It's not thick enough though, so I might make a roux tonight.

Just mix a little water into a tablespoon of cornflour
then heat the stew up so it's starting to bubble and whack in the cornflour liquid and give it a good stir.

I don't have any corn flower.
But it's not a problem to make a roux.
(
PsychoChomp, Thu 13 Oct 2011, 16:57,

Plain flour would also work
or if you have any sauce flour that would work to.
It's just easier to use flour because the roux is harder to dissolve when you already have lumpy stuff in a stew like veg and meat.

if you get the mix of milk and cornflour right
you can run on it. True story

It's funny because naan (a type of bread) can be pronounced a bit like the word "none"

It could also be pronounced like one of them female religious types as well
not sure how that could be worked into a humorous misunderstanding though.

I imagine this is how most b3tans obtain their daily sustenance, a lonely tin of some tripe from Asda labelled 'haute cuisine'
which they then boast about having 'made' on the internet to impress the chicks.

I often look at the tins labelled "Irish Stew" or "Chicken Curry"
and wonder "What would that be like?" But i've never bought one to find out.
True Story.

Probably okay, the truth is almost all food available in major stores these days
is of pretty decent quality, even Aldi or Lidl brands or own brands taste like branded products.
Even if they are made from less appealing parts of animals, as long as they are clean, edible and made to taste ok I dont mind if I am eating sheep bollocks.

I don't see a problem with it, I waste too much fresh food because I cook for one (so lonely).
Tins are quick cheap and easy and don't go off. If they're nice what's the problem?
(
PsychoChomp, Thu 13 Oct 2011, 17:18,

They are usually heavily processed, contain cheap and scraggy cuts of meat
and because of the intensive cooking they contain few vitamins and are often heavily loaded with salt.
But yeah, other than that, they are great.
(
Bazongaloid, Thu 13 Oct 2011, 17:21,

I don't really care about the cuts of meat, I quite like the "shit" cuts if they're cooked well.
Anyway here are the ingredients for the chili I had
Ingredients: Ingredients: Tomatoes (Water, Tomatoes, Tomato Paste), Beef, Water, Kidney Beans, Pink Beans, Dehydrated Onions, Chili Seasoning (Spices, Paprika, Sugar, Salt, Flavoring), Modified Cornstarch, Jalapeno Peppers (Contains Salt, Acetic Acid, Vinegar), Flavoring, Salt, Dehydrated Bell Peppers, Spices.Only the modified cornstarch on that is even a slight problem

(
Glucose-Maximus All over the world., Thu 13 Oct 2011, 17:25,

That and the large amounts of salt.
and the dehydrated vegetables which won't contain much in the way of beneficial nutrition oh and the rest of the argument I just made above.
By scraggy bits of meat, I don't mean cheaper cuts, like skirt and brisket, I mean the bits of gristle they use water hoses to blast off the carcass and then sweep up with brooms before compressing it into blocks.
(
Bazongaloid, Thu 13 Oct 2011, 17:31,

It's 0.33% sodium by weight so 0.6% salt, which isn't excessive.
I don't really see a problem with this stuff occasionally, you'll all be eating it by the time of the apocolypse.

I wouldn't recommend it daily, put it this way
But once or twice a week it is fine to have cheap crap or fatty/sugary treats as long as the rest of your diet is healthy.

But I made it myself the first time I heard we were going for Korean.
