Northern Bash

It's time for us to Bash it up in Manchester, once again. The date is to be the 29th October, the Saturday.

As for where we go, I'm hoping you lot can have some good ideas! Put your names down, and let me know?

We'll either start at The Crown and Anchor, or The Salisbury.

Can I suggest Gaslight on Bridge Street? It's quite small but its a good bar, and it's near Mojo and Purple Pussycat for anyone who wants to go on after.

Good choice.

I'd never heard of the place before, I checked it out, great little boozer. I got chatting to the owner, and mentioned the bash. He's offered to reserve tables in the back room, which was very decent of him.

They also do cask ales, for fat people with beards. i went for the Amstel, which was very nice.

Sorry, I've no geographical knowledge of Manchester, but a few of us will be travelling by train, so if it's a bit far then maybe we could share a cab.

It's right next to Oxford Road station.

It looks like about 5 minutes on foot from Piccadilly and 10-15 minutes on foot from Victoria.

If memory serves, all Transpennine Express trains call at Piccadilly, but only the ones to Liverpool carry on to Oxford Road.

However, if people are going to get to Manchester, and taxi it, I see no harm in starting at The Gaslamp

Manchesetr city centre is quite small.

The Gaslamp is only 10 mins from Picadilly.

I'm going to Gaslamp on Monday

for the pub quiz. Are we definitely on for there? I don't mind what we do really, it is a bit awkward to find.

If we do decide on there I'll speak to them about reserving us a table. It's a really tiny place.

Right it's all sorted

Gaslamp have reserved us 2 large tables in the back room from 7pm onwards. I've told them there will be around 15 people- from previous experience I think that'll be the actual number. Hope to see lots of new people there! It's great little bar- the guest beer on at the moment is Elbow's Build A Rocket Boys which ( according to Mr t0ria) is very good.

I'll be arriving around 7pm

If you don't know me look out for a short girl with lots of blonde hair who, apparently, looks like a fat Jo Whiley D:

I have a couple of spare beds and some sofas if anyone needs to crash. The only rules are that a) I might want to go home early-ish, I am after all an old lady; b) You can stay as long as you're not a twat; and c) you might have to hold my hair back while I'm throwing up.


EDIT: right, both spare bedrooms taken, sofas and air bed remain.

Right. There are quite a few newbies signed up to this bash

Just wanted to say, please come along. I backed out of three bashes before I got the nerve to turn up to one. I'm so glad I did though, I've met some lovely people. Don't worry about arriving on your own. Gaz me, Kip or agnostic if you need details of where to go, or you can get one of our numbers.

There will be a sign up in the back room of Gaslamp, so you'll find us easily enough.
