This is a question Bugs and feature requests

Found a problem on B3ta? Want other features that we don't currently offer? Type your ideas here with your finger-mouths. (We don't promise we'll act on any of it, but we will read it and your words could even prompt us into action.)

A "Terrible Soundtrack" option for /links.
For all those video collections that get posted which some twat has though appropriate to put put hardcore electro-polka or somesuch over. This way we can mute the video in advance.

the /board RSS feed -
at www.b3ta.com/cr3/mrss/

... doesn't feed every thread on the /board.

Is this a bug? If not, what's the selection criteria?

"I LikeThis..."
...is available for one's own posts. I don't remember this being the case before. I'm sure no B3tan would ever dream of voting for his/her own posts, but isn't it best to avoid putting temptation our way?

Hide username
For those of us who browse at work or anywhere where you don't want someone to see your screen and discover your username, there should be an option not to display your username. This will not only hide the "You are logged in as" bit at the top, but also it would remove your name from the bottom of one of your own posts. Taking this further, it could hide the name in the posts themselves using a similar mechanism to the swear-word filter.

"I like this"
Currently if I like something, I can come back and look at the posts I liked. But it seems that only with talk posts, that they are isolated, and cannot be viewed in the context of the thread.
Pictures, links and qotw posts all have the 'a4-page' icon next to them, allowing you to view the post in the context of the entire thread, but talk posts do not display this.

Can you make it so that if somebody gives a link
embedded in the text to something else on b3ta, that it strips off the "http://www.b3ta.com" or "http://b3ta.com" (or other well know alternative names) from the start.
So <a href="http://www.b3ta.com/questions/bugs_and_feature_requests/">linky</a>
becomes <a href="/questions/bugs_and_feature_requests/">linky</a>

This means that if we are accessing b3ta via one of the other sub.domain.names, then it stays on that domain, instead of linking back to www.b3ta.com which gets blocked by our firewalls and proxy server filters.

This might be a bit radical
and be met with the same kind of outcry as when we could suddenly reply to replies on Off Topic...

... But could Off Topic have the most recently-replied-to topic at the top? Like most forums do? Coz sometimes topics that are actually quite good get lost off the bottom of the page because of lots of crap ones and trolls.

Ability to Gaz lots of people at the same time
would be useful, for example everyone signed up to a bash to send them details.

On main board have a 'hide' type button which disables the html in the OP.
To use if we don't want to the picture but still want the thread

I ventured over to /board
for the first time in ages last week, and I was villified, chastised and mocked for being a 'lurker'.

I'm not a lurker, I'm a QOTW-er and an Off Topic-er. Please can we have a counter for the number of posts on Off Topic please? It has been around for more than a year now.

I'm sure I've posted tens of thousands of times.

Image Challenge Suggestion
Can we run the image challenge from wednesday to sunday rather than for the whole week?

Entries after sunday rarely have anything new to offer.

kthxbye.

QOTW pre-post announcement....
In a similar vein as the warning when posting a youtube link with very high view count, can we have something similar for the QOTW pages whereby a similar warning to the following appears in certain circumstances:

"Lots of similar posts containing the word "bumfruit" have aleady been added, are you sure you want to post this?"

or

"Your post contains only one sentence, are you sure you want to post this?"

or

"Your post contains numerous grammatical and spelling errors, are you sure you want to post this?".

With love,

aroe

You can't add any more friends. Sorry.
What? A 99-friend limit? Is this a bug, or am I simply too friendly?

/links Favourites
Would it be possible to have the feature where you can "save" a favourite link somwhere, so that if your not on your own machine you can save it for later.

This would also help out if your machine dies, you loose all your favourites, b3ta is there to help you.

Like a long lost friend with a bottle of wiskey in a time of need!

I accidentally clicked
'I Like This' on a post I didn't like, I want a way of un-clicking it, please.

How about a /board request line?
I have ideas and no skills, and would like to some of the ideas get delightfully twisted by you lot.

Sort of like a mini-challenge, but, er, not.

Any chance of a popular page on /questions/toptips?
Other than that all seems fine.

QOTW: The week before Valentine's day
I think that in the last full QOTW-week before Valentine's day, it would be a good idea to have the "Your Brutally Honest Lonely Hearts Advert" question (without the 40-word limit) as the weekly question. IMO, this question encompasses the spirit of QOTW - sharing our darker side amongst a bunch of like-minded individuals. Before '/all' was disabled, that was the suggestion that was the most popular.

b3ta - we're at our best when we're at our worst.

Time to pull the plug on /talk?
Not exactly a request, more of a question,

Moderation
Can anyone explain how the various boards are moderated?

I've seen spam posts edited by mods and occasionally some personal details removed from malicious posts(phone numbers and emails etc) but it doesn't seem coherent to me.

This is not a criticism, I enjoy b3ta as it is, but it would be nice to know what to do if a user feels that a post is unpleasant enough to be considered for moderation and what if any the remit of acceptability on b3tas various boards is.

b3ta FP...
...doesn't work very well with IE8 RC1, nor did it work well with Beta 1 or 2.

But as Microsoft will claim, IT'S NOT OUR FAULT!

So peaps, unless you like clicking the 'compatibility' button alot, stick to something alittle less sh*te.

I just notices the 'My Files' bit on /board
But would it be possible for it to be able to search through your folders as opposed to the singular 'My Pictures' one? I'm assuming that's how it works, but even if not it's a bit annoying :(

Sorry if mentioned before.

I should be possible to gaz the newsletter
if you think something should be included or replying to something in there as opposed to gazing Rob or emailing.
