Let's get rid of that rubbish cancer thread, it's a bit weird.
Tell me where you met your significant other. And if you don't have a significant other, tell me about what you use to fill the void in your life.

Edit: one of the guys at work lent me a guitar today. I'm going to learn to play Oasis songs.

Also tell me how you hate the phrase "significant other".

(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 9:19, archived)
"significant otter" is better

(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 9:22, archived)
I can't think of an insignificant otter, so it's not very specific.

(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 9:22, archived)
I could tarkat or leave it

I have trouble with this kind of thing
I'm too old to be a boyfriend and I most certainly am not a partner. I'm so confused :(
(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 9:23, archived)
Gays have this problem solved, just stick it in anything that wears fabulous shoes

(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 9:25, archived)
Shoes do nothing for me
Well, other than keep my feet mostly dry.

I met her in a boozer
I have an eye for vulnerable women.

I'd like to believe that your opening chat up line was
"'ey up love, how many drinks will I have to buy yer before you'll let me chuck it up yer?"
(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 9:22, archived)
I decided on the subtle long term approach
I kept her drunk, impressed her with my awesome cooking skillzorz!!111!! etc and before you know it she was emotionally dependant on me and I could do owt!

I met Double F at a rock club in town.
I wrote my name and number on his arm in eyeliner pencil. We'd both been vain and come out without our glasses so when we met the next day we were both speccy twats. Hooray.

Aww.

(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 9:26, archived)
it's not just vanity
i lost my glasses at a rock club once, they're rubbish for dancing

I can't fill the void for 6 to 8 weeks :(

(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 9:23, archived)
I've given up filling the void, just to see what happens.
Gone three days so far. Nothing's exploded.
(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 9:31, archived)
also, I can kind of answer the first question about the girl I'm kinda seeing but she lives far away and we're both really busy right now...
Some friends and I went to for a Christmas meal, but one of them had to drop out due to being ill.
Because she'd ordered something special, the order couldn't be cancelled and so the friend that was hosting it decided to bring a friend along to fill the void.
In the bar before the meal, we started talking about twitter and swapped details and it went from there.

Mrs Eddache worked in the same shop as my neighbour.
It was my neighbour's birthday and we were both invited along and met that way. We were the oldest in the group and so since we knew the rest would be ID'd (and we didn't have any ID on us), we went in ahead, holding hands, pretending to be a couple. That act of make-believe has lasted five years and we're getting married in September.

why oasis songs?

(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 9:31, archived)
Partly because I like Oasis and partly because the dude who lent me the guitar also lent me oasis playing guide things
as they're the only ones he's got.
(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 9:32, archived)
Why not?

(, Wed 27 Jan 2010, 9:32, archived)
No, that didn't work, I met her in real life, she is not of the internet.

In her back garden, at a party
she had a false moustache, I was wearing an afro wig and a massive strap-on beard.
