There's a huge gastropub in town called The Three Brewers.
The only beers they sell are the ones they brew themselves on the premises. They've got four or five to choose from, and they're all shit.

Are concerts in bars where you're ten feet away from the performer better than concerts on massive stages where there are thirty thousand of you, or is it the other way around?

depends on the music
Big bands in stadiums usually put on a spectacle: Iron Maiden's performances definitely wouldn't work on a pub scale. But last gig I went to, the band had to shoulder their way through the crowd to get on and off the stage because there was no other space, max capacity was maybe 150 people, and it was phenomenal.

Cool.
I had the same experience last night: gig in a pub that was packed to the rafters, with the singers having to elbow their way through everyone on the way to the chair in the corner acting as a stage. It were mint.

I'd imagine that the material from "Conversations With Silence" would work better in a cosy, intimate venue

Really and honestly. You're a waste of human skin.
Best you could do is kill yourself, donate organs to science and let your wife and kids meet a decent human being to look after them and provide them the love you're incapable of.
