I'm mildly upset over something absolutely ridiculous
I've gone off chilli. This means that the shedloads of it I have in my freezer will be sitting there for quite some time. This is even worse than the time I went off fish fingers.

When was the last time something ridiculously trivial upset you?

Alt: What was the last film you saw that you'd recommend to others? For me, it's The Town. I saw that it was written by Ben Affleck, which put me off somewhat, but it's absolutely excellent.

Alt Alt: What's your full job title?

I get a bit annoyed when people don't instantly respond to my emails.
Which is stupid I know and I'm guilty of it as well, still I think, oh maybe it's not connected and restart outlook/gmail.

Why should he owe you a free film just because you paid money for packaged shit?
I never bought them and there was a good reason for that!
(, Mon 17 Oct 2011, 14:02, Reply)
I wasn't aware they were going to be THAT bad.
The first one was amusing in how poor it was, but at least it had fight scenes to improve it somewhat, the second was just fucking dire.
(, Mon 17 Oct 2011, 14:03, Reply)
Make it into other things
Chilli lasagne, chilli enchiladas, etc.

In terms of being upset, it gets on my fucking tits the way when anyone complains now in our company, they always send it to a director. There is no middle ground, 0 - 100 all the time. This is fucking annoying as most of the time there isn't actually a big issue

Fuck, thats a hard question. Last two films I saw were Jackass 3 and the A Team.

Jackass 3 had some moments that had me howling with laughter
But on the whole, I found it to be pretty poor.

Although the 'Sweat Suit Cocktail' scene make me want to vomit, which is a first.

Captain America is surprisingly good. As for something trivial that upsets me I have nothing. My colleagues aren't happy though, apparently we're not going to be allowed on the internet when all work is done before long. Not that I care, I leave this shithole of a company on Friday anyways.
(, Mon 17 Oct 2011, 13:53, Reply)
CA is good?
I'm quite surprised, as all who have recommended it to me so far have been slavering comic book geeks who think all of the comic book films of the last 10 years have been excellent.
(, Mon 17 Oct 2011, 13:57, Reply)
I liked CA.
Oh...
(, Mon 17 Oct 2011, 14:00, Reply)
You didn't recommend it
The people who have recommended it so far are those who think that Spiderman 3, Daredevil, Elektra, etc are good films.
(, Mon 17 Oct 2011, 14:02, Reply)
Well I did have that moment where I thought I liked Daredevil...
and I don't totally hate all of Spiderman 3. Although I can't imagine a situation where I'd ever bother to sit through it again to find out if the bits I thought were OK really were OK.
(, Mon 17 Oct 2011, 14:04, Reply)
I quite looked forward to Spiderman 3
I left the cinema in horror that it was so utterly poor. I quite enjoyed Spiderman 2 (preferred it over the first one, tbh), but I didn't expect that they could make an already ludicrous plot idea even more ridiculous.
(, Mon 17 Oct 2011, 14:06, Reply)
After I posted that, I started trying to remember what I liked and disliked about Spider-Man 3
but I've realised that I can barely remember a thing about it. I know it had Sandman and Venom in it, but not what happened at any point at all.

And Spider-Man 2 is probably the greatest example of how that sort of comic book movie should be made.
(, Mon 17 Oct 2011, 14:10, Reply)
Have someone who can actually act as the bad guy?
Then again, Willem Dafoe was good in the first, but Tobey Maguire was just absolutely dire.

If you can't remember about Spiderman 3, be glad.

(, Mon 17 Oct 2011, 13:53, Reply)
Transformers 3 really is dire, isn't it?
First time I watched it, I found it to be good fun, but it showed quite how bad at acting the two leads were. The second time, the only parts worth watching are the last 10 minutes, and any of the scenes with Simmons on screen.

