Saturday evening generic thread
I'll just leave this here in case anyone turns up...
(, Sat 2 Apr 2011, 20:07, 104 replies, latest was 15 years ago)
I'm about
sort of. Good day?
(, Sat 2 Apr 2011, 20:11, Reply)
And how was your day?
I spent the early morning faffing in the kitchen then went out and walked for nine miles. Gorgeous day in the end, lovely walk too. Now I'm considering passing out quite soon, I've been up since half four.
(, Sat 2 Apr 2011, 20:14, Reply)
Meh, was alright I suppose
well no, it was good and springy and sunshiney and relaxed apart from the ongoing boy thing.
Half four?!
(, Sat 2 Apr 2011, 20:17, Reply)
I know, I woke up and turned over and had a drum and bass melody running around my head.
Tried for half an hour to get back to sleep then the kid downstairs woke up and that was game over.
(, Sat 2 Apr 2011, 20:25, Reply)
drum n bass 'melody'?
these are not words that go easily together.
(, Sat 2 Apr 2011, 20:28, Reply)
Shush you.

(, Sat 2 Apr 2011, 20:42, Reply)
Not bad, mostly
Although we've just had a chinese, and I am now suffering very greatly. It has become abundantly clear to me recently that I cannot process MSG. My middle hurts. *sadface*

I'm working on it with large amounts of water, but I'm wondering if alcohol might be a better idea....
(, Sat 2 Apr 2011, 20:18, Reply)
Drown it with booze
it's definitely the way forward. And maybe some rennies or something?
(, Sat 2 Apr 2011, 20:19, Reply)
In the long term the remedy is going to have to be no more chineses ever
For the moment, mr b3th's big baggy sweatpants and a comfy chair are as good as it gets.
(, Sat 2 Apr 2011, 20:20, Reply)
That's lame :(
chineses are one of the best of all the takeaways. Why can't you tolerate MSG?
(, Sat 2 Apr 2011, 20:21, Reply)
I don't know
but it's happened enough and with such regularity and speed, that I know it must be the food that's causing the problem. Apparently a lot of people have this reaction to MSG. Over the last year or so I've also become a bit funny with lactose.

My dad's a coeliac, so it could be worse. At least I can eat bread. Lovely, lovely, yummy bread...
(, Sat 2 Apr 2011, 20:25, Reply)
Is MSG not just generally a bit bad for you anyway?
Other than the fact that it makes things mega-tasty.
(, Sat 2 Apr 2011, 20:28, Reply)
probably
but it's the tasty tasty part that usually wins out.

No more, though. I have to admit defeat.
(, Sat 2 Apr 2011, 20:34, Reply)
Last I heard
Was that MSG is a neurotoxin. So, if you think about it, your immune system is doing the right thing by reacting to it.

I might be wrong though.

Probably not though.

Evening all
I ended up going for a drive up into the valleys today, then back down to the coast. Awesome views, and a ridiculous road that wouldn't have been out of place in the alps.
(, Sat 2 Apr 2011, 20:28, Reply)
Evening all.
Anyone around?
(, Sat 2 Apr 2011, 22:57, Reply)
I'm watching Match of the Day
and drinking a bottle of Cab Sauv Zinfandel.

Edit: Arsenal - Blackburn was a shit game, how on earth is it that early in MotD if there isn't a London bias?
(, Sat 2 Apr 2011, 22:58, Reply)
I've got MOTD on at the mo.
Have your lot been on yet?
(, Sat 2 Apr 2011, 23:00, Reply)
Not yet
reading the various reports interestingly Sky thought our 1st penalty was correct and our 2nd was wrong, but BBC thought the opposite.

I thought we deserved 4 or 5 penalties.

We're on now!
(, Sat 2 Apr 2011, 23:02, Reply)
So I see!
Good atmosphere today?
(, Sat 2 Apr 2011, 23:03, Reply)
Fantastic
BBC just skipped over 3 or 4 first half chances for us where we made Pool look amateur.

Edit: they made it look like Liverpool made a game of it, they were shit from start to finish.
(, Sat 2 Apr 2011, 23:05, Reply)
Keeper should have had a red.

(, Sat 2 Apr 2011, 23:07, Reply)
I KNOW
we said that. And Carroll should have, he got a yellow and then gave away 3 or 4 more fouls - we were wondering what you actually have to do to get sent off in a Liverpool shirt.
(, Sat 2 Apr 2011, 23:12, Reply)
Either way, it's 3 points.
And moves you further away from relegation woes. With the season coming to a close, you might be better off with Liverpool having fewer suspended players if they are playing any of your immediate rivals.
(, Sat 2 Apr 2011, 23:15, Reply)
They do have to play Birmingham, Fulham and Villa
who are all below us. I'd like Bham and Villa to stay up though, if they can.
(, Sat 2 Apr 2011, 23:20, Reply)
But not Fulham? Barry won't be happy.
Buy him a jacket to make it up to him.
(, Sat 2 Apr 2011, 23:25, Reply)
Fulham can fuck off
A Premier League where West Ham and Fulham have gone down would leave more Midlands clubs than London clubs in the top division.

