Barley Says
I made this!
I made this short but informative Public Information Film for 'Mashed' the other night on Channel 4, which also featured lots of other B3tans' lovely work.

That's very kind, but on the animation front I got away with the minimum of effort! Just lots of colouring in... Loved yours and Monkeon's Jesus Monkey bit.

I originally had Barley as the voice of righteousness, but it worked much better when he was being a bastard.

Insight
How far down the path were you before you had to make that decision? Was it just a case of dubbing?

Thankfully only a pint in down the local. Did have to remove the name of another leading offshore retailer after 'companies like Amazon..." and the name of a major DIY retailer from the line "with a holdall in the car park at...". Other than that it mostly sailed past C4's lawyers.

It seems you can let people away with calling people on their well documented frauds.
I was quite curious about the character change though - from righteous to right prick. Did you have the animation in place - were you able to 'pivot' it without re-animating anything?
How did you figure out the character change - over a pint? Because if you are doing role playing of characters in the pub, that is pretty fucking good technique!

I am obsessed with agile development processes
I am actually surprised. I fucking hate how things work where I am at the moment. I guess that is the reason.
Also, I am interested in how the hell people get things done, because I am shite at doing things.

It wasn't anything as complicated, honestly :-)
Just had in place the idea of the boy wanting to buy a DVD cheaper online than from the shops, and Barley the Cat saying how wrong that would be as the savings made would affect the purchaser in other ways. However, switching their roles (before anything was scripted/animated) and having the cat not give a shit gave the gag an extra level as whatever the cat thought/said could be filtered through the child narrator in, hopefully, a more comic fashion.
Or something.
