What's the best film?
I think it's Aliens but my mate says it's Terminator 2.
(, Tue 4 Jun 2013, 10:02, 65 replies)
Both those films are overrated.

In fact every film that anyone likes is overrated. And books, bands, comedians, TV shows; all overrated.

I’m just so cool and culturally superior*

*Immature and frightened of admitting to liking something incase someone laughs at me.

The original
"Blade Runner" also Dune.
(, Tue 4 Jun 2013, 10:16, closed)
By the original do you mean
Before the directors cut releases etc.
(, Tue 4 Jun 2013, 11:20, closed)
no, he means the book
the book was the best film

Spaceship Troopers.

The best filum ever made is Chitty Chitty Bang Bang or One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest.

And in the UK it’s legal to stab-up anyone who claims the following as the best.

7 Samurai
Eraser Head
Freaks
Plan9 From Outer Space
Anything made by Russ Meyer
Dune
anything involving comic-book action heroes
(, Tue 4 Jun 2013, 10:28, closed)
Battleship.
I especially like the hand-brake-anchor bit
(, Tue 4 Jun 2013, 10:30, closed)
Lord of the Rings: Return of the Ring.

(, Tue 4 Jun 2013, 10:34, closed)
It's been scientifcally proven to be
Ghostbusters.
(, Tue 4 Jun 2013, 10:41, closed)
Ghostbusters is the perfect cinematic experience.

(, Tue 4 Jun 2013, 10:53, closed)
Yes.

(, Tue 4 Jun 2013, 12:24, closed)

It is clearly Ferris Bueller's Day Off.
(, Tue 4 Jun 2013, 11:11, closed)
Terminator (not the sequel)
remains my favourite, as I believe it to be nigh on perfect.
(, Tue 4 Jun 2013, 11:26, closed)
with you on this 100%

(, Tue 4 Jun 2013, 12:14, closed)
I tend to think of 1 & 2 as a conjoined entity
And then I like to forget that they made any other Terminator films at all
(, Tue 4 Jun 2013, 14:45, closed)
Yes
Terminator 2 is a bit too glossy and Hollywoodised compared to the first.

I think T3 is much better than people say. It doesn't make any continuity errors that weren't already made in T2, and the ending is wonderfully bleak.
(, Wed 5 Jun 2013, 11:18, closed)
i re-watched groundhog day the other day
it's just stopped from being the greatest film ever made by having andie macdowell in it
(, Tue 4 Jun 2013, 11:37, closed)
I'm spotting a bit of a pattern here, that great movies tend to involve Bill Murray, Sigourney Weaver or James Cameron.

(, Tue 4 Jun 2013, 11:49, closed)
oui

(, Tue 4 Jun 2013, 11:39, closed)
All films with the suffix "Part 3" are cinematic perfection.

(, Tue 4 Jun 2013, 11:44, closed)
With the possible exception of "A Man A".

Anchorman: The Legend Of Ron Burgundy

(, Tue 4 Jun 2013, 11:44, closed)
depends...
I love the films of French director Jean-Pierre Jeunet but on another day I might want to watch Old Boy or a Hollywood nobrainer blockbuster

But I can't chose a favourite film or a favourite album or a favourite cheese it just depends on mood, setting, colour socks...
(, Tue 4 Jun 2013, 11:52, closed)
Don't forget your nobrella

(, Tue 4 Jun 2013, 12:31, closed)
I don't understand how.
Nicholas Cage is white, whereas Will Smith is a black guy.

You must be incredibly stupid.
(, Tue 4 Jun 2013, 12:56, closed)

(, Tue 4 Jun 2013, 13:43, closed)
Pulp Fiction is pretty damn fine
I also like the way that I heard its soundtrack in pretty much every nightclub I went to for the three years following its release
