Are SMART televisions worth bothering with?
I need a small telly and there is a cheap one at Richer Sounds, I just don't know if I'd use the added functionality or not.
(, Mon 16 Sep 2013, 14:45, Reply)
They're the future.
Traditional broadcasting will die a death to be replaced by internet streaming. Get yourself a Netflix account and jump on the future train! Next stop Casa del Perrofucker!
(, Mon 16 Sep 2013, 14:46, Reply)
About 18 months back, 3D was the future.

(, Mon 16 Sep 2013, 14:49, Reply)
3D was never the future and won't be until they get rid of the daft glasses.
Web TV is already half here.

Google "Android Stick", does the same job but much cheaper.

Plugging that into the HDMI port on the TV allows it to stream netflix etc and get games?

(, Mon 16 Sep 2013, 15:21, Reply)
I also wish to know this
I've googled but it doesn't explain how you actually click on things given it's a tv not a touchscreen.
(, Mon 16 Sep 2013, 15:28, Reply)
You use the arrow keys on the remote, I would think?

(, Mon 16 Sep 2013, 15:32, Reply)
I think they come with a remote with a touchpad or you can use your phone.
The respective apps work on xbox/ps3/youview that don't have a touch screen.
(, Mon 16 Sep 2013, 16:08, Reply)
Yup, pretty much that
I have a Roku box, cost £40, streams all sorts. It's the one Sky altered to make their own Sky Go box (which looks the same nut is silver and more locked down).
(, Mon 16 Sep 2013, 15:30, Reply)
I think the £99 roku box lets you plug in your own hard drive if you're a bit naughty with your media.

(, Mon 16 Sep 2013, 16:11, Reply)
Or the Roku internet streamer
Separate box is better as they tend to get more firmware updates, and if you change TV it stays the same, lot of smart TVs are quite out of date not having all the catchup apps.
(, Mon 16 Sep 2013, 15:04, Reply)
Yah', plus the Roku box is tiny.

(, Mon 16 Sep 2013, 15:09, Reply)
Yeh, can hide it behind TV and use your phone as the remote.

(, Mon 16 Sep 2013, 15:13, Reply)
a smaller box is always preferable
