we are big fans of the breakfast pasty, not to be confused with the actual pasty... however the main difference is the time of day it's eaten... (ok you might have a point about our breakfast being the same...)

I bloody love bubble and squeak, but i've never had it for breakfast. I do, on the other hand, have black pudding whenever as possible. Maybe it's my paternal grandfather's Manchester blood filtering down through the generations.

And black pudding was a tough one, its kind of England wide and nearly in the standards. But as bury black pudding is a thing... it went there.

Oatcakes (the pancake sort, not the biscuit sort in packs) are very popular here and in Staffordshire. As is "pudding" which is basically white pudding made with suet, entrails and oats. Can't tell you wot it tastes like, as I'm veggie.
Note that in Aberdeenshire white pudding contains onions and is generally meat-free. They are also big fans of rowies (aka butteries) which are flat, salty, croissant type things you put in the toaster. They can set the toaster on fire if done too long, due to all the butter or hydrogenated veg oil in them. They are absolutely stunning.

...are simply awesome in every way. My folks were brought up around Stoke on Trent and I can remember going up to Stoke on a morning to pick 'em up fresh.
Rather wonderfully, our local Sainsburys has 'em in from time to time and they freeze lovely. I think bacon oatcakes for all on Saturday :-)

Family visits to my grandparents are fondly remembered for oatcakes bought from a terrace house window. Best with bacon, tinned tomatoes and melted cheese all rolled into a tube of sloppy, cheesy, bacony goodness. Really want one now.
