en/hotel-reservations/91925_ramada-hotel-and-suites-coventry-city-centre-coventry.aspx
As previously mentioned the closer you get to the date with Laterooms the more the price starts to slide up so get in there quick if you want to book....
