well, seeing I was mentioning him it seemed like a detail that was hard to leave out
something about the fickle and precarious nature of mortality
only the second time i met him after my cousin's wedding 20 years previous. I remember him telling back then he was doing Sean Paul's music video, of whom I had no idea who he was and am still not much wiser. This time we were talking about how he went from making 400k a year to being out of work for 2 years during covid, and the state of industry, but he also was telling me how much he was into pickleball, his ultimate downfall. Flew out the next morning from honolulu to LA. The next day I went for a body surf and came back to a house of crying women.

[Full disclosure: I did music & production for this - my friend, writer of some of the strangest prose you're likely to read, did the writing]
Here's some absurdist lunacy; spoken word surrealism, backed by a variety of synthwave / ambient / business funk nonsense. My friend, the writer, made the first Cairo Time recordings as a strange Christmas album, intended for anyone on a journey to some relatives they didn't really want to visit. The second one is a bit less time specific, by which I mean 'I put fewer sleigh bells in it'.
Some of my favourite bits include an insane podcast host claiming that their favourite Beatles song is 'Beetling Around', and a strangely romantic story about meeting someone called Oinky Beak.
If you like the kind of thing that Chris Morris and Michael Alexander St John did, or if you like Ivor Cutler, or Eugene Ionesco, then this might be your kind of thing. Not many people have listened to it, and I'd very much like that to change.

Another itch scratch job where having originally heard Jim Steinman's 'Rock n Roll Dreams Come Through' I thought to myself 'jeez that sounds like a Meat Loaf tune' without quite knowing the whole back story or how he was meant to originally record it before the version with Rory Dodd.Meat ended up doing his rather moody version on Bat Out of Hell II.
This is the track with Meat's 93 vocals and the 1981 music.
I love Rory's version - this was just to sate a teenager urge.
