Camper Vans, Motor Homes and stuff
Have any of you ever bought/owned/sold or spent time in a Motor Home?

I'm thinking of either buying or renting one.

Seeing how well they hold their value, I was wondering if any of you have had one for a year, and how much it depreciated?

I can probably go to about £4,500-£5,000 and I'm thinking that something in the 'Transit' family might be more affordable.

Any info/advice would be lovely.

Why is it...

Professional athletes do everything humanly possible to reduce drag, increase aerodynamicness, reduce weight and increase speed and efficiency.

So why is it that in the 21st century, they still use safety pins to pin their numbers to their tops? Surely they could be issued with the numbers beforehand and print or iron them on?

Seriously - does anyone know?

Those of you that warned me about Barca
you were right, the place was full of fucking pickpockets!

They were fucking blatant too! One actually managed to pick my wallet (end of a night out so only slummy left, thankfully).

Got his just deserts though when he wasn't quick enough to get away from me...

Good morning everyone.
It's a fine, beautiful Tuesday and I woke up to a grey fluffeh purring in my face.
Now I just need to train him to make coffee.....

Dozy gits!
Having mostly given up swearing at Christmas (inspired by The Stig - who'd have thought?) I've occasionally been at a loss to evoke my feelings with the right words.

So... share with us the insults and expletives you use when in polite company.

My current favourite: knackers!

Calling All Computer Game Nerds/Fans
Please help me. I've recently purchased Brothers in Arms 3, GTA4, Far Cry 2, COD5, FIFA2009 and Fallout 3.

All these games are a bit shit although COD5 is decent online.

If you don't like computer games please suggest what I should spend my £25ish on?

Which game should I buy?

What would be the best advertising slogan or movie tag line to shout at climax?

Eg: Finger lickin' good!

Google
Have they changed the way Google works? Previously I would type a letter (eg A would bring up all searches beginning with A) and it would bring up my previous searches. Now it brings up 'suggested' searches.

Whats going on?

Edit: all sorted

Scotland microbashes anyone?
Hi,

As my office shuts down for Easter, I've decided to turn my trip to the Edinburgh bash into a week-long trip to Scotland and the far North of England. Would any local b3tans up there be up for a microbash when I'm passing their way?

Is anyone else turning their trip to Edinburgh into an epic adventure?

A funny thing happened tonight
I was walking past the fridge and could have sworn I heard the onions singing Bee Gees songs.

On opening the door, I discovered that it was just the chives talking...

Woohoo!
After a truly shitty week (flu, stomach bug, morning sickness, snow storm leading to power cuts), I decided to finally book my flights back to the UK - only to find that they've dropped in price by $100! So I'm escaping america at the beginning of may, and for a good deal less than I'd budgeted for.

Now I just need to find some hot water so I can have a hot drink, and all will be well.

Has anyone else had an acceptable monday?

hello, off topic
Leaving for the airport, seeing my younger brother/best friend off. He is going to start college, and I couldn't be prouder. Certainly there will be tears. Some of you have met him, and know how special he is to me.

Cheers, Robin. Well done. Miss you already!

We should be proud...

The Oz Police
Have just sent me an SMS warning me of extreme weather tonight/tomorrow and asking me to be careful not TO GET BURNT TO DEATH!!!

It's oddly comforting that they care.

The bush-fires over here are no bloody joke. I just hope the next couple of days are the last danger days and the fires are finally brought under control.

And I truly hope that we get through the rest of the fire season without any more deaths.

Oh - and my heartfelt thanks to the professional CFA and, even more, to the thousands of volunteer firemen who have spent the last few weeks working 12 hours on, 12 hours off. Guys and girls - you are fucking awesome.

Cheers

Kittens may be nice, cats are bastards.
Met an old girlfriend in the pub at lunchtime yesterday. She said she was very worried about her cat because she could not get him to swallow antibiotics needed to clear up an eye infection.

Having some knowledge of animals (?) (b'cos I once saw a vet wrap a cat in a towel in order to adminster a drug,) I offered to help.

Went back to hers, captured cat, found old towel.
RIGHT! Firm but gentle.

To cut a long story short- the cat escaped the towel, ran up my arm, and not content with slashing my forearm to bits, it managed to get one of its claws stuck in my stitches. (forgot to mention, I have 8 stitches in my elbow following some minor surgery)

PAIN.? yes.
WEEPING.? oh yes
CHOKED THE CAT TO DEATH.? no, only because I could not catch the little bastatrd.

Back to casualty. I'm on first name terms with most of the nurses now. So every cloud.....
