# There seems to be a problem with the cat5...

# maybe there's a hairball somewhere.
(, Wed 19 Nov 2003, 13:59, archived)
# lol that's terrible
i like your style ;)

# i'm trying to build a network at home
but my cat likes eating the cat5
seriously, i don't know what to do about it
(, Wed 19 Nov 2003, 14:01, archived)
# my mate
named his cat cable because of such stuff
(, Wed 19 Nov 2003, 14:02, archived)
# Run a high voltage live cable alongside the cat5.
Your cat won't chew the bundle more than once.

# get wireless lan
then you can just fry your cats brain with radiation waves
(, Wed 19 Nov 2003, 14:03, archived)
# radio?
I was never good at science, but I believe that radio waves are different from radiation. Still, fry your brains at enough frequency, but I don't think wireless is strong enough. Pleae correct me if I am wrong.

not really trying to be an ass, I really am curious if they are the same or not

# Radio waves
are a long wavelength/low energy part of the EM spectrum aren't they?
(, Wed 19 Nov 2003, 14:07, archived)
# googled
(, Wed 19 Nov 2003, 14:09, archived)
# yes they are
but there's microwave radiation which is radio wave type stuff, and then nuclear radiation which is particles and stuff
(, Wed 19 Nov 2003, 14:09, archived)
# so, in conclusion
JBoom was correct?
(, Wed 19 Nov 2003, 14:10, archived)
# not exactly
lan radiation isn't high enough frequency, i belive it's less powerful than mobile phone radiation
(, Wed 19 Nov 2003, 14:12, archived)
# I doubt
that any of us can site suitably conclusive studies of the effect of LAN radiation on feline brains, so it's a moot point really.
(, Wed 19 Nov 2003, 14:13, archived)
# Yes.
Nuclear radiation exhibits wave/particle duality anyway, I think. In short, they're all types of radiation.
(, Wed 19 Nov 2003, 14:12, archived)
# yes but if you belive in string theory
then particles and radiation are one in the same, if you consult Eipenhowers feline cranial radiation resistance tests (1957, published by national science magazine) youll cleary see that they are highly resistant to nuons and pi radio waves up to a strength of 13 rads per square inch....

# This made me chuckle.
(, Wed 19 Nov 2003, 14:19, archived)
# kill it
failing that, go wireless

OR for comedy effect, you could disguise a live power cable as cat5, then see how often the cat chews it after that!

I take no responsibility if you have to use a crowbar to get the cats jaws open after this
(, Wed 19 Nov 2003, 14:04, archived)
# Cat-killing mindpiss!
(, Wed 19 Nov 2003, 14:05, archived)
# wireless is too expensive (ie more than £2.50)
we're tearing the old network out of this office, so i get all the cables and sockets for nowt.

but mabye if i ran a low current cable alongside it, just enough to give it a jolt, or mabye if i just creep up behind it and slap a custard pie in its face
(, Wed 19 Nov 2003, 14:07, archived)
# Run it along the ceiling and down the wall
instead of along the floor. If you have picture-rails, that's perfect.
(, Wed 19 Nov 2003, 14:09, archived)
# NO!
that would be a sensible and responsible thing to do.

still the wallpaper has claw marks near the ceiling, i've never been certain how they got there
(, Wed 19 Nov 2003, 14:11, archived)
# Mmm pie.

# Use co-ax
Technically superior too.

Honest.

# I use optical
That's the one where the torches shine at each other, right?
(, Wed 19 Nov 2003, 14:09, archived)
# Arf
My network at home was co-ax for a fair few years. Those were the days *sigh*

Won't somebody think of the punnage...!

woo yay!

# I am angry with my university.
They keep their network hub
downstairs
in an unconditioned room
with about thirty high-end PCs for video editing.

So no lesson today, due to fried network and chips.
cranberries.

!

But I've no idea what it's referring to. I'm too stoopid.

:D

I like it though.

# Woo to you!
And can I just give out one big generic WOO! to everyone elses pics at the same time - I'm stuck in dialup hell today and can't get this thing to work half the time...

/respost, sorry.
