# With undoubtably another different photograph
I mean, one photo is enough, surely.

We've had about half the family album now, including from 2 years ago.

How is that helping with the search - "Here is what she looked like in 2005"

Bah!

(Got that off my chest, finally)

The parents sold her off.

I think the whole thing is really sus.

# I think that if the parents weren't doctors
and were more working class they would have been totally pilloried in the press for leaving their children alone in a strange hotel room

but of course they are totally blameless in all this, because it's fine to leave pre-schoolers for a couple of hours while you go and get pissed in a restaurant
(, Mon 14 May 2007, 15:52, archived)
# I agree
so there.

# Nope
They just checked in on the kids every half hour. All a passing crim has to do is work out how often the parents are dropping by then nip in and nab her after the next visit.

but the last time they checked was 9pm before returning at 10pm

which isn't every half hour, the stupid fuckheads, their story doesn't even add up

# *is surprised not to have been shouted off the board*
Agreed in some ways, but that can't take away
from the fact that she was snatched from a
locked hotel room. Had she had an accident and
died due to parental absence from the room, then
I'd be more than willing to apportion blame. I
don't think it's fair to expect people to foresee
something like this happening though... Just my thoughts.

# How do we know she didn't?
Child wakes up in hotel room

Child realises parents are missing

Child goes out to find parents

Child goes to beach, not 200 yards away

Child goes into water

Child drowns and is washed out to sea

Parents try to absolve themsleves of blame: "THE WINDOW WAS FORCED OPEN!!!!"
(, Mon 14 May 2007, 16:04, archived)
# She'd be a pretty clever toddler
to force the window from the outside

I take your point, I just don't think blaming the parents wholesale is fair.

# It'd be interesting to gauge the board's reaction to these kind of events
I guess proximity to the event and severity of the piss-take are the defining factors.

I remember half the board disappearing at lunchtime on July 7th '05...

# yeh
I even churned out a 'shop or two when they were only reporting it as being very minor...

Funny that the board was awash with 9/11 jokes straight away, in spite of that clearly being very serious indeed.

In spite of that paradox, I have to say I think in general the board's very well moderated...

# Cunning Plan
1) Steal kid B
2) Superglue skin off kid A onto kid B
3) Claim Reward
4) PROFIT!

It's not like the fuckwit parents will notice.

# Clue in the "kidnapper" reference.
I'm just hoping for an icon out of it.

Personally I think the parents seem to be a bit too smiley and spend more time in church than I think I'd manage under similar cricumstances.

Smells dodgy.
(, Mon 14 May 2007, 16:16, archived)
# Yarr, if it's cash ye be wanting...
just sell a made up story to the gutter press about how you knew the parents and how evil (or wonderful, depending on the angle you decide to take) the parents are.

Pretend they treated you in hospitol and you overheard them talking about how much they hate (or love) their kids.

# I would guess
that all of you that are joking about this are not parents. It certainly changes your perspective on stories like this.

On another note, I was reading a book the other day and the author pointed out an oddity in human behaviour. When we hear of less than 10 people dying, we feel sad about it but as soon as the number goes above 10, it actually becomes less sad (unless you know someone involved of course). Maybe it is because it feels less real, and they stop being individuals.
