Life is treating me well. And it's only four weeks until the days start getting longer.

I'm planning a Great Big Adventure so I'm excited and scared at the same time!
How're you today?
*has been up since six*

What is this big adventure?
I think I need a big adventure too. I am spending my time trying to keep a construction company off the rocks in the worsening storm. Its kind of wearing me down. So enough of that!
Details please!

*big squeezy hugs to everyone just for the hell of it*
I was pretty pleased!
You should take the Haribo to the bash in the spirit of me. Or, also in the same spirit of me, just scoffle them all!

I plan to take a few handfuls of minibags down, whether or not they make it to the bash is a different matter! A two hour train journey, with pockets full of sweets...

Are we all well here, apart from the slightly melting Lab?
( , Wed 26 Nov 2008, 9:28, Reply)

Hopefully I'll be less melting soon, Middle Manager Number One has turned up, and he loves to solve problems. Generally the problems he solves never existed in the first place, but I guess he has to justify his position somehow.

Got to love the middle managers Lab. And this time you'll actually see him solving an actual problem.
( , Wed 26 Nov 2008, 9:44, Reply)

That's all of the awesome. If I were in a better position to offer some help and get involved I would but the future is so uncertain for me at the moment that it wouldn't be a good idea at the moment.
Perhaps in the future though especially if I could get involved by taking people up to Scotland to walk about as not only is Scotland awesome but it'd probably help me a lot too!
Again, all the best with it mate. Hope it works out well for you.

( , Wed 26 Nov 2008, 9:51, Reply)

That's quite a lot Lucy. Glad I don't owe that much, but then I get the tiny little loan, half of which goes towards my computer payments each month. Woo.
I really can't be bothered going in to uni today. I predict a long and fruitless team meeting. What fun it shall be.

We'll be looking for volunteers eventually, when the time is right. All's looking to kick off next summer with the hitch being the major fund- and publicity-raiser for the charity, and everything starting moving after I get back.
I'll put you on the list and keep you informed nearer the time.
Hoping to see a lot of Scotland during my first ten days hitching :)
( , Wed 26 Nov 2008, 9:55, Reply)

I still owe the SLC about £3k, and it's now 5 years since I graduated.
Since the money's disappeared by PAYE ever since I graduated, I've never really noticed not having it if you see what I mean, but when it's paid off (in just over a year hopefully), it'll be like getting a nice £275/month take-home pay rise. :)
( , Wed 26 Nov 2008, 9:56, Reply)

I think I still owe around 10k, which after 4.5 years of paying back between 50 and 180 quid a month, hasn't taken much of a dent off the 10.5k I borrowed from them...
I swear the interest rates on the student loan increase when my salary does.
( , Wed 26 Nov 2008, 9:56, Reply)

I've always thought it'd be nice to do some charity work for a charity aimed at helping people deal with mental illness.
Hopefully when you're looking for volunteers I'll be in a better position to do just that.

Lusty, you a giggling, hiccoughing mess. I don't believe it! ;)
( , Wed 26 Nov 2008, 10:27, Reply)

My biggest problem right now is working out what I want to do. It's a blessing and a curse that I'm able to find pretty much anything that's in some way intellectually stimulating interesting.
This morning on the way to work I was pondering what it'd be like to be involved in the scientific study of painting. That is to say decorative painting with one colour and big brushes and rollers. Not artistic painting! That'd be silly! Hopefully the counselling and CBT I'm going to be starting soon will help me focus my energies better and actually stick to something long enough to achieve my potential at it.
Another thing I'd like to do when I'm older (and have hopefully achieved something worthwhile in the field I finally choose to enter) is write a book about my experiences of being bi polar, dealing with the only persistent goal I have - achieving "great things" and how I've gone about life in the hope of providing the sort of inspiration I've taken from Kay Redfield Jamison's An unquiet mind.
Dammit I'm rambling again!
( , Wed 26 Nov 2008, 10:28, Reply)

You win!
I was going to say clock, but I think your answer is much better.
( , Wed 26 Nov 2008, 10:31, Reply)

