I'm not a slut
mostly lack of opportunity rather than any moral code, however.

QUESTION: If I have a beef in beer slowcooker recipe that I like, and I substitute pork for beef and cider for beer, will that work? Or is pork in cider completely different?

Alt: What's your favourite casserole/stew/cassoulet/meat in sauce?
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 9:49, 72 replies, latest was 15 years ago)
I have no idea to the first question.
If I have to pick a meat, it'd be satay chicken.
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 10:29, Reply)
Sounds like it would work.
Actually it sounds like it would work very well.
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 10:35, Reply)
I might chuck an apple in too
just a little one chopped up.
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 10:36, Reply)
well if it's awful you know for sure that it doesn't work.
and you can try to find a recipe that does?
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 10:37, Reply)
I've got a great recipe for pork in cider
You get the pork and season lightly, bit of salt and pepper. Put it in the pot and then coat in a good inch of cider, then throw in a bay leaf and bring to a light simmer.

Simmer gently for a few hours until the meat just pulls apart, then throw it out because cider is fucking rank what the hell are you doing I don't even know.
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 10:50, Reply)
traditional innit
pork = cider. Presumably people wouldn't have been doing it for centuries if it was awful.
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 10:56, Reply)
People have been having children for centuries and children are unilaterally awful
Your argument is terrible, people in general are terrible, I want off.
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 10:58, Reply)
You want off
I will get you off.
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 11:07, Reply)
About fucking time
Get to

Hang on
I'm a people and I'm terrible. I have no jurisdiction here.
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 11:10, Reply)
I don't care about your jurisdiction, just 1) stop being terrible and 2) get to

(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 11:14, Reply)
OK
I will go and get my gun.
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 11:15, Reply)
Fucking right

(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 11:17, Reply)
I think Pork in Cider is a bit more of a delicate flavour, so I'm not sure if you'd want root vegetables, etc in there

(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 11:14, Reply)
Well, I do have a carrot and a parsnip and a leek that'll probably go in whatever I make
and an onion now that I think about it.

Maybe I'll do a lamb stew instead. Just didn't want to do beef in beer again as I've already got some of that in the freezer.
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 11:35, Reply)
why has no one made a joke around the fact that
pork in cider sounds like pork in side her?

damnit, is there no sunday morning filth round here?

(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 12:21, Reply)
I'm about to make a massive sausage casserole.
I don't have any massive sausages but I do have three packs. I've never made one before - at which point do I add the human hand?
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 12:32, Reply)
after the testicles

(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 12:34, Reply)
DAMNIT
*treks off to Tesco for testicles*
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 12:37, Reply)
I thought you had your own?
you use them like teabags
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 12:40, Reply)
Repeatedly, til they're dried out and flavourlesss?

(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 12:42, Reply)
that's the best way to get the flavour out

(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 12:48, Reply)
Well it's doing.
Sausages, onion, garlic, red pepper, butter beans, three tins of chopped tomatoes, testes, small potatoes, chick peas and bay leaves, with basil to chop and drop in when it's done.
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 13:45, Reply)
Sounds delicious
I've not really tried making a sausage casserole, I just tend to jump to actual chunks of meat when I'm deciding what to make. I do like a good SosCas though, hmmm...
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 14:12, Reply)
yeah
well I've got supernoodles boiling right now
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 14:16, Reply)
Why not just suck some cardboard and punch yourself in the stomach?

(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 14:20, Reply)
because that wouldn't be curry flavoured

(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 14:38, Reply)
OH MY DEAR SWEET CRUNCHY !
When are you going to move out of that trap of a hell hole you live in and move near me so I can feed you delicious and wonderful, strange and unusual concoctions ?!?!?!?
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 14:33, Reply)
Best offer ever!!!

(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 14:34, Reply)
You too !
Please uproot your entire life so I can cook for you on a regular baseis. They have started selling Crawfish in the fishmongers, big ones, they're like 1/4 size lobsters. That's going to be my next buy, probably next weekend. Donno what to do with them yet, but I'll come up with something.
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 14:36, Reply)
just as soon as you can arrange for
photography lecturers near you to 'disappear' in freak accidents
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 14:36, Reply)
I did photography at collage for about 3 months but then I had to move back'n'forth to cyprus so I missed out loads and ended up not doing it.
I loved it, if I win the lotto, I'm getting my own dark room. It's an amazing feeling when you put it into the second tray and the picture comes up.

