Have you ever watched a horror movie that actually made you genuinely afraid? I've heard Paranormal Activity is good, though never watched it myself - any recommendations?
Alt-Q: Last film that made you cry (or last film you had 'something in your eye' while watching if you're too much of a man to admit it)

That was fucking weird.

I watched The Simpson's once while on a combination of mushrooms and E. Started coming down halfway through. Genuinely the scariest thing I've ever watched - Homer's giant head came out of the TV and tried to eat me. Never mixed my drugs again. Good times...

The challenge at he end of the film was to look in the mirror and say 'candyman' 5 times. The closest anyone got was someone saying 'candyman' once.
Apparently I couldn't even see the fucking mirror, let alone speak.

Though that was probably due to the fact we went on a stoned camping trip the day after watching it, and the forest looked a little too similar to the film. The children's laughter... *shudder*

Probably Queen or Pulp.

Never been mcuh of a fan of Pulp though. There's just something about Jarvis Cocker...
I'd go back and see Woddstock '69. Mainly for Hendrix (who am I kidding - mainly for the drugs. Hendrix would just be a bonus)

I really ought to listen to some Hendrix. One of the rock greats I know next to nothing about.

Once there was a rabbit who liked to frequent a local bar. He liked to order toast.
Some days he'd order wheat toast, some days he'd order white toast, some days he'd order rye toast. One day, the rabbit came into the bar in the form of a ghost.
He was dead.
The bartender looked at the rabbit and said, "HOW DID YOU DIE!?!" The rabbit replied, "Mixin My Toasties."

One question though; am I likely to break down in tears at the end? There'll be several females present, and I'd hate to lose my (non-existant) manly image...

I was a little creeped out by Long Time Dead but not as much as the original ring films which aren't scary but have the special kind of levels only achieved by Asian Extreme. See also The Grudge and the fucking horrible noise the girl makes

The Japanese film industry seems to do 'creepy horror' better than anyone. Which makes it even worse when Hollywood rapes the shit out of their ideas through those god-awful 'remakes'

I've managed to avoid all the remakes.

Awesome film, genuinely scary. Don't go for the shit american remake, though, it's appalling.
(, Sat 30 Oct 2010, 10:11, Reply)
That scared me a lot, but that's not really a horror film. I also nearly passed out while watching 'The Descent' at the cinema. I think it was due to claustrophobia because the monsters hadn't even shown up yet.
Alt Q: I stayed up to watch 'The Abyss' the other night. The bit in it when Ed Harris's character is desperately trying to resuscitate his wife always brings a tear to my eye.
(, Sat 30 Oct 2010, 13:25, Reply)
with strict instructions to my father that the 6 year old me was not to watch Day of Triffids.