I am rather tired this morning, but happy all the same.
( , Wed 26 Nov 2008, 10:34, Reply)

always wanted to do Great Things. At school I was way ahead of everybody in Physics, and towards the end of 6th form I could even teach my teacher things. But I don't do exams well, in fact I hate them! Hence the fact that I never got into uni despite the fact of needing really crap grades, and had my teachers all berating me for what they saw as lazyness.
I still do physics for myself, and fun, and have come up with some startling theorem which I've been told is correct and in advanced of stuff that going on now.
I just can't apply myself properly.
EDIT Morning Drixy, I'm not 'tired' at all today. See I can be a good boy!
( , Wed 26 Nov 2008, 10:38, Reply)

How nice that you remembered that :)
Beekers, of course you can, you naughty thing.
( , Wed 26 Nov 2008, 10:41, Reply)

That sounds exactly like me but in chemistry except as my bi polar has gotten worse my following of chemistry has dwindled to nowt.
*sigh*
I'm thinking of pulling out all my A level maths text books, getting back up to speed with maths then whipping out the a level and degree level chemistry textbooks I have. I'd not want to go back to uni until I felt I was back up to speed again.
I think my first priority needs to be dealing with what I've posted earlier and getting to the end of the year when I should get my driving license back. My days are far too long at the moment without it for me to even consider studying. Hell they're so long that I'm struggling to motivate myself to look for a job nearer home.
:edit: Dok it sounds like you *are* doing great things. It also sounds to me like you're capable enough of getting through university on grants and scholarships. I'm sure you could get support there to help you apply yourself better too.
:edit 2: For fuck sake. Now I've got an idea in my head about setting up a charity to help support people in school who, like you and I, have ability but for some reason or another struggle with school be it finding exams difficult, teachers uninspiring or just can't apply themselves.
Go.away.ideas.

and I'm starting to get too old to go to uni, I'll be 40 next year.
( , Wed 26 Nov 2008, 10:50, Reply)

Einstein never went to university.
:edit:
I think I'd have to with chemistry though as I'd never be able to afford a lot of the equipment required for practical stuffs. Actually I wonder if you can achieve much in chemistry using just theory like you can in physics. I guess most work is done that way with the practical experiments conducted afterwards to prove the theories correct.
My mind is in overdrive at the moment. I'm going to lurk until I feel like I can post without making myself feel silly.
( , Wed 26 Nov 2008, 10:52, Reply)

( , Wed 26 Nov 2008, 11:00, Reply)

Buy yourself a notebook and write all your ideas down so you can come back to them in the future. They'll fall out of your head otherwise.
I did this... got about fifteen different things to come back to :)
( , Wed 26 Nov 2008, 11:00, Reply)

I've started doing that in text files on a usb pen attached to my keyring. It's made me feel a little better so far but my inability to do anything with my ideas at the moment is preventing me getting anything done and after about 5 days of using this where my head felt much quieter for not having all those ideas floating about in it I'm back to being full of noise as though my mind has adjusted it's rate of idea generation of suit the new capacity for storing them.
*sigh*
This CBT better bloody work!

Alternatively I could drink sensibly which is probably what I should do. Going to book the time off work though me thinks.

In other words, it depends on if I get lost or not ;)

I might stretch higher than 6mm, but it was my first stopping point to see if I like them :)
I have GPS on my phone, so I'm sure I'll find the pub without looking too much like a tourist ;)

A pair of chickens walk up to the desk at a library and say, 'Buk Buk BUK.' The librarian decides that the chickens desire three books, and gives it to them...and the chickens leave shortly thereafter.
Around midday, the two chickens return to the circulation desk quite vexed and say,' Buk Buk BuKKOOK!' The librarian decides that the chickens desire another three books and gives it to them. The chickens leave as before.
The two chickens return to the library in the early afternoon, approach the librarian, looking very annoyed and say, 'Buk Buk Buk Buk Bukkooook!' The librarian is now a little suspicious of these chickens. She gives them what they request, and decides to follow them.
She followed them out of the library, out of the town, and to a park. At this point, she hid behind a tree, not wanting to be seen. She saw the two chickens throwing the books at a frog in a pond, to which the frog was saying, "Rrredit Rrredit Rrredit..."

Did you get all the paint off your person, or are you still all mutli-coloured?
How's the pink pillar looking?

I'm not bad at all really.

The pink pillar is very impressive. I enjoyed putting the sticky pink paint on it with my brush.

