Bugger and bastard
My friend challenged the unfit me to do a half marathonwith him in October. Then like a good catholic boy he pulled out.

What dissapoinyed you this weekend?

Alt: is anyone here doing the half marathon in Cardiff this October?
(, Mon 18 Jul 2011, 8:05, 207 replies, latest was 15 years ago)
You should do the one in Bristol
it's what all the cool kids are doing.
(, Mon 18 Jul 2011, 8:23, Reply)
No we're not.

(, Mon 18 Jul 2011, 8:39, Reply)
hell no.

When is that again?
The Norwich half marathon clashes with a Ballroom competition so am looking for another

11th September.
Although everyone in Bristol will have two fewer toes than in Norwich.

My legs feel fine today and I ran over two miles yesterday.
I'm trying not to get too hopeful, but I'm quite hopeful.

Harder to run but I'm crossing everything anyway.

Doesn't hurt this morning.
I will be wearing sleeves for the run later today.

I will be investing in a large tub of vaseline for the actual event.

You should all dress up as Bert to run the marathon.

(, Mon 18 Jul 2011, 9:27, Reply)
I'll be wearing Lycra anyway.

How's the training going?
(, Mon 18 Jul 2011, 9:34, Reply)
Okay
I've been doing a lot more cycling as I've been taking it easy on the running due to injury.

I fail to see how RSI brought on by excessive wanking stops you running

It's funny because you have RSI casued by wanking off other men in public toilets.

I got wasted with my best mates on Friday, watched black books and drank copious amounts of red wine with my brother on Saturday, had a picnic, watched crappy movies with the kids, ate some good food, made a few quid on the side fixing a chaps PC and got laid.

I'm feeling positively croissanty

God, I wonder if his story had any merit after all
(, Mon 18 Jul 2011, 9:25, Reply)
No, it didn't.
I tried to read it but could only manage about a third.
(, Mon 18 Jul 2011, 9:27, Reply)
I tried reading some of that. God it was dull.
I have no idea what that person was trying to convey with that post apart from the fact that his band has the dullest, dreariest time when they go to gigs and have absolutely nothing worth saying about themselves.

"Haha our car broke down, we're so rock'n'roll!"

I'm not sure this was the intention.
(, Mon 18 Jul 2011, 9:51, Reply)
I'm going to start referring to people who are being pedantic as
"Philitas of Cos" who apparently starved to death because he was too busy studying erroneous word usage.
I realise that using a fairly obscure Ancient greek's death is more pretentious than moaning about spelling, and I'm ok with that.
(, Mon 18 Jul 2011, 9:55, Reply)
Better to be referred to as Philitas of Cos than a MW child molester

Like Lusty I'm also disappointed I didn't get more done this weekend
I did have a cracking Saturday night with mates in a real ale pub and then showing off my new place, though.

I did manage a wander around some department stores but the only thing I found that I wanted was a coat stand - but since it wasn't made of solid gold I balked at paying £200 for it. I reckon Ikea might have a slightly cheaper one.
(, Mon 18 Jul 2011, 9:30, Reply)
Why would you run places?
You should be like me and get a car. It's much faster.

My weekend was great. It rained constantly. This didn't bother me so much, but it was the Guildford festival this weekend and a whole load of hippies had a thoroughly miserable time. Yay!
(, Mon 18 Jul 2011, 9:32, Reply)
I rode my bike in the rain on saturday.
I thought of you.
(, Mon 18 Jul 2011, 9:35, Reply)
My car's brilliant. It has a roof.
AND I can drive through puddles and drench people without a roof. Like cyclists. I'm doing them a favour really, as they get all sweaty.

It was good fun
when you get totally saturated you need to keep moving to stay warm so it motivates you, and the feeling of water running through my shoes was quite fun.

My weekend was nice and relaxing
Have sorted loads of stuff out for Japan, including buying gear for the Mt. Fuji climb.

I was disappointed by my earphones breaking, thus meaning I have to fork out 40 quid for a new pair.

You don't have to spend £40 on headphones.

But sure, I could spend a fiver and get a pair that sound tinny and leak sound out to everyone around me.

I spent 15 pounds on my last ones... they're fairly decent.

Not me, old boy.
I get more and more handsome the older I get.

