Morning!
I dunno what it is about the links board but it crashes my firefox. Also my friends page if someone liked a link.

I have to remember to "open in IE tab" whenever I check my friends page.

Morning guys
First thing anybody said to me at work after good morning was "Oh, I've forgotten to do up my flies".

Morninion
I've discovered a new shortcut for my daily bikeride to work. Am looking forward to trying it out.

I'm glad to hear I'm cooler than a bus-company. It gives me a warm glow inside.

Cooler than a bus
I've never been described as that before.

Morning all, did you all have a good weekend?
(, Mon 23 Feb 2009, 9:00, Reply)
Morning, all!
Just been reading the Financial Times.

Did you know there's a global recession on? They kept that quiet.....

We all good?
(, Mon 23 Feb 2009, 9:11, Reply)
I had a very cool weekend
Saturday was the best bit.

Apart from the QOTW-bash, Friday was spent drinking with my workmates and going to a crappy nightclub, and Sunday was spent exploring the area on my bike.

EDIT: Mornin' Stig. For some reason, my company seems to inhabit a different dimension financially.
(, Mon 23 Feb 2009, 9:11, Reply)
I had an okay weekend.
Didn't get to see my girlfriend though, and the damn bus companies have not only switched the busstops around and not notified people who live in the country - they've told us to make other arrangements because we don't live in a "safe zone" for dropping people off!

So I was stuck in town with no lift home for three hours - panicking all the while that mum wouldn't be able to get me.

Not. Fucking. Happy.
(, Mon 23 Feb 2009, 9:12, Reply)
Morning all
How goes it?

A 'Safe Zone' what?

Soory you didn't see the GF, did you manage to chat to her?

Excellent Spakka.
(, Mon 23 Feb 2009, 9:14, Reply)
@Spakman.
Enjoy it! Midway (aka Mortal Kombat) filed for Chapter 11 the other day!

I had a good weekend. Been playing "Street Fighter 4" Frigging excellent game. I unlocked Cammy and re-training with her, but Seth (the end boss) is hyper difficult! He just destroys you without pause!

Vamp, how are things with the missus? Going well?

I've always liked Cammy and not just because she's British.
(, Mon 23 Feb 2009, 9:14, Reply)
Mornin' bitches.
Quiet so far here, waiting for work to bite me in the arse from Friday.
(, Mon 23 Feb 2009, 9:16, Reply)
Surely
If you've played one fighty game you've played them all?
(, Mon 23 Feb 2009, 9:19, Reply)
a Safe Zone
is a place deemed by "safety inspectors" who have never once been to the country, where it is suitable to let people off a bus without harm coming to them.

And Yes I've been chatting to the missus. She's well thanks - bit lonely though.

Hi Kaol, Stig and everyone else!

Yo yo yo bitches!
I'm growing my tashe in true Selleck style for a fancy dress party i'm attending on saturday.

Oh yes!
(, Mon 23 Feb 2009, 9:22, Reply)
@TLIC
Heathen! How dare you speak such obscenities?!

All joking aside, that's a myth. It's not just pushing the buttons in the right order. It's discovering new combos, parrying, and other such tricks which different games incorporate. Mortal Kombat is different to street fighter.

Listen to me, I sound 14 all over again!

@Vamp.

Lonely? Come on! Your company isn't THAT great! ;O)
(, Mon 23 Feb 2009, 9:22, Reply)
Yeah, "hi" to everyone.
Bash was good fun, great to meet cackers and Mr. Chains.
Rest of my weekend was cool too!

Anyone seen a film called "Cronos"?
(, Mon 23 Feb 2009, 9:23, Reply)

I need Street Fighter 4.

I also need The Wire complete box set.

I also need to save cash.

hungover, got paperwork to do, weather dull and grey and cold.

will you lot please all fuck off with the cheeriness and join me in my misery?

or should we try that kinda the other way round?

(, Mon 23 Feb 2009, 9:26, Reply)
Why are the bus companies taking responsibility for this?
Are their employees safe?
Are they getting enough fares to cover the costs of running the routes?

If both are yes leave the fuck alone and let people go where the fuck they want.

I might be a bit angry with stupid people at the moment. My 'friend' got my into House over the weekend and watching Dr House get angry with stupid people seems to have put me into that frame of mind.

:edit: Blaireau, I'd prefer the all miserable approach. People are much more rational when they're miserable.

