What shall I remix th'day? I'm unemployed, taking a day off giving a fuck and need
something to do before I start drinking. And anyone who says 4'33' gets a slap.

Dunno but I need suggestions too.
42" 720p Plasmas, £450: Panasonic or LG?
My old telly died today. And as usual the internet is a clusterfuck of adlinks instead of any useful info.

Panasonic
and try to get a 1080p at that size if you can afford a little extra, it makes a big difference

Maybe, but this is already stretching the budget till it squeaks. Won't settle for an LCD though - not enough contrast.
Personally I doubt I'll see much difference from across the room, and I won't be buying Blu-Ray or a PS3 for quite a while. The Wii only manages component anyway, not HD.

if you're getting a 42" go for 1080p 100htz refresh rate
my lg 32" works great at 720p..and upscales to 1080 for ps3
(and I wouldn't get plasma..lcd's are better from what I've heard)

I had a telly
it was in colour and it made sounds
and it was such an ugly piece of furniture that when it started smelling of burnt cable one evening
I threw it out, never got a new and never looked back.

i got a 32" samsung a couple of months back
and it's fantastic. at that size it doesn't desperately matter if you're running at 720 or 1080 but this supports 1920x1080 from a computer both in the hdmi/dvi input and in the vga input. the contrast is good and the colours are crisp. i'm very happy with it.

Our telly is 15 years old and going strong.
I don't see the point of getting a flat screen, as it won't last 5 minutes before breaking, no doubt.
Mrs Vagabond's sister's got a 48' widescreen HD USB Wingwang Overdrive Mentalist, and they've had to replace it 3 times in the past 7 months.
I don't think I know anyone with a flatscreen without a similar story.
It's just more landfill sold in the name of football.

It's probably the last thing I'll sell. :(

I'm hoping I can ease myself into the world of fancy flat screens before my currently 13yo trusty 32 inch widescreen gives out. I don't want to have to rush into anything.
Mind you there's nothing I watch that would be enhanced by HD.

Try visit a few online stores (amazon and the like)
See what people say about them who own them, that's what I go on if I don't know someone who owns a product.
As Ad7 said, best to go for 1080p at that screen size; if you can't afford it, get a smaller screen (38" maybe?) with 1080p. It really does make a difference.
Does it have to be plasma? They are very power-hungry. This might be worth a read asia.cnet.com/buyingguides/home_av/0,39066264,61985379-3,00.htm

They're the ones I was looking at with the newer LG 42PJ650. They're 20 miles away in Reading.
But Comet have just advertised the Panasonic P42X20B for £450.
A review of that suggest it's spoiled by reflections, but this might just be someone who's come from an LCD rather than a CRT.

Comet's probably not the cheapest place, plus you have to deal with the sales twats
Incidentally, I was in John Lewis in Kingston the other day, listening to one of their sales guys basically put a customer off buying an iMac. I walked away chuckling to myself.

they're lovely. absurdly expensive, but lovely.

I was going to say "pity" but actually I don't really need a 30" monitor, I think a couple of 27" inchers is more than enough to me.

Also I just souped up the current soon-to-be-replaced-if-we-believe-the-rumours Mac Pro to the hilt but without all the pointless software packages. About £12,000. Not $12,000 but £12,000. That's quite a bit of money.

What is it with all this remix mallarkey?
Does nobody make new music anymore? It comes to something when the DJ gets more attention than the artist he's just shoved through an octivider for a Pinky & Perky effect. I was doing that on a Revox 77 in the 70s!
