It's hallowe'en.
That's fucking spooky.

What are you up to on this night of apparently arbitrary apostrophes, or this weekend? Points if it involves dressing up like Scooby Doo, giving chili sweets to kids, or putting fireworks through people's letterboxes.

I love cheese and tomato sandwiches!

I'm going to
go and buy a pack of cigarettes later.

I don't smoke, but from what I've seen recently, cigarettes seem to be the de facto Halloween treat.

Thanks to bill for that one

morning!
I did something that didn't involve b3ta last night.
I went to my friend's flat to plan his girlfriend's surprise birthday party. It is going to be ace!

I still talked about b3ta a fair bit to him. It's not an obsession, it's a lifestyle choice.

How is everyone this morning then?

Mr Nong :)
I think I've got a cold, but I'm getting mentally prepared for going out on the piss tonight, for the first time in a few months. I'll probably be in bed by ten o'clock :)

I'm going to a party tonight.
I have a feeling I'm not going to last long. I might have to have a nap before I go out.

That's a good idea actually.
I finish work at five... maybe I'll get my head down for an hour or two before going out. Only problem is, I've tried it before, turned my alarm off and gone back to sleep, and woken up at 3am. Arse :(
(, Fri 31 Oct 2008, 8:15, Reply)
I hope I don't do that!
I'm really excited about tonight and I'll be gutted if I sleep through it.

Hopefully a half hour nap will be enough. Gahh all this nap talk has made me ready to go back to bed.

Have a rubbish joke
because I'm bored.

A woman has twins and gives them up for adoption. One of them goes to a family in Egypt and is named "Amal." The other goes to a family in Spain, they name him "Juan".
Years later, Juan sends a picture of himself to his mother. Upon receiving the picture, she tells her husband that she wished she also had a picture of Amal.
Her husband responds,"But they are twins. If you've seen Juan, you've seen Amal!"

A crematorium officer? Sounds like a laugh.

What do you have to do? Light the gas then sweep up the ashes into the little pot or something?

Reminds me of a gig I did a few years back. The place had huge expensive red velvet curtains on the windows. A wag from the audience came up and said to me, "Aye, son, last time I came across a pair of curtains like that I never saw my uncle Willie again".

I seam to have a small hangover this morning.

This could be due to the fact that I was out drinking with Wookie & Drixy (she left early btw) celebrating the upcoming Badger-Lemminge union.

There's a QOTW that I can actually post answers to.

The Crem Officer job could be quite fun
Since he retired, my dad's been working as a part-time undertaker.

In his own words, the job is 'the biggest laugh he's ever had'.

To quote a couple of recent examples, a few weeks ago he had a phonecall that went something like this:

Daddy Duck: Good morning, XYZ funeral services. How can we be of assistance?

Stupid caller: Hello, I'd like to arrange a funeral please.

DD: I'm very sorry to hear that. Firstly, before we can do anything, there's a few legal things we need to sort through. First of all, you'll need to show us the original copy of the death certificate..

SC: Ahh, do you really need that before you can start anything? It's just we'd like to get this sorted as quickly as possible.

DD: I'm afraid so. Until we've sorted out the legal side of things, we can't proceed with any of the other arrangements. Why would it be a problem to deliver the death certificate, if you don't mind me asking?

SC: Well, they're not actually dead yet. But they ARE very poorly...

He also said that you wouldn't believe how many funerals he conducts where there's 'additional people' turn up after the service to pay their weeping respects - in most cases quite obviously the 'bit on the side' of the deceased...
(, Fri 31 Oct 2008, 9:43, Reply)

I haven't played Dead Space, but I've heard it's good.

TGB, Zombie Strippers is awesome. It's deliberately terrible, but manages to chuck in some satire and philosophy amongst the gore and boobies.

Dead Space isn't out yet, as far as I know.
Bioshock was... Ok.
A lot of people loved it, but to me it felt like an RPG that was designed for console-users of lower intelligence than your average, in-depth PC RPG player.

Just my opinion :)

Gears 2 is brilliant, Left4Dead is a lot of fun, Mirror's Edge is fantastic and Tomb Raider is frustrating, as usual. (I may or may not have gone to the Eurogamer expo the other night... *geeks*)

It feels like Tuesday because it's my second day at work.

Perhaps I should dress up to celebrate but I'd have nowhere to go. I feel boring now.

:edit: @TGB Change it to "The Graveyard Badger"

Observations from my trip down town
1 - by fuck it's cold today. There's a strong, cold easterly blowing in off the North Sea. I had on my thick winter fleece over a heavy shirt and woolly jumper and still froze my tits off.

2 - despite this, there are some hardy souls around. I saw one girl wandering around with but a thin t-shirt on. Admittedly, every hair follicle on her skin was standing to attention but otherwise she appeared oblivious to the temperature. They breed them tough around here.

3 - I shouldn't laugh at this but I saw a muslim woman dressed in the full black gear, burqa and everything with the little slot to see out of, with a witch's hat! She had her wee girl with her, so of course that's why she had the hat, but I had to chuckle.

Trick or treat is so American though. And I'm never quite sure what it means - do you have to end up giving the kids something anyway?

Re being stolen - keep a backup account which you can change to your regular name to prevent folk like Madam Marlboro (where is she these days anyway?) from stealing it while you are using an alternative name on your main account.

I dare say Kaol would be able to find a way to steal your name in the fraction of a second which it takes to do the swop though! He's pretty quick, that one...
