Can anyone recommend a better news site than the Beeb please?
This utter shambles of an article - (two people I don't care about having an argument on Twitter) was the top ranked story earlier. It doesn't even link to the argument in question.
I've got to the point where I think I'm willing to pay if the site is any good.

Use a news aggregator

I use Flipboard quite a bit.

That's not a bad call actually
I already use Feedly for RSS feeds. It wouldn't be much more of a stretch to use that.

Oh dear
BBC has gone downhill badly in recent times with little real news content and more and more pointless non-celeb fluff and bollocks

That's not BBC news
That's newsbeat, the 'youth' based news. So that is relevant to their interests. The fact it's popular shows how they cater for everyone.

Doesn't explain why the output is such garbage
or why these "stories" are intermingled with actual news front and centre on the BBC news homepage.
See also the Philip Pullman book plug right there at the moment.

It's amazing how much the BBC dominates and sets the news agenda.
Some actor leaves a kids' TV show (Dr. Who) and somehow that becomes a widely covered national news story. Same deal when some Z lister joins the cast of Eastenders. Load of shite cunts.

True. You never get Coronation Street,
X Factor or Big Brother stories on the front pages.

I see your point
but those stories are almost exclusively the preserve of red tops such as The Sun, Star, Mirror. That Dr. Who story was covered in The Times, Telegraph and Guardian. It was a lead Headline on the Today program every hour.

They all have plenty of stories
speculating about the next Bond. Dr Who is culturally pretty similar.

I thought Rod McKenzie being a patronising drip going for lowest-common-denominator "news" summed it up.
Only surpassed by John Craven.

I don't read a news site to be entertained
I read it to be informed & edumacated.

I am interested in Piers...
...but only if it is news that he is going to be put through an industrial meat grinder broadcast live on Sky Arts.

Are people loyal to news sites beyond who they follow on social media?
I just look at Google news to get an overview of them all. It also has the benefit that you can add your own categories, and remove the sport.
