This is a link post Jumper gets taunted by crowd
I'm going straight to hell for this one, but I read this story and cracked up laughing.

For me the comment "How far can you bounce" is just comedy gold.

More reportage, and a n ITN video report [SFW] is available.

This is a normal post People who find this funny and those who goaded him.....
find a place in my categorical loathing between a rapist and the dried spit in the corner of a dog's mouth.

Let's see how funny Yarblesnake finds it should ever have a family member tormented this way.

Fail.

This is a normal post Hmm...dunno if i found this one funny.
Saw the story running originally, and at the risk of sounding like a Mail or Express journo....You have to wonder what the world is coming to when people act like that...

...then again, the story makes it sound like people stood around for ages like a mob, but the reality is probably that one bell-end shouted it, and the police went and got him to fuck off straight away.

This is a normal post Certainly a more measured response than I was expecting.
I found the links from a puff-piece article on the Grauniad which was banging on about how absolutely appalling and sickening it was. I just feel the needless sensationalism of the articles was at least equally cheapening of the event.

Well granted it was unpleasant behaviour, but I still found it funny in a gallows-humour style.

Though I'm loath to ascribe groupthink to b3ta, this is still a site where Madeleine McCann jokes are still posted pretty much every week; where the Falling Man motivator made an FP; where the Asian Tsunami was the subject of much joking and where I read a hilarious QOTW response about someone getting hit by a tube train.

I'm happy to delete the thread if anyone feels particularly strongly about this - I just thought that there's normally a fairly twisted streak to the boards.

This is a normal post I'm not judging you, dude...
I'm not shocked, appalled, or offended.

I simply don't agree that it's funny. And yes, it takes a lot on these boards to offend.

I think in that circumstance I would retreat from the edge of the building and find as many heavy objects to throw at the pig ignorant pricks taunting someone for their illness. It would probably turn my mood around. Why kill yourself, when you can kill them? :D

Really feel for the poor family of this lad aswell. To think in your son's last moments he was being goaded into death, i cant imagine how much worse that makes the situation for them.

Suicides a fucked up thing. and even if the person was goading them because they thought it was a cry for help or what ever. Those circumstances are awfull aswell. When some one feels so lost, that they cant see a solution, only one they dont truly want to go through with. Thats a shit situation to be in

This is a normal post If I do, you have my full approval to laugh at the ridiculousness at my demise.
That is all. Now fuck off.

You didn't know the chap, odds are you were never influenced by him, and he chose to end his life in a ridiculous manner.

Want a tragedy? Look at the people who die of malaria every single year. This is a disease that could be treated pretty damn easily.

The above isn't a tragedy, it's some overcosseted twat in an industrialised nation unable to withstand a couple of knocks.

Ah - to hell with it. Internet white knights to the rescue of a dead guy. Good luck with that.

This is a normal post I just cant find this funny
I just felt so sorry for the poor lad. To be that desperate and for thats guys last moments to be filled with cock ends calling for his death is just horrific and a sad reflection on our society.

I will agree though that there is a fine line, especially on B3TA, between what tragedy people generally find comedy in and what people find offensive. I guess it does come down to each individual.

This is a normal post How many times?
None.

I thought I'd offer it as an act of contrition if there was sufficient, and reasoned argument therefore. All that has been forthcoming is of little substance.

Kung Fu Ross gets a mention, as he approached the subject with reason - rather than knee-jerk emotional reactions. Not that I'm accusing you of that - just reporting on the general theme of the thread.

Mushroom posits an interesting point - whether it's a normal aspect of behaviour to behave so callously. They reference an event where a disabled woman was urinated on, and who subsequently died. Their argument - the extent of our retained humanity _is_ interesting - and with nearly 7 billion of us on the planet this may be critical to our survival.

I like phoenixblend's point about the difference between passively observing after the event (which, in a sense is what this thread is) and actively encouraging it to happen. I'll need to think about that.

And Lord Turkey Boy, for your call for restraint is applauded. I'm not suggesting you found this funny, but your reminder that we all have different levels of that which we consider tasteless, is applauded.

Fuckit. Captain Pilchard... I've been ignored? Boo hoo and screw yourself.

you can say hello to the ignoure button. he was 17 years old, and that was a terrible way to die. the police should of arrested or fined the people who encouraged the poor kid.

This is a normal post just a thought..
if he had launched himself under a train, or of a motorway bridge, causing you to be late for work or some other important thing- how would you feel then?
no need to post an answer, as i know most peoples first reaction (if we are honest) would be "the selfish bastard". the baying crowd is no different to you or i. it is unpalletable, but it is a fact of life. the real tradgedy is that depression is stigmatised and sufferers sometimes have to take this way out.
