How old is too old? Plenty of hot women/handsome chaps in their forties these days, but is there a rule for how far one can go?
alt: You know how i know you're gay? you like Coldplay.

altalt:ponytail, combover or buzz cut, how will you take going bald?
(, Mon 20 Aug 2012, 15:09, 210 replies, latest was 12 years ago)
altalt. That's cruel.

(, Mon 20 Aug 2012, 15:11, Reply)
Why, it'll happen to many of us at some point*
*not me though, strong hair genes in my family
(, Mon 20 Aug 2012, 15:13, Reply)
i sincerely hope never to go bald
unless you mean other than the head, in which case waxing or permanent laser hair removal. certainly NOT a ponytail or a combover.
(, Mon 20 Aug 2012, 15:11, Reply)
How much would it cost to gte your legs lasered so no hair ever grew again and how would that compare to the cost of a lifetimes shaving/waxing?

(, Mon 20 Aug 2012, 15:14, Reply)
it depends completely on how hairy your legs are in the first place
normally takes between 6-12 sessions. there is some cynicism in my mind as to whether the salons do it as thoroughly as they could - why charge for 6, when they could charge for 12?

i'd have thought about £1,500 for legs, let's say. salon near me does a deal, £3,000 for any body parts you like, over 3 years.
(, Mon 20 Aug 2012, 15:21, Reply)
There's no such thing as too old is there?
I don't personally find many women in their 40s attractive, but I probably will when I'm in my 40s
(, Mon 20 Aug 2012, 15:14, Reply)
Jennifer Aniston is in her forties, and has a hot body

(, Mon 20 Aug 2012, 15:15, Reply)
I agree, and I think I would enjoy her company.
Not saying there aren't attractive 40 year olds. Just that I don't find the same proportion of women in their 20s and and women in their 40s year attractive.

Alt: You can call me gay all you like, but don't you dare accuse me of liking Coldplay.

Altalt: I think I may have dodged that bullet. I will turn 36 on Thursday and still have a full head of hair.
(, Mon 20 Aug 2012, 15:16, Reply)
Are you planning on DYAAKY on thursday, as otherwsie you have a few years left yet
gran's been dead for 30 years so probably is a little too old

(, Mon 20 Aug 2012, 15:19, Reply)
to go bald

(, Mon 20 Aug 2012, 15:21, Reply)
It is getting less and less likely
Most men who go bald are well aware of it by their twenties, often earlier (see scarpe's post below).
I am still showing no signs of losing any.
(, Mon 20 Aug 2012, 15:22, Reply)
yeah, but when you are 80
actually do vegetarians even live that long?

I believe the term is
"enjoying being single".
(, Mon 20 Aug 2012, 15:28, Reply)

enjoying being single I am unable to meet anyone who would even contemplate sharing a bed with me let alone any bodily fluids, but i can't admit this to myself or anyone else so I'll pretend it is my decision

I've been 13 years older than me. A t the time that seemed fine. But at the age I am now, that makes her 51, which doesn't seems quite right.
Alt: Shaved head. Luckily I have the right shaped head for it to look OK. Which is handy, as I've had to shave it since I was about 26. And probably should have started doing it about three years before that.

At the tender age of 39 my hair is starting to thin a little. I have it buzzed to a grade 3 every 3 weeks. When the rest goes I will go down to a grade 2 or possibly 1.
I do not like Coldplay's music, but I have met Chris Martin a couple of dozen times over the last few years as we're both involved with a particular charity. He's a good bloke for a vegetarian.

In other news I have accidentally drilled in to my left thumbnail. It fucking hurts, to the point where I have been feeling sick and lightheaded. I need to go back to work to recover.

EDIT: I have edited this post to highlight my injury as I appear to not be getting any sympathy from you bastards.

(, Mon 20 Aug 2012, 15:53, Reply)
The problem is your thumb is swelling and trying to pull your thumb nail off.
Stick it in ice and take some asprin or ibuprofen to reduce the swelling.
Have you got blood trapped under the nail? If so might be worth going to a walk in center where they'll drill a small hole in your thumb to let it out. I've had it happen twice, very very painful.
(, Mon 20 Aug 2012, 15:38, Reply)
The nail has split & blood is leaking out of underneath it. Good idea about the asprin.

(, Mon 20 Aug 2012, 15:40, Reply)
Ahh not exactly the same as mine. Mine was hit with a hammer and trapped in bike frame.
So the blood couldn't get out. Still it's the swelling pulling against the nail that's causing that horrible pain so get the swelling down and you'll be ok.
(, Mon 20 Aug 2012, 15:44, Reply)
Alternativley if you're a bit bear grylls, you can stick a paper clip into a cork.
Heat it on the hob until it's red hot and burn a hole through you nail to release the pressure.
(, Mon 20 Aug 2012, 15:41, Reply)

once I've had sleep - We left site at about 2:30 this morning, got home 3:45 and I've been at work all day.

The most fun bits were the bands in Chai Wallas (lots of world music-y bluesy kind of things, including a band who I was sat with round the campfire Saturday - btw this is not a very good Monty-esque story, don't get excited)

Oh, and one fun bit was Robin Ince reading sections of 'Crabs on the Rampage) while Pictish Trail did some improv music over the top. It was perfect

I refuse to answer this question on the grounds of ridicule.
Alt: I am not, and I certainly don't. Except Viva La Vida. For some reason I really love that song.
Altalt: wig. Funky purple one with curls. I'll look like Grotbags goth cousin.

^Also, Tangles is now on my LIST.^

oh I would totally go for a wig
think of the fun you could have changing your hair everyday without that bothersome business with hairdressers
(, Mon 20 Aug 2012, 16:35, Reply)
I'm going to the hairdressers this week.
TRUFAX.
I figure it's about time I had a total hairstyle change. I am very excited about this.

i think she should keep the spikes but go purple on one side

really?! fair enough
doesn't sound like it's very long which would be restrictive

About five shades of blonde (for some reason it won't make up its mind)
quite long, very fine, and kind of curly but not curly enough to look good.

It's going to get shorter, and hopefully have some kind of shape to it so it looks passable in company.

I've told my mum to put that book down immediately
and pick up some Anais Nin. That's some better-written filth, right there.

I hate going to hairdressers
what's it going to be?
(, Mon 20 Aug 2012, 16:38, Reply)
Oh man, I'd rather go to the dentist than the hairdresser.
It's the sitting there, making small talk, while staring at your stupid fat face in a massive mirror that I really hate.
(, Mon 20 Aug 2012, 16:48, Reply)
i read magazine these days

(, Mon 20 Aug 2012, 16:49, Reply)
You have to take your glasses off to get your hair cut
which renders me pretty much blind, as far as reading goes.
(, Mon 20 Aug 2012, 16:50, Reply)
get a book in braile

(, Mon 20 Aug 2012, 16:53, Reply)
This is why I don't understand why girls with alopecia get so upset

(, Mon 20 Aug 2012, 16:36, Reply)
Oh I totally would be upset
hair is inexplicably part of one's identity. I need mine to hide behind and/or flick around while dancing
(, Mon 20 Aug 2012, 16:38, Reply)
Probably the losing their eyebrows and eyelashes, etc.
And teh whole stress and trauma that comes with alopecia in the first place.

The people in my family (well, the side I take after) have notoriously thinning hair, which also goes white very young.
Not a great look for women.

Go and get somebody to put a plaster on it and give you a lolly for being brave already.