I would spend the entirety of the 2011/12 season grinning like a mong every time the BBC were forced to mention that through their gritted teeth.
(, Sat 2 Apr 2011, 23:35, Reply)
I'd rather Fulham or West Ham stayed up than QPR got promoted.
*Warnock issues*
(, Sat 2 Apr 2011, 23:37, Reply)
Well yes
OBVIOUSLY football would be the only winner if Neil Warnock was struck by lightning and staggered in front of an 18-wheeler and then caught fire.

I was happy to see Kevin Phillips score, he's one of those journeyman professionals you're happy to see do well even after he leaves your club.
(, Sat 2 Apr 2011, 23:40, Reply)
And the Prem runs the risk of having Welsh clubs involved next season.
And do you want THAT to happen?
(, Sat 2 Apr 2011, 23:49, Reply)
Yes.
6 points each, job done.

Spent today recovering
I was at a beer festival from 12 noon until 12 midnight on Thursday, and 12 noon to 1am on Friday. Today I'm doing nothing, and tomorrow I finally get to pack my incredibly irritating flatmates back off to Lithuania, before going down to Birmingham to play in the UK student poker championships.

(, Sun 3 Apr 2011, 0:38, Reply)
there are no dice in larp, silly
I hit people with swords and pole arms and shouted at them about releasing me from a barrow or something
(, Sun 3 Apr 2011, 0:40, Reply)
So how does it work. How do you know what you're supposed to be doing?

(, Sun 3 Apr 2011, 0:41, Reply)
well we were the monsters
so the refs tell us our stats, someone paints your face, then you go fight someone. If you're a player, you just do what your character would do
(, Sun 3 Apr 2011, 0:43, Reply)
Is it a game or acting out a scene?

(, Sun 3 Apr 2011, 0:44, Reply)
a game
as the monster you get told the kind of thing you need to do/say and the players react to it. Usually you just get killed, but they were very nice to the Crone character I played despite me insulting them and shouting at their king
(, Sun 3 Apr 2011, 0:46, Reply)
glad you had fun
I'm back home now
(, Sun 3 Apr 2011, 0:47, Reply)
where've you been, today?

(, Sun 3 Apr 2011, 0:48, Reply)

I feel like every bone in my body has been kicked around a football field
(, Sun 3 Apr 2011, 1:01, Reply)

(, Sun 3 Apr 2011, 1:02, Reply)

As a sport-ignorant person
I shall assume this is funny and satirical

anyway, how are you, jeff?
(, Sun 3 Apr 2011, 0:56, Reply)
I'm okay thanks Captain.
I went to the pub, went to football and then went to the pub again.

I'm delighted that I feel tired this evening, normally, I'm still wide awake at this point, but I reckon that within 30 minutes, it'll be bed time.

How is your microwave oven treating you?
(, Sun 3 Apr 2011, 0:58, Reply)
I'm all a bit hyper from all the fresh air and running about
I've made a lot of microwave rice in the microwave. It's marvelous stuff. Two minutes and RICE! awesome. Also, I've got hot chocolate to warm me up, it was cold in that there forest
(, Sun 3 Apr 2011, 1:00, Reply)
You need to get some of this in Crunchmeister.

It is a fantastic warm 'nommy' snack.

(, Sun 3 Apr 2011, 1:14, Reply)
oh yeah - someone in the monster room was singing that, too
it's quite a larp song
(, Sun 3 Apr 2011, 1:15, Reply)
Is there a larp play-list?
(And what is a Monster Room?)
(, Sun 3 Apr 2011, 1:20, Reply)
the monster room is where the monsters hang out, get into kit, get painted, etc.
I've made loads of LARP tapes, CDs and playlists (you can tell how long I've been doing this nonsense by the recording media). My favourites were the Arockalypse Now compilation and the double album It Was A Time of War and It Was A Time Of Heroes. I've got the first one on spotify, but not the others yet. Many other CDs and tapes are lost in the midst of time, or in the glove compartment of whoever's car I was in when I last had them
(, Sun 3 Apr 2011, 1:24, Reply)
Are you always a monster?

(, Sun 3 Apr 2011, 1:26, Reply)
no, you decide when you go
usually it's free to monster, but you have to book and pay to play. This one was nearby so we just went for today, the whole event is all weekend.

RIght, I think i'm about to crash, night night