The one by Del Torro, why yes I have, why do you ask.

Oh that sucks Vampy, how could they do that. Glad she's OK though, and Don't listen to that nasty Stig, he's just bitter.

If you liked "House" then watch a TV show called "Lie to me" it stars Tim Roth and is VERY good. Very similar to "House".

@Vamp. See? Told you your company wasn't very good! ;O)

P.S. I'm not bitter....I taste quite sweet....apparently! :OS
(, Mon 23 Feb 2009, 9:28, Reply)
Dok, Cap,
it's because they're bureaucratic cunts. That's why.
No reason. It just gives them an excuse to say no and hike the fares up a bit higher as well.

EDIT: Stig - please - go suck a fuck or stop being nasty. I'm normally pretty joking and happy to let it slide but I'm really not in the mood tonight.
(, Mon 23 Feb 2009, 9:29, Reply)
I never really got beyond button mashing
So I may be biased.
VC: surely just a disclaimer that "patrons alight at their own risk" would be better than cancelling the service?

@Spakman,
"Tekken" was ok. I was very good with "Kazuya", but as TLIC pointed out, some games are "button stabbers" and "Tekken" classes as one....

Shame, because I like the game.

Tekken?
Give me the first Soul Calibur any day.

Or SF II

Super SF 2! I was unstoppable with Cammy!

I was pretty good with Vega, too.

I also got "Lemmings" for the PS3. I'd forgotten how good a game that was! The music is class!

@TGB

Tekken was one of those rare games where a seasoned professional had just as much chance of winning as a button stabber!

I'm tired, my right earlobe knacks (someone stood on my stretching taper when i was on the floor this weekend), and I still have random bits of zombie make-up on me. Apart from that, I'm grand!

Kaol, I like Misturugi and Taki, but in later games I seem to do well with Talim as well. And yourself?

Here....

@TGB

It probably doesn't but that's not the point. It's a game which can be enjoyed in high def. You can watch a film on CRT TV, you don't NEED a flat screen, but it's nicer....
(, Mon 23 Feb 2009, 9:40, Reply)
Mitsurugi, fuck yes.
Although I'm pretty damn good with Siegfried and Ceravantes too.

Such a good game!

Spakka
A couple of months ago I found a variation on my route home that shaves 5-6 minutes off the normal 30 minutes. I was immensely chuffed as I had thought my route was optimised. It's a good feeling when you make a new turn and after a bit recognise your surroundings as a lot closer to your destination than expected.
(, Mon 23 Feb 2009, 9:41, Reply)
Siegfried
I like him just for the shear amount of damage he dishes out, but I prefer quicker characters.

Edit: And G'morning Badger!

@Dok
You can hardly say the Chimp "got what it deserved"! It's a wild animal (suffering from a horrible disease). It shouldn't have been there. The owner should bear all of the responsibility.

Who keeps a chimp as a pet?!
(, Mon 23 Feb 2009, 9:51, Reply)
I like the bloke with the staff out of Soul Calibur

Well Badger
I woke at 8am on Sunday, all bright eyed and bushy tailed, no trace of a hangover at all.

Then I had to spend the day in the cold. :(

Stig, there is no justification for an animal attacking somebody, when it happens the animal must be destroyed, especially when it is such a horrific attack.

Deal with the threat, then the cause!
(, Mon 23 Feb 2009, 9:59, Reply)
@TGB
I know, I know! Call me a heretic, but I suspect, that MJ may be a sandwich short of a picnic.....

@Dok

the animal was wild, you can hardly say it wasn't expected. If you had a tiger as a pet and it savaged someone, people would say that it was to be expected. The same applies with a chimp. It's an animal. It's not its fault! It's the owner, she shouldn't have had it as a pet.

I missed my coach home
I was too drunk to properly navigate Victoria station and ended up arriving at the coach station at 11:02 for my 11:00 coach.
I suspect it had been cancelled though because although they started off saying that I'd have to buy a new ticket, when I told them which coach I'd missed they put me on the next one to Birmingham. Yay! Didn't get in until 3 though.

Meh
I'm not going to defend queen, they were pretty shit. If I can hear all I want to hear of a band just by listening to their greatest hits (and even then the third disc is about as fun as wiping your arse with your bare hands when you have diarrhoea) then a band is, in my view, shit.

Doesn't stop me enjoying some of their songs though.

