This is a normal post well yes
but australia's population started with a high proportion of indigenous peoples, which our colonial forebears did their british best to eradicate. it was bound to abrade the nipples of our collective psyche eventually.

Being as horrible as possible to the indigenous people is practically a given for any European Empire building. But on top of that, the whole transporting the “worst“ of British Society has a “Hitchhiker’s B-Ark” ring to it.

This is a normal post Youtube
is a media outlet.

The etymology of the word television has a mixed Latin and Greek origin, meaning "far sight": Greek tele, far, and Latin visio, sight.

If you watch images remotely from where they are stored, that's television. YouTube is television.

Fucking idiots, they could have sold those television sets and bought beer.

I had to take an uber a couple of days ago due to a minor emergency - the driver had a lot of very surprising and intelligent opinions about COVID and lockdown in general. Turns out every doctor, nurse and epidemiologist in the world is an idiot, but this guy understood it all. Short summary: Lockdown is bad, COVID is harmless, it's all a global conspiracy to do... something? I guess? something something something population control?

Anyway, he convinced me that COVID-19 isn't really dangerous because he got it a few weeks ago and it turned out fine. And it turns out everything they say about it was a lie because his symptoms were completely different! He didn't have a fever or a dry cough - It was kinda like just having the flu! Actually, weirdly, exactly the same.

Phew, I'm lucky he happened to pick me up otherwise I would have carried on blindly sucking on the teat of mainstream media forever.

This is a link post Centuries of Sound - 1924 I made this!

Every month I post a mix of original recordings from a single year. This time I've done it a little differently, as 1924 is the year of Rhapsody in Blue - the mix is sandwiched between the two halves of the piece in order to give it the scope to explore all the music going on at the time, and I wrote a longish piece to go with it.

As ever, free to stream and download. Please share with anyone who you think would be into this sort of thing, help the project survive!

This is a normal post A lot of this is down to the limitations of recording - we are right at the end of the acoustic era, these sounds were all etched by being channeled down a horn onto a membrane with a stylus.
You'll find the 1927 first electrical recording a bit more familiar - www.youtube.com/watch?v=wrafY5ILDBo