In better news, this morning I had a letter from the council
saying that they had incrrectly/illegally given me a parking ticket in 2009 and now want to pay me back. This is unprecedented.
(, Mon 17 Oct 2011, 14:04, Reply)
Find out what interest they would have charged you over the same period
And insist on receiving the same from them. If they contacted you out of the blue, they have probably been compelled to do so by losing some other similar battle that didn't involve you.
(, Mon 17 Oct 2011, 14:06, Reply)
It's funny you say that as a new friend of mine recently fought and won an appeal on a ticket he got in the same place
he argued that unless the council can prove that it is dangerous for a traffic warden to ticket a car in person, then they cannot use remote cameras and camera cars...he won so I guess this could be related.
(, Mon 17 Oct 2011, 14:09, Reply)
Councils are usually very quick to escalate the penalty on a fine like this
probably in order to reduce the incidence of unpaid fines. But it usually doubles in value for every month that you don't pay it. You could try suggesting a similar rate to them?
(, Mon 17 Oct 2011, 14:13, Reply)
I contesteed once, and never heard back, I therefore assumed that they had accepted
6 months later they said my claim was rejected and I had to pay; how can they bully me into responding within 14 days or i'm penalised and then take six months to reply.

i hope they all get cock cancer
(, Mon 17 Oct 2011, 14:19, Reply)
That must have huge implications, if that was the basis on which he won and there wasn't another technicality at play.

Being a somewhat pathetic person with little influence over my life or the world...
I tend to get upset over all sorts of trivial things - minor traffic offences, people on the news - you know the sorts of things. I deal with this by shouting ineffectually which annoys my wife and confuses my son.

Alt: I don't watch films. I recommend you read a book.

AltAlt: I asked my boss this when I had to fill in the census. It turns out I don't have one. No one really knows what it is I do and I often find it hard to describe to people. I don't admit to spending a lot of time on here though.

Not a fucking clue.
I've only played pool once in my entire life. I nearly got beaten up by some yokels in Lyme Regis afterwards, so that was the end of my pool career.

The King's Cross snooker club is supposed to be quite good, but I've no idea whether pool even goes on in such places or whether it is frowned upon. Sorry.

It's a test
You are likely to fail, but this won't necessarily have any bearing on her opinion of you because she will make (or already have made) her decision about whether she likes you or not based on something entirely unrelated that you will never understand.
That is the sum total of my knowledge on women. Good luck with that.

Even that is still a million times more than the Luggage will ever know.

I might just reply with a link to Timeout and say "make your own fucking decision"

Bound to impress her

But she'll probably go without you then. Soz.

I wish I could have made it, but the Mrs already had other plans...
It sounds as though most folks enjoyed it though.

I only recovered my turntables and records a few days ago.
I was rather worried they'd either nicked them themselves or not kept them locked up safe - but all was well.

I (Stunned and I) think I (we)'ll do one of them every year, so you have plenty of notice for next time...
(, Mon 17 Oct 2011, 15:20, Reply)
I will be at the next one

London is a sprawling Metropolis.
She'll have as much idea what is going on in it as you have. I suspect that being a bloke, she'll think you have a better chance of sussing out a decent pool venue.

Hullo Monts.
Good to see you again, hope I didn't infect you on your birthday.

Usually when my sister starts a conversation by text and then fails to follow up, like so:
Her: So do you fancy meeting up for a drink later in the week?
Me: Sure, I'm free Wednesday or Thursday which works for you?
*Tectonic plates move, new species evolve*
Her: I free either day, but I'm not sure which I prefer.
Me: OK, how abo0ut Thursday then?
*another ice ageetc*
and so on until finally snap and call her.

Alt: RED was pretty decent and I enjoyed it for the acting tallent alone.

That book is excellent.

Ah, glad you liked it.
Picked it up for myself ages back but got bored with tedious tales of people I'd never heard of, I was about to chuck it on the charity pile when I thought "I know who would like tales of obscure early rock'n'roll!", if it has gone to a good home then this is far better than mouldering in Oxfam. :)