:edit: Dok the reason nobody else has the same spelling of Dok* as you is because of your typos! Yes I am suggesting you made a typo on your own birth cirtificate!

*For Dok read his real name.

yes
I was named after both my grandparents. My full name is Teresa - but mum thought it sounded (oddly enough) like an old nanna's name and gave me the nickname of Tess after Tess of the D'Urbervilles.

The Dutch are great people.

I never knew they hated the Germans so much!

A Dutchie told me they don't like the word "Dutch" to describe them. They prefer "Nederlander" ("Netherlander", which sounds little too close to "Neanderthal" for my liking, but there you go). The reason for this is "Dutch" sounds too close to "Deutsche".

Never knew that....

Horse and Groom, I had been feeling up Hitlercock and Bert said it wasn't fair I could get away with that and he couldn't so I said he could have a bit of a motorboat and you tapped your glass and announced to the whole pub there was going to be a motorboating.

It could have been 'The Saturdays', a "band" who can only be described as perky.

Not as hot as Pussycat Dolls, not as good (unbelieveably) as Girls Aloud, just occupying some kind of mind-numbing middle ground.

At least you know why James Blunt is cackola.

I like James Blunt
he can take the piss out of himself rather well! His music is wank but he seems to kind of agree with that!

The Rolling Stones did it without beards....

I can practically see a ghostly chin-aura when I look at him.

the white hair is currently still there. I don't think it's a sign of aging or anything, not a trace of grey or white on my head, and my beard contains pretty much every other colour, so why not white?

it's almost tempted me to bleach it tbh!

Must be something in the water
For I too had a pure white hair in my beard. I rushed to see the vicar to ask him what it may mean, and he turned me away.

I rushed to the Rabbi, and he shut the door in my face.

I asked a soothsayer, who said me no sooths and advised me not to let the door hit my arse on the way out.

In the end I tweezered the fucker, and put it down to it being just a hair.

EDIT: OK, the Stones are dull, but there's no need to go around having a go at the ZEP!

And beards rule.

I have no tattoos so far, and I do want one, and I'ev had the idea for what for some time, and it still seems good.

partly I'm concerned that it won't turn out well which is a bit silly.

more to the point (and this is ridiculous) my brother would tell my parents, who would be disappointed in me. At the age of 26 you'd think I'd be past this by now....

Personally, I'd advise against a tattoo. I've never been sold on them. But whatever works for you.

Also, if you're afraid of what your parents will say, what's the point? You'll just be getting a tattoo so you'll have to be looking over your shoulder (metaphorically speaking) all the time.
(, Mon 23 Feb 2009, 17:15, Reply)
not so much afraid of what they will say
just can't be bothered with the hassle of arguing it with them.

It'd be something pretty simple, one colour and not on show all the time, or much of the time at all really.

There's something about them that just really appeals to me.
(, Mon 23 Feb 2009, 17:19, Reply)
I've got a few markings...
So I would suggest that you go for it!

However:

Research your tattooist first. Ask friends who have had them done, and you should be able to find someone good locally. They may charge more, but at least they do it properly.

And enjoy it! I fell asleep while I had the one across my shoulders done... And make sure you don't drink for at least 24 hours beforehand! :)
(, Mon 23 Feb 2009, 17:19, Reply)
@Vipros
Do whatever you feel is best. But like DiT says, research your tattooist well. Hepatitis is something you don't want!

I actually like the early Floyd (Syd Barrett days) quite a bit. And Stones with Brian Jones. They lost the carnivalesque quality when he died, and became a boring blues rip-off band. Although a few songs were still good...

(, Mon 23 Feb 2009, 17:30, Reply)
Because...
(I'm told) alcohol thins your blood, so when they start tattooing you, you bleed more than you usually would. This makes the tattooists job harder, and might mess up your tattoo.

I know a guy who is evidence of this, and it's not as good as it should be. Make sure you eat first, too!

Also, what Clenders said. My mum went nuts when I head my eyebrow pierced at age 23. But when I had my first tattoo (when I was 19), she was completely fine with it. I think that's because you can't see it though...

Employment is good. I'm working from home for the majority of the week, so that suits me down to the ground. I save on petrol, I can work in my pyjamas and I can drink tea/coffee/scotch/(delete as applicable).

Whereabouts in the world are you people watching?

I'm a half and half. My old man was Irish, but moved over to Scotland and met my mother... Fast forward twenty something ish years and I decided to move over here...
