# interestingly
they've been offering flu vaccinations at work... don't know if that fits with anyone's conspiracy theories... but the vaccinations seem to be full of big nano-bots

# My daughter's nursery were handing out leaflets about swine-flu this morning.
If any of the kids get any "flu-like" symptoms they will be sent home and not allowed to return until they've been given the all-clear by a doctor.

Raving mad it is.
(, Fri 1 May 2009, 11:19, archived)
# HA HA HA
flu like symptoms include crankyness, sleepyness... being less than 3 feet tall.

Over reaction is rife... mostly because the consequences of a reaction which was subsequently found to be an under reaction are dire...

this is what happens when people make decisions based on speculation rather than information.

# "Extra anti-bacterial procedures will be put into place around the nursery"
Yeah, cos that'll help with the flu VIRUS, you fucking muppets...
(, Fri 1 May 2009, 11:23, archived)
# :D
Virus: "Damn this is a clean nursery!"

also the virus is currently a bit of a pussy but easily transmittable... the problem would come if it mutated into something stronger... which may take time.
(, Fri 1 May 2009, 11:25, archived)
# So would it be better to catch it sooner rather than later, or doesn't that matter?
(, Fri 1 May 2009, 11:30, archived)
# I was thinking this.
It'd be embarrassing if all this work to stop it spreading now means a stronger version can kill more people later.
(, Fri 1 May 2009, 11:31, archived)
# yeah
embarrassing, that's the word for it :)
(, Fri 1 May 2009, 11:37, archived)
# Boy would our faces be red
(, Fri 1 May 2009, 11:38, archived)
# I think it depends on how much it mutates by
... the H1 bit of H1N1 refers to the haemagglutinin which binds the virus to the cell... the 1 in H1 means there's only one of them (as opposed to H5N1 which has more binding sites) also as an influenza virus it's focussed mostly on the upper respiratory tract which is less harmful (as opposed to the lungs)...

exposure to this might make your immune system better equipped to cope with a mutated version depending on how close the mutation is to the virus you've been exposed to.
(, Fri 1 May 2009, 11:41, archived)
# OK, cheers. It's worth a shot then.