There are plenty of collages and universities and schools in north london... surely one of them would take you on?
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 14:43, Reply)
It's the first tray when it appears, though
darkrooms are the best things ever. If I ever own a house I'm building one.

Occasionally the jobs come up, but rarely full time and permanent and if they are they usually take on the poor git who's been working part time there for 3 years
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 14:45, Reply)
Are you sure it's the first one, it's been about 5 years since I've been, but I went at least 10 times, and I was pretty sure it's the second one.
It could be that I'm wrong, that the photography proffessor is correct about photography, I'm just not sure.

Maybe you should work here part time for 3 years and then you'll get a perma job?
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 14:48, Reply)
I've been doing the part time/supply thing for the last

What kind of photography are you into? I like architectural photography, and pictures of dogs.

(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 15:00, Reply)
zum

(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 15:01, Reply)
pictures of dogs in towels are the epitome of art
(the stuff I like most is usually odd stuff, the more 'art' side of photography, although I'm also into documentary, too)

Did you put in a < or >, 'cus that'll mess up posts.

(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 15:11, Reply)
possibly, yes

(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 15:12, Reply)
OK it meant to be
I've been doing the part time/supply thing for the last 3 or 4 years and I'm on the brink of getting full time permanent in the next few weeks.

I may - MAY - have just walked around the supermarket with my flies down
and not Tesco, where they'd just be happy I had underwear on, but Waitrose, where everyone was far too polite to bring it to my attention.
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 14:19, Reply)
I don't like casseroles/stews/etc, they're dull and tedious to me.

(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 14:26, Reply)
I also don't like Floyd or that old italian bloke

(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 14:27, Reply)
I read that as 'pink floyd'
and wondered what they had to do with stews
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 14:37, Reply)
meat in sauce makes up a large percentage of world cuisine
call it a curry or a stew or a bolognese sauce or tagine or stir fry, it's all meat in sauce.
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 15:08, Reply)
That's why I didn't say 'meat in sauce' but casserole/stew....
... eg, food that has been left to cook in a single dish for an extensive period of time, but in my case, I'm focusing european food that falls under that catagory.
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 15:10, Reply)
Reading that made me feel hungry

(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 14:44, Reply)
Alright sexy, how are things going?

(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 14:46, Reply)
3/6 now
tomorrow's one is not a good one (Nero to Hadrian) and I chose to defend the position in my medieval paper'it's alright to burn someone at the stake for the sake of their souls' so going right back to my good Catholic roots there.
How are you?
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 14:48, Reply)
you get to take sides in your essays?
my degree ones were all a bit "a bit yes, a bit no, in conclusion: maybe"
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 14:56, Reply)
Only if you're me
the question didn't need sides, but I was taught that if you don't know enough, then pick a position and defend it.
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 15:02, Reply)
haha
this is a good strategy for everything
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 15:05, Reply)
Haha, oh wow.
I'm ok, just very tired. How spaced out are the last two?
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 15:06, Reply)
one tomorrow, then a week to my first Cicero one
then four days after that to my final one on 17th.

Why so tired? Long night last night?
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 15:15, Reply)
Did you see the x-man film?

(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 14:49, Reply)
Nah watched some bbciplayer instead
might go on Wednesday though
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 14:55, Reply)
Oh may days, I've come up with a well good idea.
I might make a website thinggy where single people can hook up with other single people to do Orange Wensday things.
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 15:01, Reply)
That's a pretty good idea :)
but would be quite a lot of work surely?
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 15:03, Reply)
It wouldn't be easy, but I can do it... *thinking out loud*
Foursquare API = location of all the picture houses
Facebook API = linking up information of people
????? = movie information
????? = Getting picture show-times
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 15:08, Reply)
since Orange Wednesday tickets
are only allowed at certain chains which have linked websites (i.e. not a seperate site for each location) that might help
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 15:17, Reply)
Sweet !
Cool, I'm working on it =)
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 16:02, Reply)
It's pretty good, although it completely ignores established canon
if that doesn't bother you, you'll really enjoy it. Lots of little nods to the other films.
I don't seem to have spoken to you in a while; how's things going?
(, Sun 5 Jun 2011, 15:06, Reply)
I was off b3ta for a bit
since have exams :) I'm good thanks, how are you?
