Maybe rather than have Add Friend after every post by a user,
have the option only available in their profile?

A bracket filter for /talk.
So that when people type this
:(((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((((
it gets truncated to
:(
Also, given the recent turn of events, a Boudicca filter may be in order.

Think Pad
I think it would be excellent if I had somewhere I could write down ideas I have, it would be great if you could make a private space for us to do this, so it can be carried around from Work to home unlike when you use notepad or something similar!
:D
[edit] Ok, I'll try that, thanks.

It'll be nice to see the b3ta awards come back for this year,
it's been a good few years from the last.

How about an automatic Compobot?
What it would do:
- Generate an hourly thread for compo entries.
- This would be the only thread where it was possible to select 'Image Challenge Entry' from the drop-down list.
Benefits:
- The board wouldn't move quite so fast on new compo day as they would all be in the same thread - thus preserving conversations, not pushing things off the board etc.
- All the reposts would automatically be in an existing thread instead of a new one.
- All the grumpy buggers who hate the compo could just hide the thread when it appears or put Compobot on ignore.

I still think there should be a
'see the most popular suggestions' on the image challenge suggestion board like there is on the compo itself. That way the good ideas would bubble to the top more easily and you could clear out a load of the dross at the bottom of the list on a regular basis.
I reckon this would make it more likely that people would look and vote on image challenge suggestions.

Oh, and being able to reply to replies
Like the talk board. I don't suggest any alteration to the purposes of the talk board or to QOTW, but sometimes you want to reply to a previous reply

Something that alerts you when you have replies to QOTW posts ***EDIT: Maybe this would have to be turned on or off in the profile too - I expect some people check regularly, I tend to post stuff then forget***
Also, does clicking on '1 Reply' (or whatever) have to take you to a new page? Couldn't it be a minimise/maximise kind of thing? So replies are automatically hidden (or automatically shown, with your preference set in your profile) but there is a 'Show replies' option?

Would it be possible
to have a message sent to your gaz inbox when someone posts a reply to one of your messages? Or to have another link which says "You have X replies" which you can click and it takes you to your posts?
Otherwise you have to check your posts every so often to see if anyone's posted a reply.
I think that's how it works anyway, as no-one's replied to one of mine yet :-(
Oh, and what about removing the "Post Your Own Story" link from the reply page, as it infers you are posting a reply, when in fact it's producing a new QOTW board posting. I know this now, having made the mistake once, but it's not immediately obvious.
Other than that, this new feature is great. I love it. Praise be to the great b3ta code johnnies.

Not sure about this one because I probably haven't thought it through
but I don't think that the replies to posts should show in your personal profile. They can kind of look irrelevant on it (like when you do crap 'answer' posts that don't make much sense when you see them on their own - which I would imagine is one of the things this new idea is out to prevent? - and I know I'm as guilty as anybody for doing this). Perhaps the 'reply' section of the post itself could go green after you have replied? - like it does when you click 'I like this'. Maybe that would be more appropriate?
But what do I know? You guys are way cleverer than little old pooflake

Caption Contest!
Every tuesday a new image is put up, to which b3tards have to put an amusing caption. At the end of the week the best go in a popular list, exactly like QoTW/Image Challenge!

qotw replies: a fantastic idea
now we can belittle other people's posts without clogging up the main qotw board! ;-)

What about..
..integrating the /talk and QOTW boards?
It night (a)actually give the /talk board a vaguely creative aspect and (b)discourage the 'player letter column element of QOTW as they might think twice about posting a load of illiterate lies if they're getting flamed for it by tetchy weekday /talkers.

How about a search feature for the Calendar?
