Physical Activity
What do you do to keep fit?
Anything that's out of the norm?

I had a blast in the bouncy castle on saturday. Then I played softball on sunday. I'm not fit [duh], my body is screaming today, but I quite liked it, and we're planning to do it often.

Anything you'd like to try? Acrobatics? Gymnastics? Etc?
(, Mon 27 Jun 2011, 14:58, 125 replies, latest was 14 years ago)
I go running.
I'm now officially no longer injured so I need to get training again.

I also go cycling, I like to gay it up massively in my lycra and upset people in cars.
(, Mon 27 Jun 2011, 15:00, Reply)
We are easily upset, especially when drunk

(, Mon 27 Jun 2011, 15:02, Reply)
I know, I make sure I have a couple of cold ones myself first
so we're on an even playing field.
(, Mon 27 Jun 2011, 15:10, Reply)
you people are lame
running and cycling are lame
I want to hear about you fighting a bear just so you could break a sweat
(, Mon 27 Jun 2011, 15:03, Reply)
I never break sweat when I fight a bear
Bears view sweating as a form of weakness. I internalise all my excess heat and excrete it in the form of a grey foam like matter that grows out of my ears like spaghetti.

I run and go to the gym, pretty exciting
I would like to swim, but I sink
(, Mon 27 Jun 2011, 15:00, Reply)
silly ape, you've got to move your arms and legs to keep you from sinking

(, Mon 27 Jun 2011, 15:02, Reply)
That way I simply move in a diagonal direction to the bottom

(, Mon 27 Jun 2011, 15:03, Reply)
I've started working out three times a week
it was agony to start with but couple of weeks in and I'm already much stronger, which is nice.
(, Mon 27 Jun 2011, 15:01, Reply)
I go to the gym and run outside when I'm in the mood, which hasn't been for a while now.
I like swimming, but I hate swimming in the pool with other people getting in the way so I don't bother.

I would like to run further but I don't think my body wants me to and it would probably mean drinking less which is a bit meh!
(, Mon 27 Jun 2011, 15:03, Reply)
But think of all the new territory you could mark if you ran a bit further.

(, Mon 27 Jun 2011, 15:13, Reply)
Pfft!

(, Mon 27 Jun 2011, 15:14, Reply)
You mean
Parp!
(, Mon 27 Jun 2011, 15:15, Reply)
I play 5-a-side footie, basketball and cricket
As my back injury has finally subsided, I'll be getting back to the gym in the next week or so. I've also recently learned to swim, so even half a dozen lengths of the pool is bloody knackering.
(, Mon 27 Jun 2011, 15:07, Reply)
Sometimes i like to go duck hurling, great for upper body strength

When I was at the gym a lot I would do a class called Body Blitz
which was aerobics with weights. I also did yoga and used the cross-trainer and weight machines.

Now, I'd be lucky if I only crosstrained.

Alt: I'd like to get better into yoga. It's well relaxing.
(, Mon 27 Jun 2011, 15:10, Reply)
I read that as

There's Tone and Sculpt too :/

(, Mon 27 Jun 2011, 15:26, Reply)
Zumba is stupid
the one I did involved dancing to The Birdie Song
(, Mon 27 Jun 2011, 15:29, Reply)
It's more silly names for legitimate stuff
It's the name of the class, not the workout per se.

First time I did Body Blitz I was blitz. Couldn't walk up or down the stairs without severe pain and my arm seized up and I couldn't use it for a couple of days. Awesome stuff.
(, Mon 27 Jun 2011, 15:32, Reply)
I'll give you three guesses what I do to keep fit
I also go running and do free weights every day. This is mainly because it gives me chance to watch telly so it doesn't feel so much like exercise. Am hoping that eventually my arms will distract from my beer-gut.

it was pretty cool
except we had a mixed aged group and for some reason I wasn't so keen on punching 8 year olds in the head.

Mind you, I was doing a project in a school once and one of them was there. Across the whole class he goes "I know her! I've beaten her in a fight!"

I had to admit it was true :(

(, Mon 27 Jun 2011, 15:21, Reply)
I'd kick some ass
actually I have no coordination, I did it mostly to make myself less clumsy. I did a little bit of kickboxing before that. I drop less things nowadays
(, Mon 27 Jun 2011, 15:28, Reply)
Don't forget about your cross-country pantomime

(, Mon 27 Jun 2011, 15:30, Reply)
I'd like to be able to do those asymmetric bars things
that they have in the gymnastics at the Olympics. Or some of the stuff Kitty and Apple do on the pole is mighty impressive; I'm still too much of a lolfatty with pansyweak wrists to do gymnastics though.

I run, cycle and play tennis. I'd like to be better at swimming but I'm much less buoyant than I was so I find it harder work now, and also it's not worth the hassle given what chlorinated water does to my hair. I found yoga incredibly relaxing and so bought a couple of dvds so I could do it at home...surprise, surprise they've never even been unwrapped.
(, Mon 27 Jun 2011, 15:20, Reply)
Your wrists can't be that weak if you play tennis.

She wanks him off, he cries, gets grumpy and doesn't talk to her for days.

cheerleading seems a bit shit
like the boys do football and the girls' sport is cheering on the boys
(, Mon 27 Jun 2011, 15:32, Reply)
It's just dance/gymnastics for the hot girls.

(, Mon 27 Jun 2011, 15:33, Reply)
Having seen a bit of cheerleading on telly
it does seem to be more like gymnastics than just saying 'Go Team'. According to MTV MADE (which I have never watched, ever, at all, honest) you have to be able to do backflips and somersaults to even get on teh team.
(, Mon 27 Jun 2011, 15:34, Reply)
even if it is a legitimate sport
I think the fact that it even exists is as a support for boys sport is a symptom of a misogynistic society
