Decisions
This morning, while brushing my teeth, I decided what song I want played at my funeral. (A better son/daugter by Rilo Kiley : Lyrics)

Pick a question
What music do you want played at your funeral?
What decisions have you made recently?
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:07, 98 replies, latest was 16 years ago)
I want the theme tune from top gun at my funeral

daa naa naa na na na na na naaaaa, na na naaa na na naaa, na na naaa naaaa

*air guitars*
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:09, Reply)
nice!
that's an inspired choice
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:11, Reply)
It's almost worth getting cramated for just so I can have something like Danger Zone or Highway To Hell.
But Danger Zone mostly.
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:11, Reply)
I would like
Highway to Hell by AC/DC played at mine, as for decisions, I could really say, maybe the fact that I want to learn to ride a motorbike, and get the fuck out of London!
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:11, Reply)
Dammit!
Beaten to it!
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 18:39, Reply)
I'm having an hawaiian themed funeral
So maybe Electric Avenue by Eddie Grant
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:11, Reply)
Nice
So long as there isn't any hawaiian pizza.
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:12, Reply)
Will there be cheese and pineapple on a stick?
Oye dee-mahnd cheese and phineappol on ah stick ,roit noi.
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:15, Reply)
There will
be lots of cocktails and cheese & pineapple on sticks and probably prawn cocktail
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:19, Reply)
If you don't want me there MTFU and say so
:(
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:21, Reply)
Do you not like prawn cocktail either?
I guess I'm just betting you're going to die before me *shrugs*
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:26, Reply)
I've never eaten one
Mostly because I don't enjoy anaphylaxis!
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:31, Reply)
Well
I'll get some catfood in for you
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:33, Reply)
Would that be
Seafood flavoured?
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:41, Reply)
I've googled it
and you can get game flavoured
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:48, Reply)
Oh man ! Prawn Cocktail is my favorite !
I can't wait for you to die now.
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:21, Reply)
I make the decision constantly
not to change my routine at all.

As for funereal music, I think I'd plump for something inappropriate, like Waterloo by Abba.
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:15, Reply)
I would quite like Good Riddance by Greenday, but it's soo cliched now.
Maybe Starrfadu: Let It Out.
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:19, Reply)
Collapse the light into earth by Porcupine Tree
it'd make me cry at a funeral, so I'd hope it'd do the same to everyone else there.

or Forever Autumn by Justin Hayward

or Damage Inc. by Metallica

Edit: I'd quite like to make people listen to something really long and really good when they have no choice but to sit and listen. So possibly:
Arriving somewhere but not here - Porcupine Tree
Rime of the Ancient Mariner - Iron Maiden
Echoes - Pink Floyd
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:19, Reply)
Also a big Porcupine Tree fan
Die of a drug overdose and have Voyage 34 played.
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 10:03, Reply)
Loving the choises
Echoes would be amazing, especially if it was going when they brought you out as such
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 11:39, Reply)
I've not thought about me
but my wife is getting Sweet Child of Mine. The song that we used to listen to a lot when we first met was Poison by Alice Cooper but that might be misinterpreted.
Mind you, the same goes for Sweet Child of Mine.

If someone ends up playing Angels by Robbie Williams, I will come back and haunt the bastard that chose it.
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:21, Reply)
(Regarding Angels)
THISSSSSSSSSS
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:24, Reply)
Hmm
SaveDrink.

Oh christ I don't know what happened there but the use of the arrows just mightily fucked up my genuine post.

What I did say though - my choice is Joe Strummer - Silver and Gold, which (while being a cover) contains some excellent lyrics:

Oh I do a lotta things I know is wrong
Hope I'm forgiven before I'm gone
It'll take a lotta prayers to save my soul
And I got to hurry up before I grow too old

Also Gonz, my mate had "Good Riddance" at his funeral which reduced the church to a blubbering mess.
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:27, Reply)
I've never really thought about this.
My thinking-part-of-brain isn't working well today either.
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:29, Reply)
You HAVE one of those?
You learn something new everyday I guess.
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:31, Reply)
Yeah.
*sighs*
I got home at midnight.
Went to bed.
Got to sleep at five-ish. Got up at seven.
*yawns*
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:33, Reply)
I'd planned an early night
I went to be about 2:00. I'm a retard but at least I managed to sleep I guess.
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:40, Reply)
Damn you :(
AND I had a police car follow me most of the way home.
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:50, Reply)
That's no fun
I had one with his blues and twos on shoot past me on the A10.
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:52, Reply)
Fuckin' po-lice.

