This is a normal post The Jonathan Pie character isn't good enough to be a comedian,
and not good enough to be the hard-hitting social commentator he aspires to be. Frankly, he's just not good enough.

This is a normal post Did your last comedy tour outsell his?
Is your satire more critically approved?

I'm not a fan but he's significantly funnier than several other professional comedians, and much less of a cunt than Francis Wheen, Ian Hislop, or John Sessions.

This is a normal post What's Ian Hislop done to deserve being called a cunt?
From what I've seen he's consistently held up a mirror to those in power, whoever they are, and repeatedly put himself in the legal firing line in the process. Sure, I can see he might be irritating to some people but that doesn't make him a cunt IMO.
I might be missing something, in which case I'm genuinely interested what it is!

This is a normal post As entertaining as I find him, he’s very much a one trick pony.
It’s the same situation with Nerine Skinner, a.k.a. Liv Struss/Navine Borries; the Tories are out so now they’ll need to change their acts.

In the case of the latter she can switch to Rayner or Phillips (she’s already done some videos in these personae) but Pie will struggle without a target so universally hated as the Tories.

This is a normal post Private Eye still sells well under Labour.
Pie is not a Labour character, he gets flabbergasted by corruption, lies and incompetence. Labour are capable of providing him ample material, but hopefully less criminal and fascistic.

This is a normal post I wouldn't ever argue that Mcintyre isn't an annoying shit.
But if you claimed he wasn't good enough to be a comedian then I could simply point to his success to prove your claim to be false.

This is a normal post I reckon he's been on point for most of the tory omnishambles
and he's cut through for a mostly short video consuming generation that some of the old satirical mainstays like private eye no longer can. It's his videos that are getting widely shared around this election, not other comedians. People are familiar with the "off-camera reporter" conceit, and can just enjoy his take.
As to his predicted demise now the tories are smashed, people made similar predictions about the crowded gaggle of american late night satire hosts when trump lost, kimmel and that bloke who does a closer look et al, but they're all still around

This is a normal post He does this thing where he gives off the attitude of being furiously engaged in politics
but at the same time is very careful to not say anything his (centrist/mainstream) audience will bristle at, for example he will always say "populism" rather than "fascism" because you'll get pearl-clutching if anyone says anyone else in politics or the media (or voters!) is fascist or racist.

This is a normal post Some people have used the word "fasicst" as a meaningless insult, this does not mean that fascism is not a real force in action or a real threat.
Umberto Eco's list of fascist traits is useful on this point - www.faena.com/aleph/umberto-eco-a-practical-list-for-identifying-fascists

This is a normal post He's explicitly saying that the conservative party or even "hard right populists" are absolutely not white supremacists/fascists here.
Based on
* Boris was twice voted mayor of London (so what?)
* They care about Brexit (so what?)
* People voted for JRM and it "fans the flames of division" to suggest that they "voted for a nazi by mistake" (this is exactly the pearl-clutching I was talking about)

This is a normal post It'll be interesting to see how long some folk keep up the Labour arselicking
Before conceding that they're just as self-serving and incompetent as the Tories they're replacing.
Rayner the Usurper's first proper go at knocking Starmer out of office should start the ball rolling, I reckon.

Also, I've just put £500 down on Kemi Badenoch to replace Rishi Sunack. I'm convinced that the Tories will see putting a relatively young black woman in the driving seat as being a 100% surefire way to win over young voters as Labour flounder under the suffocating weight of 'Great British Energy' and the fact they'll have fuck all money to do anything without raising everybody's taxes.
The £1200 might take some of the sting out of that for a month or two. For me, at least.

This is a normal post Politics is one of the few bloodsports still allowed.
I'd prefer a more boring politics where people fixed stuff rather than jockeying for position most of the time. Fighting culture wars and thinly disguised corruption should be left to the Americans, we have our own British class system to oppress each other with.

Kemi got the least number of backers in the last leadership spill, knocked out in the first round. Glad it's your money, though given all the scratchings I guess she's in with a chance

This is a normal post I disagree. :)
The right's emphasis on loyalty and unity leads to mindless uniformity and blind faith in their ideological authorities. Leftist philosophy attempts a more scientific approach. Think of the bickering as peer review, or active error testing and correcting.

...the social cohesiveness required for a party usually leads to tribalistic groups which then define their identity by infighting and hampering progress; See also competitiveness.
