breakfast smoothies are great
if you mix fruit with milk and chuck a handful of oats in there it's really nice and it's like having a real breakfast that you can down in one.

It tastes like that stuff you swish around your mouth at the dentist to wash bits of filling out.
It always bemused me why you'd use that particular flavour.
(, Wed 9 Jun 2010, 13:11, Reply)
Gross
Why would you want to have that with ice cream?

it's quite clear that you both fail at life

(, Wed 9 Jun 2010, 13:26, Reply)
From recent experience
Apples, pears and bananas are all great bases, don't affect the flavour too much and are good sweeteners
Melon, mango, pineapple, kiwi, strawberries, raspberries, blueberries etc are all brilliant in whatever combinations and proportions
Plain yoghurt binds smoothies quite well but generally contain fat and can make them sour. Good ripe fruit doesn't need any sugar or honey. If you've made a batch and it's too sour, add honey a spoon at a time, blending in between, and check for taste
Oats and museli are great in smoothies
Finally, don't peel anything you'd usually eat the skin of. Much of a fruit's goodness is in the skin and smoothies don't really have to be smooth

And, buy one of those apple corers, they're a fucking lifesaver. And make sure your knives are sharp.
(, Wed 9 Jun 2010, 13:26, Reply)
following from this
I use frozen apple, mandarin, melon and grapes with orange, apple or pomegranate juice.

quick and delicious with the added bonus that you don't have to remember to buy yoghurt
(, Wed 9 Jun 2010, 13:30, Reply)
Frozen berry and fruit packs from supermarkets are genius.

(, Wed 9 Jun 2010, 13:32, Reply)

I use the sainsburys basic fruit cocktail one because it is merely £1 and I can get almost a week's worth of smoothies out of it