(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:56, Reply)
Hmmm...
I think I'd have "Ghosts", by my band.
Something great about me still singing even if I'm in a coffin.
Especially screaming "why do these ghosts keep following me?".
That'll do.
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:32, Reply)
was listening to that yesterday
still good
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:34, Reply)
Haha, cheers!
Just finished a new song about you, as a matter of fact.
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:35, Reply)
Is it called
Boring Posts by a Bearded Man?
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:37, Reply)
Hahaha!
As a matter of fact it is.
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:37, Reply)
I didn't realise you said it was about me
until TGB's post.

Should I be honoured, or worried?
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:40, Reply)
Well, it's about you
In the Al-sense.
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:42, Reply)
that's what I assumed
otherwise you would be weirder than I thought
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:45, Reply)
And if you got it was about you
from my post it must be a fairly accurate description :p
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:43, Reply)
I just know how your foul little mind works
:-P
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:44, Reply)
fuck you
you gypsy slagwagon
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:39, Reply)
haha
I like that
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:41, Reply)
Haha!
That's delightful!
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:42, Reply)
^ this

(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:37, Reply)
You wrote a song about him too?

(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:37, Reply)
I listened to Ghosts...
And like it...

(damn, didn't see your reply)
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:45, Reply)
*grins*
Thank you!
I think there should be more songs written about Vipros though.
Handy hint: "mighty beard" rhymes nicely with "fucking weird".
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:48, Reply)
Better
I'd rather use mighty weird and fucking beard.
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:49, Reply)
this has my approval

(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:50, Reply)
*grabs pen*
*Starts to write The Ballad Of Vipros*

Haha!
"shit" and "git". Excellent!
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:54, Reply)
And how lucky
that boring ryhmes with snoring
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:57, Reply)
I can't write songs...
He's damn boring
and mighty weird
but when you're snoring, he'll kill you all
[dramatic pause]
WITH HIS FUCKING BEARD!
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 10:00, Reply)
I'm stealing this.
*whips out harmonica*
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 10:03, Reply)
I did imagine you singing it when I wrote it
The pause would have to be completely silent (rather than just a pause in the vocals) with "with his fucking beard" screamed and a nice thrashy section staring after the line.

:edit: Thrash harmonica, you know you want it!
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 10:05, Reply)
I'm loving the concept of Thrash Harmonica.
Get a distort pedal in between the mic and PA.
Crank it hard.
Bust out some sweet harmonica-goodness.
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 10:11, Reply)
sounds good to me
I'm liking the sound of this song
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 10:13, Reply)
I would suggest that it is of no consequence
as I don't snore and am not boring.
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 10:00, Reply)
That fucking beard!
*shakes fist*
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:54, Reply)
I don't care what is played at my funeral as long as it depresses the shit out of everyone.
And my most recent decision is never again to wear rose tinted glasses when in a relationship.
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:29, Reply)
I also considered
I Wanna Sex You Up for sheer bizarre wrongness
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:29, Reply)
how about Closer
either the NIN version, or Richard Cheese's
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:33, Reply)
Ooh I think
Richard Cheese;s version would be better, bit more upbeat :p
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:34, Reply)
Haha
I also thought of inappropriate songs and for some reason came up with the Vengaboys "We're going to Ibiza"...
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:34, Reply)

it'll just show your sheer bizarre wrongness humour

just like i would ;)
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:38, Reply)
If you're being buried,
Status Quo, "Down down" is always an option.
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:36, Reply)

Deeper Underground?
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:38, Reply)
Ok then Cremated
Fire by The Crazy World of Arthur Brown
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:39, Reply)
My wife refuses to listen to any music thats been played at any funeral shes been too cos it makes her cry
awwwwwwwww

Which is why I'm going to have something stupid and unrelated to the fact im dead. maybe I wish it could be Christmas everyday or something.
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:40, Reply)
Srs: NIN - The Day The World Went Away
Lolz: Tool - Ticks & Leeches
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:42, Reply)
I'd cry at the NiN song
then dance on your grave
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:49, Reply)
We've had this discussion before
You're going to die before me.
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:58, Reply)
She doesn't have anything near
The voracious crack-habit you have though.
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 10:02, Reply)
she has a voracious crack though

(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 10:03, Reply)
OH NO YOU DIDN'T!

