for shadows, what I do is
1) cut out a rough shape around the person
2) make a new layer and fill the shape black
3) make sure the "show bounding box" thingy is checked
4) hold down Ctrl when clicking the corners/sides of the bounding box and make it the correct shape by dragging them
5) reduce the opacity or change the colour of the selection - just to make the colours look right

# 6) project!
(, Mon 5 Mar 2007, 15:08, archived)
# here's what you do
duplicate the layer
turn brightness to zero so it's black
blur it a bit
tree tranform it so it's shorter and skewed to the side
move it so the feet are in the same place on both layers
turn the opacity down a bit

sorted
(, Mon 5 Mar 2007, 14:48, archived)
# this is what i'd do^
use the free transform to match its shape to the shadows already in the pic
(, Mon 5 Mar 2007, 14:50, archived)
# that's what I was saying up there
but if you hold down Ctrl, you don't need to freetransform because you can just drag/reshape the bounding box how you want to

(, Mon 5 Mar 2007, 14:50, archived)
# drop shadow just puts a shadow as on a flat surface
What you want to do is duplicate their layer, make it plain black, blurred, play with the perspective and opacity a bit, et cetera, and it'll look more like actual shadows.
