Interviews money and jobs oh my.
I'm posting this because it didn't get enough attention yesterday.

www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2013/feb/01/artist-cheque-milton-keynes-gallery

So is this a big con, is it worth me having a look around tonight?
(, Tue 5 Feb 2013, 12:32, 142 replies, latest was 12 years ago)
I don't see why it wouldn't be worth you having a look.
At the worst you will go and visit an art gallery.
(, Tue 5 Feb 2013, 12:35, Reply)
That's true, and it's free to look around!
MK is great.

Hahaha, I can just picture myself picking up some poncy 200 year old table, flipping it over, smashing it up, then moving onto the next exhibit.
Then as I walk out the place, leaving a trail of distruction, someone'll ask me if I found the cheque, and I'll reply "What cheque?".

(, Tue 5 Feb 2013, 13:08, Reply)
Hey Chompy, I just read issue 92 of X Men.
Have you read any comics recently?
(, Tue 5 Feb 2013, 13:05, Reply)
Nah, I'm not really into them
My old housemate had hundreds so I just said "what are the best 5" and read them. Which were watchmen, a couple of batman ones and one about Iron man dying.
(, Tue 5 Feb 2013, 13:06, Reply)
I have some batman ones to read at home.
I'm a bit concerned though, because the way comic book nerds bang on about them you would think they weer great literature, or possibly incredibly well drawn. But all the "classic" ones i've read have been drawn like comics and have fairly basic storylines.

I enjoyed Watchmen, but it's not exactly "The Count of Monte Cristo".
(, Tue 5 Feb 2013, 13:07, Reply)
The classic ones are shit to be honest.
There's a really good batman one, which barely has batman in it. It's about how one street kid ends up as one of Jokers henchmen. Worth a read.
(, Tue 5 Feb 2013, 13:08, Reply)
What's it called?

(, Tue 5 Feb 2013, 13:09, Reply)
Might be this one
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Batman:_The_Killing_Joke
(, Tue 5 Feb 2013, 13:12, Reply)
I've got that one to read
It's one that is considered a "classic"
(, Tue 5 Feb 2013, 13:13, Reply)
oh, I thought you meant classic as in, from the 60s

(, Tue 5 Feb 2013, 13:14, Reply)
Some of them are.
But I'm thinking of things like the Dark Phoenix storyline in Xmen and the Knightfall story when Bane breaks batmans back and the one when one of the Robins dies.
(, Tue 5 Feb 2013, 13:25, Reply)
I used to quite like The Beano.

(, Tue 5 Feb 2013, 13:09, Reply)
I'm all about Little Plum.

(, Tue 5 Feb 2013, 13:23, Reply)
The Count of Monte Cristo is one of my all-time favourite books.
I think it's been long enough since my last read of it that I'm allowed another go.
(, Tue 5 Feb 2013, 13:12, Reply)
You can always have another go.
At least, that's what your mum always told every passing stranger on the kings road.
(, Tue 5 Feb 2013, 13:14, Reply)
But in seriousness, it is a great book.
I think I prefer The Three Musketeers, but only just.
(, Tue 5 Feb 2013, 13:14, Reply)
It's a tough call but I think I favour the Count - but again only just.

(, Tue 5 Feb 2013, 13:15, Reply)
I have read them both and thought they were ok.
But given that Dumas had a life of excess until he finally died in penury, I can see why you approve.
(, Tue 5 Feb 2013, 13:18, Reply)
YOURN a 'Dum-ass'

(, Tue 5 Feb 2013, 13:20, Reply)
Do you work for HTC?
Both of these books came free on the book thingy on my phone.
(, Tue 5 Feb 2013, 13:16, Reply)
You can get them on Project Gutenberg
Anything over 50 years or something is now out of copyright and can be downloaded for free. AND IT'S NOT THEFT!
(, Tue 5 Feb 2013, 13:21, Reply)
As that the one where Wolverine bums Professor x witjh his massive metal cock?

(, Tue 5 Feb 2013, 13:06, Reply)
Yeah.
Also, I don't understand why it's impossible to actually buy these old comics. I get that the original first editions are valuable if you like that sort of shit, but why no reprint them for people who have heard that a story was good but don't actually want to track down obscure shit in shops run by sweaty virgins?
(, Tue 5 Feb 2013, 13:09, Reply)
It's prolly a nerd conspiracy designed to keep prices high.

(, Tue 5 Feb 2013, 13:12, Reply)
It's the same with records.
In order to make it worthwhile they would have to produce limited runs of the reprints, with a premium price.
Then these would all sell out to collectors and soon you would end up with sellers flogging the reissues at similar prices to the originals.
(, Tue 5 Feb 2013, 13:15, Reply)
High Rise II by Japrock legends High Rise was repressed as a 1000 run about ten years ago.
It's £500. Wot cunts, I really want that. cf Shogun Assasin soundtrack.

Did you ever read Julian Cope's Japrocksampler?
If so, could you sum it up for me here?
Thanks in advance.
(, Tue 5 Feb 2013, 13:31, Reply)
I have it at home.
It's a list of records and potted histories of the bands who made them.

They're all nips. The end.
(, Tue 5 Feb 2013, 13:33, Reply)
I don't get it, comics are for children and fat warhammer nerds

(, Tue 5 Feb 2013, 13:17, Reply)
Or 'b3tans' as they are known collectively.

Wrong way round.
That's like saying Jimi Hendrix ripped Prince off.

In truth his life is more entertaining than his records. He and his wife got done for 'sexual kidnap' some years ago.

He totally did.

Why would they print a comic about how Prince's paedo dad became the Hulk?

(, Tue 5 Feb 2013, 13:24, Reply)
Bit more entertaining than that bender David Banner wouldn't you say?

(, Tue 5 Feb 2013, 13:25, Reply)
Would I? I dunno, I'm finding this all pretty confusing.
What's James Brown doing on the cover and why're there tanks?
(, Tue 5 Feb 2013, 13:27, Reply)
No you idiot that's Ainsley Harriott.

(, Tue 5 Feb 2013, 13:29, Reply)

Maybe that's why Ainsley's Hulking out.
