Blueyonder won't let me browse dirs.
can you link to images ok?

# blueyonder doesn't let you browse dirs
unless you put this in a .htaccess file:

IndexIgnore .htaccess
Options All
Order Deny,Allow
Deny from all
Allow from all

Paste this to a text file, call it htaccess.txt, ftp it into your mp3 dir, then rename it to ".htaccess"
You can then see everything in there and link to it. Only put this in the mp3 directory though or people can see everything.

you guys at home then? perhaps you can see these then :)

it's easy to resize images when in photoshop or even here. Learn to use width="" and height=""
(, Sat 5 Oct 2002, 17:20, archived)
# Bad thing to learn -
Learn to resize and optimise imahes BEFORE you upload them - this is a good habit.
(, Sat 5 Oct 2002, 17:22, archived)
# hey
I resize my images before I post optimizing is something different. I consider anything under 80K is ok.
(, Sat 5 Oct 2002, 17:24, archived)
# Then why are your
images usually above 80k? I consider 80k a bit too big - actually way too big. I never post a jpeg above 30k and most of them are around 10.
(, Sat 5 Oct 2002, 17:27, archived)
# My images
are not usually above 80K. considering that you have such a crappy connection of course you can't post big.

what connection I use - there are many dialup users here. Your image is no more important than anyone else's so why should it get more bandwidth?
(, Sat 5 Oct 2002, 17:33, archived)
# well
there's a lot of dial-up users. Listen to what people are saying, and stop being such an arrogant git.
(, Sat 5 Oct 2002, 17:48, archived)
# it's best to resize before saving
browser's aren't very good at resizing, and it doesn't shrink the filesize, whilst resizing before saving does

(, Sat 5 Oct 2002, 17:21, archived)
# yeah
I had some difficulty figuring it out until I started reading those little descriptors like "photoshop" and crap like that. Still, it's a very messy site and the people who leech our images deserved to be lynched.

# doin' a lot of reading on apache
yesterday an' the general sense I got was don't use an .htaccess file for a whole site, just use it on directories you don't want people to access. If it's the whole site you don't want access to then put all the directives inside the relevant Directory part of the config file......summat to do with speed I fink.

Still learning all this apache gubbins, but recent experiments with SSI's and PHP have proved successful :)

# humancheese.com is a place of godliness...
Often, people compare the process of producing flavoured cheese to the process of producing the gourmet pate, fois gras, whereby a baby goose has it's jaws wired open and is force fed until it's bloated body is slashed open, it's massively oversized liver removed and blended into a fine dish. These people are wrong. Recent changes in human rights legislation in Third World countries has ensured that flavoured cheeses will nenver be produced this way again. This is why we now rely on volunteers to feed themselves vast amounts of food with the desired flavour.

# yikes
Celebrity Cheeses are produced just like our regular cheese, the only difference being that the milk was lactated by a well known popular figure. Usually, recently pregnant celebrities such as Kate Winslet or Demi Moore donate some of their breast milk to us, to be processed into a special cheese, which is then auctioned on our site,

# My mum
recently had the honour of being in the same steam room as said Kylie. Kylie sat there butt nekkid for 20 minutes chatting to my mum. My dad wasn't allowed in there until she had finished, although he did make the effort to sit in exactly the same spot that she'd been in, and firmly pressed his buttocks where her's had been.
A note to those having fantasies about a 3's-up in a steam room with my mum and Kylie;
My mum is nearly 60.