A bittersweet tragedy
More and more better looking as you age, whilst you become less and less able to hold an erection.

Age is an enemy to us all.
(, Mon 18 Jul 2011, 11:18, Reply)
From what I've heard you no difficulty in holding an erection - in fact you can and do hold several at a time.

to make it easier.

A bit of albatrossing keeps you humble, Monty.

I have
Bet you're well grateful

Your missus is in them too. Is this wise?
Did she give you permission to disseminate her image in the public domain?

You look like I expected you to.
(, Mon 18 Jul 2011, 11:13, Reply)
I can't tell whether this is an insult or not
Yeah she doesn't mind. Am never introducing her to most of you lot, mind, with a few notable exceptions.
(, Mon 18 Jul 2011, 11:20, Reply)
It is merely an observation.
Very wise. There would be only so much sweating and furtive pocket billiards that she could take before she started feeling uncomfortable.
(, Mon 18 Jul 2011, 11:23, Reply)
My thoughts exactly
Plus she tends to take it as something of an insult when asked one of the vast plethora of questions pertaining to my supposed homosexuality.
(, Mon 18 Jul 2011, 11:29, Reply)
Are you aware that in all your photos
you're wearing exactly the same expression?
(, Mon 18 Jul 2011, 11:34, Reply)
Yes
It's called a smile. More specifically, it's called the only smile I've ever managed to muster for the camera which doesn't look massively dopey. There's a reason why only the photos featuring that smile made the cut.

I have
but then I don't really give a shit that people know what I look like.
(, Mon 18 Jul 2011, 11:12, Reply)
You're bald.

(, Mon 18 Jul 2011, 11:14, Reply)
Ooh, 12 observancy points there.
it must be hard to get anything past you, sir.
(, Mon 18 Jul 2011, 11:15, Reply)
This is true.
It's because I do not wear sunglasses unnecessarily. Thus leaving my vision unimpeded and as sharp as a hawk's.
(, Mon 18 Jul 2011, 11:16, Reply)
I'm not sure I'd classify
"wearing the correct fancy dress to resemble a certain aeroplane navigator from a certain outstandingly homoerotic Tom Cruise film" as unnecessary. It does't get more necessary than that.
(, Mon 18 Jul 2011, 11:20, Reply)
The sunglasses weren't your problem there
It was the lack of hair and moustache.
(, Mon 18 Jul 2011, 11:22, Reply)
I have pictures on mine

(, Mon 18 Jul 2011, 11:20, Reply)
Oh yeah. You caused me some embarrassment once.
My boss wanted to know exactly what sort of websites I felt were appropriate to be viewing at work.
(, Mon 18 Jul 2011, 11:21, Reply)
Haha

(, Mon 18 Jul 2011, 11:24, Reply)
you should start a new thread, where people have to link to a decent recent photo.
People love that shit.
(, Mon 18 Jul 2011, 11:21, Reply)
I don't know Chompo
It's an internet forum, I thought there'd be much more in the way of "here's a photo of me, be kind I know I'm ugly!" profile-beakering.
(, Mon 18 Jul 2011, 11:24, Reply)
That's what makes it so funny?
There was one on talk a while back which was one of the best threads I've ever read.
(, Mon 18 Jul 2011, 11:26, Reply)
I think it would just mean people
open Photoshop and do mean things to the pictures. It's what I'd do
(, Mon 18 Jul 2011, 11:27, Reply)
I see no problem with this.

(, Mon 18 Jul 2011, 11:35, Reply)
after you...

My boss has just given me half a bottle of Aquavit!
(, Mon 18 Jul 2011, 11:21, Reply)
If he insists that you "down it in one"
then the day is really looking up.

Although I wouldn't go to the gents unsupervised.
(, Mon 18 Jul 2011, 11:22, Reply)
Haha, if only!

(, Mon 18 Jul 2011, 11:25, Reply)
I only just got up
I am disappointed that I'm not a better person. The kind who does stuff and achieves things rather than making a pile of dirty tea mugs by the computer

alt: lots of people are, you won't see me near it, though

My lack of ability to go out two days on the trot.
I used to be able to do four or five days non stop. Granted I would hallucinate towards the end and then want to kill myself for a few days afterwards, but I could still do it.
