Stuck in my head
For some reason - some half-heard or misread phrase triggering a memory - I've had The Stranglers "Death and Night and Blood" stuck in my head for half the evening. For a few years on Usenet my signature was "Home is a black leather jacket fitting sweetly to my brain" but I haven't heard it in probably 10 years or more.

What's the strangest song you've had stuck in your head recently?

W00t and yay!
Today I have managed to get 4 months talktime on my mobile using my clubcard vouchers, get lunches for the month for under a fiver due to Lidl having ridiculous prices, plant all my marrow and pumkin seedlings, get signed up for an NHS dentist & get two tickets to see Tim Minchin.

My day's fucking rocked, what about yours?

The Coolest start of a TV show EVER...
...has to be this:

Disagree? What would you say was the Coolest?

Any non-hairy bikers out there?
I want to learn how to ride a motorbike, but I refuse to crawl around the city on a rubbishy little 'scootay' that sounds like the crazy frog on helium, so I wondered if there were any biker people out there who might be able to recommend me a sweet-ass bike that's not hugely expensive and that I'll be able to pick up if it falls over at traffic lights.

Ta!

Gotta love the Irish
A North Clare resident who admitted to masturbating while following young women around Galway City may be stripped of his crown as Ireland’s Most Romantic Man.

May be? Hmm, it's a tough decision.

Hey
I've been cut off from the rest of the world out in the jungle.
Upon my return, I see there's no more HSH threads, what's the deal?

Remember off-topic when it was all fluffiness and boob jiggling.
*sigh*

I haven't had an internet hug for weeks now : (

Ladies and Gentlemen!
I have arrived! I have achieved true validation on the internet!

None other than Jam Master Geordie is a fan of me!

Discuss this please, but don't get upset.

And no fat birds.

I have a question... (my first on the OT board - eeeep)
...If you had the power to splice two animals together, to make one amazing animal of JOY, what two animals would you pick?

I would splice a duck and a pig, so it would basically be a pig with a ducks beak, ducks feet and wings!

DUCK-PIG, DUCK-PIG!

(I clearly have too much time on my hands, I’m aware of this).

I have an embarrassing question.
I was talking to the mr vampyrecat today and he quoted "ooo Matron!".

When I honestly confessed I had no idea what the hell he was on about - he said to ask you lot.

So please - someone enlighten me?

I LIKE DIZZIE RASCAL.
There, I've said it. It's out in the open and I can't take it back.

Professor Julian Legrand
Has just been on the radio arguing that cohabiting (or even non-cohabiting) couples who have a child together should, when they go to register the birth, be automatically married by the State. Even if said couple are not actually a couple and including if one of them is already married (he did say they'd need to get divorced first).

Regardless of the rationale behind this argument (it will give the woman and child more rights, even after a split, apparently) is this not the most barn arsed piece of 'thintank thinking' committed for public debate in a long time?

A question of etiquette
A mate of mine just asked me how many dates should he have to go on with his new missus before he comes on her face?

I said he should at least have met the parents.

Waddya think - too soon, or too long?

Rant number 1,877
When I grow up I want to be an MP. Get caught with your hand in the till, then call yourself a decent sort for paying back your ill gotten gains! Don’t the rest of us have to go to gaol for theft? I’ve yet to hear of anyone getting let off at the Magistrates with the defence “Well I’ll pay back what you caught me nicking, then, and we can all call it quits”. What a country.

What is your ideal recession busting job?

Where's Bert?
I kinda miss the daft old cunt.

Edit: let's be having your conspiracy theories and nuggets for the rumour mill, then.

Hands up who likes the new nested replies
*holds arm aloft*

I like them and think they've contributed to OT tremendously as it is clear who you are replying to.

Fuck that depressing QOTW, its inspiration time.
Jesus, if I wanted to depress myself I could look at stare at the grey 'go faster' stripes I'm developing down the side of me head, so reading any more of those QOTW replies is off the list.

So, I thought about the thing I did in the past that I've drawn most inspiration from when I'm down, namely, I've done 2 'Firewalks' (you know, 12 foot of red-hot coal, bare feet, do the walk and don't even get a singed hair - amazing). If I can do that, I tell myself, I can do anything!

What inspires you from your past?

Hurrray! Thursday is my Friday this week :)
My partners son graduates from Arizona State University this weekend, so we're flying out on Friday morning.
He had his commencement today, and President Obama was the Speaker.

Well I'm back from the St Etienne gig in Glasgow...
and it gives me great pleasure to report the following...
Sarah Cracknell is still "fit", perhaps "fitter" than ever before? indeed the cod-eye seems to have sorted itself out.
it was a truley wondereful gig, a rather cozey(?) atmosphere, somewhat "lounge"?
great marrying of audio and visual, a hint of self-consciousness, rather knowing, very cool.
the most chilled yet excited gig i've been to in years.
the abc1, 300 sauchiehall street is a really groovy venue and i look forward to going there again.

all in all, well worth the 200 mile round-trip and the 14 year wait!
over and out,
B69

Not me. I don't know enough management speak.

Needing help!
I'm just finishing my degree in Education, I have loads of experience in working with children with behaviour problems.
I really want to work in the area of child mental health/ behaviour but I'm not sure what types of jobs I could go for without doing a degree in Psychology.
I've asked loads of people for help but no-one seems to have any ideas, therefore I'm asking you lovely people!
Do any of you know what types of jobs I could head towards without starting a whole new degree?

My friend's got a girlfriend and he hates that bitch, he tells me every day.

He says man, I really gotta loose my chick, in the worst kind of way.

Man, I love The Offspring, they're great.

Do you know who else is great? I'm great.

Tell me why I'm great, or The Offspring, I'm easy eaither way.
