Alt: Do you mean first album or first CD?
The first album I ever bought was Beatles For Sale on cassette ('member cassettes?), the first record I ever bought was Revolver. I was quite a late adopter of CDs so the first one I bought was probably In It For The Money.
Also, good morning.

It goes without saying that everything that Oasis did was terrible.
There were several long-forgotten bands who jumped on the Britpop bandwagon to try to claim their 15 minutes who were atrocious.
There were however, a few bands lumped in with Britpop that were quite good though.
I think the worst genre to be tagged in though would have to be Post-Britpop.

They had a few "hits" some years ago and have dropped off the radar, more or less exactly since they released the depressingly accurate self-reflection "Everything is Average Nowadays".
However they were wheeled out to perform a Who track at the Olympic closing ceremony, despite the fact that the Who were there and closed the night. Bizarre.

Oasis also get extra stick for the following reasons;
1. They were all over every radio in the country for two or three years which just makes them all the more hateable

I've often wondered what would happen if someone at the NME or Radio 1
just stuck their head above the parapet and said "Hang on... this is SHITE!" about whatever hot new band they were currently bigging up for fear of looking uncool if they didn't. Badly Drawn Boy's entire career was substantiated by this fear.

The NME has often been a great offender for this sort of thing
But the Melody Maker, unsurprisingly not long before its demise, had an editor who refused to allow negative reviews of bands like Oasis.
I've even seen an honest review of Oasis' dire third album by the excellent Taylor Parks, having five stars put at the top by sub-editor, despite it being anything but a five star review.

To be honest, it wasn't really meant to be a secret
which is a good job, seeing as battered obviously can't keep a secret for toffee.
I just didn't think it was a good idea to come blazing in shouting about how I have dominion over all of you and mwah hah haaaaaaaaah etc.
Anyway, you all better behave now, or else.

That is why so many talkers keep popping up on here. They are lonely and need love.

the first cd i bought was the "dirty dancing" soundtrack - i was about 11. dad brought our first cd player home from work and told me to get in the car quickly to go and buy a cd. we got to "our price" at 5.58pm and it shut at 6pm, so i just grabbed the first thing i saw.
mind you, i still fucking love a bit of "dirty dancing", me.

As is Bad, although the genre is rather wider and was arguably beyond redemption by that point
AfD is a masterpiece of an album regardless of the way its genre went downhill rapidly thereafter.
