So you think empathy is merely feeling sorry for someone? It's the ability to mentally put yourself in someone else's shoes, and try to feel what they feel, in this case, pretty much all of us wince when someone clearly hurts themselves. Thus displaying empathy. So yes, even people who find it funny, have empathy.

We have empathy, you don't have a sense of humor, sucks to be you.
