Things you wish you'd have the guts to say...
Mr Man in the suit with the rucksack sitting at table 23 having half strength coffee, you're ten years older than me and I was sure that was a wedding ring I saw, its ok because I have a bf. But I just find you incredibly attractive, warm and you have a gorgeous smile. See you before you check out tomorrow. From, Waitress.

Anything you regret never saying?
Or too scared of saying?
Or just can't?
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 19:51, 158 replies, latest was 16 years ago)
Half strength coffee?
He's gay.

For me it's not so much lack of words as lack of action. There's a few girls I had the opportunity to be with and didn't, which is pretty much my only regret.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 19:59, Reply)
thinking about it, he bloody might be! :o
There's so many opportunities where the timings never right or you make the wrong decision without realising.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 20:01, Reply)
I'd say something like
'better to regret doing something, than not doing it at all.'

But that would make me a massive hypocrite
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 20:03, Reply)
its the classic
two guys, one that you chased that wasn't interested and suddenly he is. Right at the same time you're seeing some guy thats liked you for ages. Then what do you do?! (im totally not in that situation!)
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 20:05, Reply)
It really is, and I've done some fucking stupid things.

Carpe Diem
and all that jazz.
Can't be all that bad?
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 20:08, Reply)
I agree
and I do try and go for things. But in terms of approaching people I have very little courage
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 20:09, Reply)
Today at work
A average looking guy had a nice chat with me, offered me his number, shook my hand and gave me a kiss on the cheek. It literally took my breath away, never met anyone with such confidence.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 20:12, Reply)
that's quite breathtaking confidence
I could do with a little bit of it
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 20:13, Reply)
Some bastards are born confident.

he just didnt seem the usual type...
just the average Joe.
Clearly it works though.
Think everyone needs some of it :D
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 20:18, Reply)
it's highly individual
I know a really good looking guy, who would never dare ask anyone out. He just has no trust that people would find him attractive
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 20:20, Reply)
I dont get it D'=

(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 20:25, Reply)
Confidence is not related to physical appearance.
Some people have it, some people don't.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 20:27, Reply)
too true
but in this case it's difficult to believe he's ever had trouble getting a date. He's on the gorgeous end of things
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 20:29, Reply)
Yea I guess so,
But I've found the more attractive guys will approach girls, the others use like their humour and personality more.

A tenner?
You should've complained harder!

when I worked for sainsbury's home delivery I could give up to £50. The best one was when a student rang up to complain her melon wasn't very fresh, so I refunded the cost to her credit card cos she wouldn't shut up.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 20:09, Reply)
Oh =(

(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 20:14, Reply)
You're always better ringing up,
because there's more incentive for the callcentre monkey to get rid of you. Sadly, arseholes get more money. If you're a bit angry you're more likely to get more money than if you ring up, state the facts and see what they're going to do.

I can't complain to save my life, I hate confrontation and am happy with a replacement product.

House done
In that there are no floors you could fall through any more. We're living in it now anyway.

New filly - well, it all seems to be working. It's nearly a year now. This is the third longest relationship I've ever managed.

A whole year?
You are doing better than I ever did *laughs*

I have decided to give the relationship thing the elbow and concentrate on my lovely friends instead.

Nearly
Met Jan on my birthday (9th November) last year.

Don't forget that I was married once. And even though you realise after six months that it's a farce and a charade you stick with it for proprieties sake for as long as you believe it's respectable to do so.

I don't like being squeezed against this pillar. I'll start again futher down.

I don't know why I'm holding eight fingers up, I don't know why I'm wearing someone else's shirt but I'm clearly happy.

The other photo was from when I was in a photographic society and there was a portrait practical evening. One of the other chaps there took that of me and thought it was shit. He was quite surprised when I asked for a copy, I think it's the best photo of me there is.

Also,
Once, my mum said there was a really big gap between my mate and his little brother and asked me why. Ages later I realised there's about the same gap between me and my brother, but I lack the courage to ask my mum why.

