* hugs *

* and solidarity hugs for those who didn't make it *

So how are you coping with your post-bash hangovers?

PS. A hungover piston broke says "Hi!"

Morning!
Glad you had a good one.

Hi spakkaman
hi piston, good to meet you both last night.

I never get hangovers, and I'm at shiteyfuckingshite work.

From the fingers of a hungover piston_broke
Morning all! I had a fab time last night, despite being insulted by possibly the most well-dressed gay guy in London. All of you were fab, which is a rare thing for me to say at a bash. I'm sorry I didn't get the chance to talk to you all, and that is something I intend to remedy at some point soon. Actually, I am planning a Northern bash at the end of February next year, should anyone be interested. Oh, and of course many thanks to Mistaspakkaman for the kind loan of crash space. And his account. Now if you'll excuse me I have a long journey back up North, some paracetamol to find and cigs to find, as I think I shared most of mine last night. Ah well!

Cheers,

piston_broke

Had an excellent time last night even though the pub weren't doing food ='[

Hopefully it wasn't too obvious how drunk I was feeling...

after a couple of pints of squash and some marmited toast, I'm feeling good.

Great to meet so many of you last night and hopefully I didn't waffle on too much to the people I managed to talk to.

Here's looking forward to a Christmas bash!

I had to leave early, and I meant to thank you and becky personally for the photo story you both made months and months and months ago.

Because Lusty wrote the full theme tune for GIGANTACOCK! Dum dum dum doesn't really count.

And I had an excellent one last night. I think I probably drank a wee bit too much but had a great time so I'm not hugely bothered.

I think I'll be getting an early night tonight though.

I'm also quite pround of myself
When I got in I decided I was too drunk to reply to a message on match.com. I did, however, decide to send a message explaining how awesomely sensible I'd been which didn't really make a lot of sense.

I've now been roped into an agreement that next time I'm pished I will just send a message anyway so she'll have something to laugh at =[

bleurgh.

EDIT: bloody hell dok, not a good combination.

Yeah, monged is a good way of describing me today
I think because I went to bed around 4ish and then slept for so long.

Dok, if they're 8 and 10, put them in front of the tv or a playstation and you'll have peace and quiet for a while at least, no need to entertain them.

You were, but so was I until I took myself off for a walk around the block. Getting lairy is the only way to cope with other b3tans fit in with our dear friends.

Dok, you were surprisingly good. Well, with me anyway - I can't vouch for others...

Dok, if you keep hold of the remote and flick channels every two minutes it'll keep their attention a bit more. Failing that, lock them in a cupboard and threaten to release the spiders.
(, Sat 29 Nov 2008, 14:47, Reply)
altenatively you could staple them to the floor.
or try and get them to see if they can tape themselves to the wall with gaffer tape.

Most welcome Clenders, I think Wookie and I have more than a little of mother hen syndrome, even when we know that people are more than capable of looking after themselves!

This is true. Taping oneself to the ceiling would be classed as SCIENCE.

I trust you removed your grip from the chair?
(, Sat 29 Nov 2008, 14:59, Reply)
I'd forgotten about the chair
I did manage to free myself from it. I think I started to sober up again a little bit which was good. Next bash I wont make the mistake of relying on the pub for food *grumbles*

Next pub needs to be rung up beforehand and a menu posted.

Wookiee was very entertaining later when we ended up in Camden, going all emo to Fall Out Boy (ffs) and dancing in such a way that Bill felt compelled to enquire after his health.

@clenders: Likewise. There's just so many people to talk to that it's just not possible to properly chat with them all. There were several out tonight who I had never met in the real-world before. Also, this was the 3rd bash I was with with DiT, and we finally had a chat - albeit a brief one.

Do watch In Bruges
Not only is it an OK film but I managed to piss off the people I was watching it with by keeping up a narrative of resturant, bar and cafe reviews throughout the film!

"Oh, I've been to that bar. Nice atmosphere but the barman was a bastard" and similar. :-)

Very nice.
As a kid we often used to holiday in south Holland and would stop off in Bruges for lunch on the way. It's a lovely place to wander around and see the architecture and stuff and having visited later the night life is ok too.

The clock tower from the pivotal scene gives a good view of the town from above.

On that note I just watched the final episode of The Shield and was very impressed, it's a good sign when I've taken the last few hours absorbing the finale. I haven't seen such a good closing since The Wire's final episode a while ago.

I've seen them all before
as I watched all the seasons when I was unemployed earlier this year, but can't resist if an episode comes on that I can't remember the final diagnosis of right away ;)

Evening all
How are we all this fine evening? All nicely recovered now?

It's cold here, and it seems annoyingly cold in my bed. Grr.

I was earlier, but then a nap felt like a good idea. How are you tonight?

I'm not bad, Becky
Just been doing work this evening, looking up journals and the like. Boring stuff.

Now I'm lying in bed, and wishing I was warmer.

Airplane is the best movie ever
According to the monthly comedy club organised by and attended by a confederacy of South American cocaine farmers - well, they needed something to do. They are twinned with the pilots' canteen at Birmingham airport.

LOL Ethel!
I've just remebered telling b3tamax that it was nice to meet someone more interested in quality than staying power, maybe I should have been clearer that I was referring to his username and the whole VHS vs. B3ta battle as it might have come across as instulting otherwise!
(, Sat 29 Nov 2008, 22:56, Reply)
Bill
I remember being pissed when VHS won and we had to get rid of our betamax machine. I loved it dearly as the quality was so much better and it was a cool toploader one instead of the boring regular ones.

I've still not watched any of the second series of the IT crowd let alone the third. Loved the first one though so I'll have to get the second on dvd or something.

Random airplane quote: "Have you ever seen a grown man naked?"

:edit: If we're going to sing songs I suppose I ought to join in.

I kissed a boy and I liked it, taste of his cherry chapstick, I kissed a boy just to try it, I hope his girlfriend don't mind it...

I love on
dramas when someone has collapsed/vomited up blood/cut off their arm someone else will yell "call an ambulance" *pause* "now!" as if the person with the phone will look at the twitching body and say "Nah I think we can wait another 5 minutes"
(, Sat 29 Nov 2008, 23:48, Reply)
I've actually experienced people dithering over calling 999 IRL
I witnessed a guy on a bike colliding with a truck near where I live, so ran over and started doing basic first aid. I didn't have my phone on me, so asked if any of the growing number of gawpers and well meaning by standers would call for an ambulance. No one pulled out their phone for a good minute or so as they were watching the tendons in the cyclists foot twitch.

People are the reason
why I got out of regular customer service as I couldn't take the inanity of their questions. On my leaving day of my last maddening job I got a postcard which I've always treasured from a friend. It bears the legend, 'Never underestimate the power of stupid people in large groups'.

But if you correct them
then obviously you're being rude and obnoxious and must be reported to your manager immediately. No matter how nice I was to them, I'd always get shat on so decided it was time to get a job where I wouldn't want to kill people at closing time.

I can't remember which Terry Pratchett it's from but the statement "A crowd is only as smart as the square root of its number of people" has always stuck with me.

They are full of things like that
You think you're reading a basic book and suddenly you realise it's a deep social commentary!

Still I only sound smart because I'm quoting authors/screenwriters most of the time, I got called wise the other day after slightly tuning a Buffy quote!
