Just started reading Game of Thrones, 'tis good so far.
What are you reading?
(, Thu 25 Aug 2011, 16:36, 182 replies, latest was 14 years ago)
I'm going to finish Tinker Tailor Sailor Spy
before the film comes out.

Then I was also going to read Games of Thrones

I'm only a third of the way in but it has been really entertaining.
And it has midgets.

I'm reading some old E.F. Benson novels
they're pretty good. There's one that's crying out for a sequel but sadly it was written in 1922
(, Thu 25 Aug 2011, 16:44, Reply)
Not an author I know.
I thoroughly enjoyed rereading John Buchan's Hannay books recently - by jove he was a lolracist.
(, Thu 25 Aug 2011, 16:46, Reply)
He did the Mapp and Lucia series
brilliantly light and quite funny books, as well as several autobiographical ones that proved how completely and utterly repressed he was.

He really was a lolracist. Surprised they're still in print.
(, Thu 25 Aug 2011, 16:48, Reply)
'Kublai Khan' by John Man.
It's excellent but less interesting to me than his Genghis Khan tome.

Have a good one in London then didja?

or an insufferable twat kind like torybot?

(, Thu 25 Aug 2011, 17:29, Reply)
I'm a nice friendly socially liberal Tory
Or as Al would say 'the sort of fucking person who probably secretly wants to vote for UKIP.'

Al is wrong

Hmmm, not sure I like this.
I (no so) secretly miss Thatcher, you could proper hate her, this modern shower are all weak.
(, Thu 25 Aug 2011, 17:35, Reply)
I find it amusing
that amongst people over a certain age you'll find few who actually admit to voting for Thatcher. Yet somebody must've.
(, Thu 25 Aug 2011, 17:42, Reply)
definitely not me.
I wasn't old enough, but I genuinely do miss tories of her generation and before. I may not have liked them but the stood up for what they believed in and didn't pretend to be anything else. I feel much the same (although more positively) about Tony Benn and Micheal Foot. I really, really hate pretty much any modern politicians, they're all Tony Blair with miner variations.

/rant.

I do quite like Prescott.

not about education he doesn't.
What is relevant is that as correlation is precisely the same as causation, our schooling clearly made us both cunts. Plus, we likely were taught by some of the same teachers.
