This is a question Conspicuous Consumption

Have you ever been photographed sat on a balcony eating a croissant; or wallowed in luxury just for the sake of it? What's the most ostentatious thing you ever seen or done?

Bacon Sandwiches
I insist on having at least 3 slices of bacon in a bacon sandwich. Sometimes even 4. The standard 2 just isn't enough and just feels like a mouthful of bread.

Similarly
when I make a sausage sandwich, I don't slice the sausages in half - just put 3 or 4 whole sausages in (easier to handle if you use thin sausages and squeeze firmly before lifting).

um.... WHAT "standard" 2 slices per butty??
it might be just me being fat, but I've NEVER settled for just 2 slices of bread in a bacon butty, it has got to be 3 or more! (you can never have enough bacon)

And as for cutting sausages in half - this practice is for the "povs"! If I'm making a sausage butty, I use 3 full butcher's pork sausages. I'm not a snob, but I prefer a sausage butty to have good quality meat, and for each sausage to be thick enough to make Katie Price wince

Standard practise
Does tend to be 2 slices of bacon. It's what you'll get in a cafe.
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 13:12, closed)
Try
A different cafe. 2 slices is for mugs and thin people :)
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 13:21, closed)
How many slices of bread do you have if you won't settle for two?

(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 14:02, closed)
I'm a 'tard....
pwned :(
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 23:01, closed)
Well
I am a 4 slice girl myself - I have curves to maintain. Stick a fried egg on it too whilst you are making them - be round in 10 minutes. Will it be red or brown sauce though?
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 13:23, closed)
Neither
Salad cream
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 13:24, closed)
Salad cream is wrong wrong wrong.
Bacon, ketchup, egg and, if I'm feeling greedy, some black pudding.
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 13:26, closed)
I've read
some fucked up shit on this website. But this is too much.
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 13:27, closed)
Food threads often are.

+1
I agree!! salad cream on a bacon butty??? what is wrong with these people!?!?!?!
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 13:33, closed)
They're probably French.

(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 13:39, closed)
MORE I say
More of this French-bashing
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 13:49, closed)
Red
I'm not northern.
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 13:26, closed)
Try this
Get one of those sausages which is wound up in a spiral. Might be called chipolata. Cook it. Put it in a beefburger bun. Eat. Don't forget to remove the stick which holds it together before eating.
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 13:28, closed)
you mean a cumberland sausage

(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 13:33, closed)
What a fantastic idea.
I shall practice this weekend.
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 13:40, closed)
I always make my BS with streaky bacon
Which means at least 5 rashers.
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 13:29, closed)
bacon.
exciting the internet since 1991.
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 13:39, closed)
what excites you then, janet?
what gets your rasher drizzling?
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 13:51, closed)
I hate sausages
but i like quorn ones. I'm not a vegetarian. Discuss.
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 13:52, closed)
There's no need to discuss
When someone is obviously wrong.
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 14:03, closed)
After years living with a vegetarian, I can say that Quorn sausages aren't that bad.
What am I even saying? My life is hell, kill me now.
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 14:47, closed)
That's a puny bacon sammich
A true bacon sandwich is a slice of bread between eight slices of bacon. Or just some bacon between slices of bacon.
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 14:03, closed)
Have you ever
Had a KFC DoubleDown sandwich? It's a similar concept. Chicken with more chicken as the bun. themasticatorblog.blogspot.com/2011/03/remembering-double-down.html

what fresh hell is this?

Bacon a sandwiches are't equal.
There’s the standard waterlogged back bacon in generic sliced white and flora. OK it’s better than no Bacon sandwich but…

Grill dry cured streaky bacon, lightly toasted crusty bread, butter, tomato sauce.
AND
Microwave a slice of Serrano ham for two minutes and add just before serving. In microwaving the Serrano will become a crisp essence of grilled bacon that will give crunch and depth of baconess to the sarnny the like of which you’ve never experienced.
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 14:22, closed)
Takes notes
Microwave ham though? Really? I'm up for trying it if it can make bacon butties even nicer
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 14:49, closed)
while that sounds good
I wouldnt want to mess with tradition...which is as much bacon as I can fit on a roll, none of this bread nonsense
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 16:20, closed)
I'm living with my family of Muslims at the moment...
... which means I'm fasting. I still have another two hours and 46 minutes to go and all I want is a sausage bap filled with sausagey goodness and fried onions.

What am I not going to have to open my fast with? A sausage bap filled with sausagey goodness and fried onions. :'(
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 18:06, closed)
I suppose either
sausage or bacon would detract slightly from the whole Muslim ethos of the thing, and therefore be a bit of a faux pas. Unlucky. Sneaky packet of pork scratchings out of sight, maybe?
(, Wed 3 Aug 2011, 19:52, closed)
It's alright
Somebody on here talked about poppadoms so I went out and got some poppadoms and had that.

And fruit chaat.
And samosas.
And pakoras.

Then I had tea with biscuits!

This might sound like I ate a lot but I only had one teeny tiny samsoa and one huge pakora.
