I'm wondering if many of you do things out in public by yourselves?
I only go shopping by myself, but I wouldn't eat alone in a restaurant by myself or go to the movies alone.
Would you?
I'm really wanting to go to the Robyn concert but I don't know of anyone that would go so I'm playing with the idea of going alone. Would you or have you been to a concert alone?
I also have a week off work coming up and am thinking of going somewhere by myself.
Have you ever?

when I was 19.
I've intended to go to the cinema alone, but never really care enough to go.

also, you choose whether you feel awkward or not.

and went to see Steve Earle alone after breaking up with a Galway Girl but it's not something I'd make a habit of.
Favourite plant is my tomato plant as it's starting to bear fruit.

I do most things by myself, eating out, or cinema, off to Oz on my tod in November for a couple of weeks

None of my friends like the music I do, and to be honest I'm quite happy to stand with a pint in my own little world.

I've also been on holiday all by myself. It was good, but not speaking Croatian, a whole week without a proper conversation got a little odd.
I also travelled alone all the way to some godforsaken town outside Brussels to see Hooverphonic in concert. (Definitely worth it though.)

He fucked off to Canada for two weeks on his tod. When he came back I asked him if he'd made any friends or had weird chats with any randoms. He just said, 'Nope.' I would go a little crazy without some form of human contact.

I'm quite happy in my own company, but not for extended periods.
(, Wed 21 Jul 2010, 18:54, Reply)
I don't think I craved human contact, although I did remember all the instances where I had short interactions with people who spoke English, or who were flattered by my ability to use a phrasebook.

but being a girl I don't think it's a good idea.
I considered Florence, but I couldn't be arsed with being treated like a puttana at the hotel bar.

It feels odd at first but once the band's on, it's fine.
I like my own company, but like rosalicious says, it's other people who can make it a bind, making assumptions that you're on the batter or something.
(, Wed 21 Jul 2010, 18:44, Reply)
Me and my mate had tickets for different sections, so I might as well have been on my own. It was fine.
(, Wed 21 Jul 2010, 18:45, Reply)
so at least you have that in common. I always find complete strangers try to talk to me at gigs, I guess I just have one of those faces
(, Wed 21 Jul 2010, 18:54, Reply)
but at those things it's impossible to stay alone for long, I had some weirdo talking to me all night telling me how amazing the music was, and some 16 year old girl was trying to chat me up and feel my balls. Oh and some german guy trying to rape me from behind.
I don't like plants, they're shit and they always die really quickly. They're the most rubbish pets since somebody invented cats

Love going to London on my own, but I do tend to meet up with people for drinks/dinner in the evening.
I like going to the cinema alone too - that way I can go and see crap chick flicks without putting anyone else through it. Although these days I do tend to wait until I can torrent it and then watch with chocolate and a coffee and cry all the way through.
Whenever I've stayed in a hotel room on my own I like to put a chair against the door.
I like my own company.
EDIT - Fav plant - Venus Fly Trap - anything with fucking teeth.

when away on work. I'd do the cinema on my own too.
Restaurants or pubs or whatever are fine if you have a book or a paper.

when travelling and that. Concerts... not really. But I'm joining a football supporters club by myself after forking out £520 on a season ticket.. Hoping they aren't all complete cunts.
(, Wed 21 Jul 2010, 19:51, Reply)
got seats right behind the dugout for extra lolz
I hope you aren't insinuating that I support a different team every season. Because if you are I will be very cross.

But I've never shot from a bow.
So, that might be quite silly.

£10 a season, can buy tickets online after season ticket holders but before the general public. Works out better for me as I'll inevitably miss 3 or 4 games a season.

My family always stuffed our faces whilst my mother's cooking was still hot and talked afterwards - not an appropriate technique in a 'date' (ugh) , in situation. Or weddings when the family is sat together - rather embarrassing, in truth.
Favourite plant: Robert.

And there's total silence with the occasional "Mmm, ommmm, nommmmm".
Christmas Day is nice, it's just me and the parents and we, like, TALK and that.

My mate was 'on the list', I had bought a ticket. Except he wasn't 'on the list' and couldn't get in. It was fucking brilliant, I had a fag-packet full of reefers and was 'Mr Popular' as a result. Funny that.

and I'll happily eat a pub lunch or evening meal alone if I'm feeling like treating myself.
We used to have a very good local curry place that I'd often eat in on a Sunday evening. On my own. Reading a book between courses. Don't see why it would be an issue...