My parents divorced after I was born, I don't want to find out that I was a failed attempt at saving the marriage.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 20:29, Reply)
better not to ask
there was ten years between my parent's marriage, and them having me. Despite the fact they had loads more after me, it was still quite horrible hearing that I was an accident, and that my mother had never wanted children.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 20:31, Reply)
I wouldn't ask
But surely as long as your parents treated you the same and loved you the conception bit doesn't need to be thought about. My mum and dad were both accidents. My grandad planned them. My grandma didn't. oops

*EDIT* my mum and AUNT FML!
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 20:35, Reply)
the way you phrased that
makes your mum and dad sound like they have the same mum and dad

I discovered there's an area near wigan (can't remember which)
which is supposed to have the worst incest rate in the country. I said "what, worse than norwich?" Turns out not everyone is aware of the norwich-incest joke and I had to explain myself in the middle of a meeting.

Turns out wigan folk are actually living in the 1950s and have only left wigan to go on an all inclusive holiday to spain.

A friend's 10 year old niece
one day realised what the age difference between her and her infant sibling might mean. The poor thing got it the wrong way round though. Her parents found her sobbing "Imastake! Imastake!", it took a while for them to work out she wasn't calling herself a steak.

People are mental.
I had an ex declare her undying love for me and told me she wanted us to get married. It was a bit out of the blue, so I thought about it overnight and called her back to say yes, I still loved her and we should get back together. At the end of the conversation she told me to join match.com. Complete headfuck.

just wants to be friends with benefits, which I don't want, he came to my house when we were partying one night and I was good and sauced up so I told him I didn't want to see him or talk to him anymore

same as the film dog soldiers?
I take it it's good if you're ree-reading it?
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 21:35, Reply)
Not at all
I watched the film assuming it was based on the book but it's not.

I don't like recommending literature because we all have different tastes but if you like a thought provoking read Robert Stone is yer man.

The film "Leaving Las Vegas" was very loosely based around Stones' "Hall of Mirrors" although that was set in New Orleans. One of my ten best ever books.

Well that's good then
Hello to you Mr/Mrs/Ms/Other Cowjam.

Evenings on OT used to be quite a vibrant little community, populated by those like me that didn't get the opportunity to post during the day.

Admittedly I very rarely drop by, but the evening thing seems to be completely dead now.

I think there are a lot of the regulars out performing carnal acts on bits of dead animal this evening.
Or, as it's commonly known, eating out at a restaurant.

Ah, the good old O/T Druid community are alive and well.
Do you want a dalek?

It's a long and unpleasant story but I'm putting a lot of toys and models on e-bay at the moment for my sister's friend.

There's a dalek in there - about 5" high, and probably once had a friction motor.

If you think it's interesting let me know. I've a lot of shit to sift through before I get to look at it properly.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 21:53, Reply)
Sounds like possibly a Louis Marx model to me.
Colour?
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 21:56, Reply)
Dug it out
Should have had (I guess) a red dome but it's badly faded.

Quite a good plastic mould.

All the bits that stick out are articulated and still articulate.

Signs of a glue repair on the left hand sticky out thing.

Definately friction motored.

Underside marked "made in Hong Kong" with an inverted 2 where it's arse should be.

Yours if you want it. It'll cost a bit to post safely but gaz me and we'll work it out.
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 22:06, Reply)
Possibly a Palitoy model then.
God I'm sad...
(, Thu 2 Sep 2010, 22:09, Reply)
Could be Palitoy
Don't know - I'm sad too because most of the stuff I've been given to sell is die-cast Dinky, Corgi and Matchbox which I DO know the value of.

I've sold most of it - just stuff like the dalek left that I don't know how to price, so I'd rather it went to an appreciative home than an accumulator of crap.

Things I regret not saying?
"I'm already married and not really a doctor" might have saved me a lot of trouble in hindsight.

"I do beg pardon Mr. Big Eric but there seems to be some misunderstanding, you see I'm not actually a homosexual"

Someone walked out on me in a bar the other night.
I wish I'd just apologised rather than frowning and saying 'I haven't done something to upset you have I?' in my stupid posh voice.

It's often the things I don't hold back on that cause the most trouble.
Most notably "If you're going to sleep with your boss behind my back, fuck off and live with him instead." That remark cost me one allegation of assault, one job, one house, all of my money and most of my sanity.