(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 10:04, Reply)
*bobs head and wags finger*
Mmm-hmm!
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 10:08, Reply)
I told her, quite specifically
That I will kill her.

Get Down
by Paul Johnson

It accurately describes the direction in which I will be heading.

EDIT: Also, it's as annoying as fuck. There's even an extended mix of this shit.
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:48, Reply)
Didn't we do this quite recently?
I'm having the Layla piano exit by Eric Clapton.

Decision I've made recently is to clean out my cat's shittray as it smells
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:49, Reply)
Probably
It was initially just going to be about decisions then I tagged the funeral music question in too which people seem to have picked up on.

STICK ATTACK!

:edit: Typing two instead of too. How kaoltarded.
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:50, Reply)
Dunno
but as it's the internet I have a memory span of 5 minutes
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:51, Reply)
Codemonkey by Jonathan Coulton (sp?)
or, more seriously, Who Wants To Live Forever by Queen
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:54, Reply)
Not tempted with the
Top Gun theme tune?
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:55, Reply)
I would walk 500 miles (to the north pole)

(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:56, Reply)
This comes as a surprise
I was expecting you to choose the Batman theme so that you could reveal your true identity.
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 9:56, Reply)
If my wife/girlfriend/daughter/mum
Lets me organise their funeral, they're getting "Dig up her bones" by the Misfits.
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 10:05, Reply)
Re: Your Brains by Jonathan Coulton
Or Call of the Zombie by Rob Zombie. I'd also like the coffin wrapped in heavy chains and some sort of battery-powered thumping device placed in the casket.
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 10:13, Reply)
Taking inspiration from Red Dwarf
I'd quite like to go out to 'See ya later, alligator'.
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 10:19, Reply)
I'd have the song you just appropriated for your funeral, you song-appropriater.
Or Stan Ridgeway's Camouflage.
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 10:33, Reply)
Alive
by Pearl Jam

Woooooo I'm still alive!
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 11:08, Reply)
I love Better Son/Daughter. It is amazing. "And sometimes when you're oooooooon..."
I love Jenny Lewis and everything she does (even that dodgy episode of Murder, She Wrote.)Wow, so far on OT I've found people who like The Dresden Dolls, Whale and Now Rilo Kiley!

Aaaaanyway. I was catering at a wedding on Saturday and they played THERE IS A LIGHT THAT NEVER GOES OUT! I was so happy.
THAT is my song. That is my motto, that is often the story of my life, that is my funeral song.
I'm also having Take me to the Mardi Gras by Paul Simon. Possibly.
And It's not Easy Being Green by Kermit The Frog. *sniff*

I'm then having a disco where they lock the doors and hand out lyrics sheets and everybody has to endure the music I love. It's going in my will.
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 11:21, Reply)
I'd Have
November Rain by Guns n Roses, but only if I could get someone up on the coffin wailing the solo out
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 11:47, Reply)
I'll do it
sounds like fun
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 11:55, Reply)
Hired!
Then you have to walk out to the nearby cliff edge intime for the second one of course
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 12:16, Reply)
I've always wanted to play a cliff/mountain top solo
and will definitely be including it in future videos with my band.
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 13:14, Reply)
I've thought about this very seriously before
And have chosen Everybody's talkin' by Nillson, Do you realize by The Flaming Lips but I'm undecided on a third, something kind of banging though - not sure if I want to go Disco or Metal for it.
(, Wed 1 Jul 2009, 11:56, Reply)
You love Rilo Kiley.
You are awesome.