Glad you're all spruce.
I'm a bit rough from scrumpy adventures last night but in a generally good mood:D

Well, apart from a slight back ache, and an overwhleming desire to sack off work and go home to hot chocolate and computer games :D

40 minutes and counting...
apart from those present aka 'The beautiful people'...there doesn't seem to be that many folk around today...
Has there been a four minute warning or something and I'm just too damned ignorant to notice...?
Edit: TGB...'Green' Interior...? Oh dearie, dearie me. Ah well, as long as it's not green on the outside...

Lurking whilst tending to my spreadsheets.
In other news, since I got my nose broken by a rude little man, I have bouts of extreme itchiness in my nasal passages. Today is one of those days and I've nearly torn my face off trying to scratch.
(I've also unearthed a lot of bogies)

Due to this country's vehicle rental laws, I might be able to come to the bash this weekend after all.
Unfortunately, this means my friend won't be able to move this weekend which is a shit for him.
( , Wed 26 Nov 2008, 15:16, Reply)

it's illegal to prevent a b3tan from attending a b3ta bash by hiring a motor vehicle.

God this is sad, I'm so used to being horribly busy all the time that I'm actually a bit bored now that I have some time off.

I've been super busy all year, but had a week off at the beginning of the month to relax and do nothing.
You know what? After looking forward to my mini holiday, a time where I'd only planned to play games, watch dvds, and stay in my dressing gown, the week finally arrived.
And I thoroughly enjoyed it! It was bliss!
So, yeah, I don't know how you're bored now you're off...
(please don't break my legs, or any other part of me, on Friday!)

I took a lazy week the other month and it was heaven. I slobbed about the house in my pants (much to the annoyance of my female housemate), pissed about on the internet, watched films, played Wii and drank red wine.
Awesomeness!

I just have a general feeling of cant be arsedness today. I could be out doing wild and crazy things, running, jumping climbing trees etc... but cant be bothered.
Must find stuff to do.

He'd gone off my radar a bit since I saw Circle and parts of Dress to Kill. But Monday he was back on form, running around the stage at his Izzardly greatest again. I'm shit at remembering lines from stuff, so can't quote to make you think "ooh jealouses", but yeah, go see him if you get a chance.
( , Wed 26 Nov 2008, 15:56, Reply)

Dress to Kill was ace, but Circle was a bit of a let down. I do really want to see him live though.
I'll need to get the new Bill Bailey DVD cos I saw him in Sheffield last year on that tour and it was awesome. I think he's moved above Eddie now in my opinion.
( , Wed 26 Nov 2008, 15:58, Reply)

First off, thanks!
I wouldn't worry about finding things to do, unless you are incredibly bored, as time spent dossing around is valuable relaxation time!
Beekers, weeks like that rock! I'm looking forward to my christmas break, which should be more of the same.
Edit: I got the Frankie Boyle DVD for my birthday, wish i'd been able to get tickets to see him live!
( , Wed 26 Nov 2008, 15:59, Reply)

It was ace! Working Xmas eve so can't get home to Scotland so just chilling out in Leeds, but my dear friend Bug had invited me to hers Xmads day for a full turkey dinner and an evening of drunkenness and Guitar Hero! yays!
*edit*
Frankie Boyle is all win:D

I saw Bill Bailey in Cardiff and he was immense. But I'm so super excited to see Ross Noble is touring next year.
I HAVE to go and see him. He's genius.
( , Wed 26 Nov 2008, 16:07, Reply)

I find him a bit hit-and-miss to be honest.
I struggle to watch a DVD all the way through. My attention keeps wandering.
( , Wed 26 Nov 2008, 16:09, Reply)

I love the way he only seems to have 3 written jokes per show and the rest is purely what comes into his head. He is my last resort when nothing else can make me smile, I watch Ross Noble.
( , Wed 26 Nov 2008, 16:12, Reply)

I know it's really clever how he does it, but it leaves me a bit cold. My mate Dan adores him, but I think that's Geordie solidarity:)
( , Wed 26 Nov 2008, 16:16, Reply)

I do love that accent. It just adds to the delivery of some of the lines.
( , Wed 26 Nov 2008, 16:24, Reply)

"How Bono, you look like a twat!"
It does to be honest. When he hits he's hilarious.
( , Wed 26 Nov 2008, 16:27, Reply)

So now I know who you're talking about ;P
He is very funny, but I prefer angry ranty humour to beautifully surreal humour.
Which is why Bill Hicks rocks my world!
