Morning all
I do so love working until 10.30pm Friday - Tuesday then waking up at 5am. What is the best/worst thing about this week? I'm loving the "strike" today meaning I will be performing sunshine bus duties for 2 of our team

MORNING
I have the day off cos of the strike but I managed to wake up when downstairs lady left for work at 6.20, as usual. It's a right bugger, I was driving my brother's R8 in my dream, loving it. I'd parked at an Esso after stacking it into a hedge a little bit and was filling it with petrol via an empty crisp packet.

The BEST thing about this week is going up north on Friday, have I mentioned it, I don't think I've worn this one out at all, you see I'm going up north on Friday to visit some friends of mine.
The WORST thing about this week was spending the first half of it hermitised and hiding under my snuggly duvet.
(, Wed 30 Nov 2011, 6:47, Reply)
The BEST thing about last week was keeping busy for most of it and cooking a great big stew.
The WORST thing about last week was waking up on Saturday with a nasty fucking cold, the bastard.

The BEST thing about the week before was oh I dunno I can't really remember that far back it's all a bit of a blur to be honest.
These short days are doing my nut.

Morning. I have sympathy with this.
I would love more sleep too.

This week: helping a mate get the decorating done on his new house in Oxford on Mon & Tues. Got back to London at 10pm last night.

Up at 5am this morning - I have job interviews at 10am, 12pm and 4pm today. I also have to sign on (to keep my NI contributions up to date) at 2.30pm. All of these things need to happen in different parts of London.

I am then travelling back up to Oxford at 6am tomorrow, back late on Friday night.
(, Wed 30 Nov 2011, 6:59, Reply)
Good luck with the interviews chap, hope they go smoothly.

(, Wed 30 Nov 2011, 7:07, Reply)
Thanks matey.

(, Wed 30 Nov 2011, 7:17, Reply)
I CAN have sleep
But my sleeping schedule is so screwed up at the moment it's not even funny. I'm on night shift time. The only advantage is that the roads are much quieter, so I can do some peaceful cycling.

BEST thing - I might be going skiing with some friends this weekend if there's enough snow, and I've constructed a particularly evil version of drinking Jenga for a party on Friday night.

The best thing about this week was taking Monday off
and lying around the flat doing nowt.

The worst thing is that our Dev environment is unavailable at work so we're sitting around doing online courses and reading documentation. SO DULL. I'm glad I've started smoking again, it gives me something to do.

Morning
The best things about this week are that I had yesterday off work and I am also taking tomorrow and Friday off, in addition to this I am playing a gig on Thursday. Exciting times.
The worst thing is that, despite taking time off work, I still have to get up at stupid o'clock to get my son to school.

Alt: That depends on whether you mean amend the packaging so that it reads Bot Poodle, or if you are planning to defecate into a pot and present it to a colleague. The former would be mildy amusing, the latter would make me LOL (as long as I am not the recipient.)

Morning.
The best thing about this week is...um...well...it's pretty dull actually, sorry. I did pass 650 days sober this week though, which felt pretty great actually.

The worst thing? Yesterday I laughed at my bosses joke. We are going to Ping Pong for our Christmas dinner and he said 'Ping Pong, Merrily On High' and I laughed. I didn't even fake it, I actually found it funny. A little piece of me died when I realised I have the same sense of humour as my boss. I used to be a rebel, man, I used to be a rebel.
(, Wed 30 Nov 2011, 8:28, Reply)
Congrats on the milestone sir
That's some going. I'm probably not even 650 minutes sober.

(, Wed 30 Nov 2011, 9:01, Reply)
Significant only in that it made me think 'Woah, that's a long time'
and that at one point the aforementioned 650 minutes didn't even seem like a remote possibility.
(, Wed 30 Nov 2011, 9:10, Reply)

Best: Off to Holland in a bit, don't know if I've mentioned it.
Worst: My lucky pants (seriously) are dirty. Also I have a shitload of work to do when I get back Friday.

I fucking love it there. Where in Holland are you going?
(, Wed 30 Nov 2011, 8:48, Reply)
Amsterdam and we're off to Enschede tomorrow morning for the game.
We're getting a coach from Amsterdam to there, we booked with two separate coach companies and both cancelled on us because they don't do football trips. So my mate told the third company the reason for our booking was because we're going to the theatre in Enschede. "Oh good" the bloke said, "we offer 15% off for journeys to the theatre". I love the over trusting Dutch.
(, Wed 30 Nov 2011, 8:53, Reply)
Nice one
How many brothels do you think you can get thrown out of in Amsterdam?
(, Wed 30 Nov 2011, 8:58, Reply)
I dread to think.
I have literally no idea what to expect over there, I've never been and I've never wanted to go. I imagine it's like the foreign equivalent of Blackpool.
(, Wed 30 Nov 2011, 9:01, Reply)
Some of it is
Most of it is fucking excellent!
(, Wed 30 Nov 2011, 9:02, Reply)
I've told everyone I know I'm off to Holland instead of Amsterdam
The connotations of saying you're going to Amsterdam make you sound like a right nerdwell who loves smoking pot and annoying street walkers. And I only love half of that stuff.
(, Wed 30 Nov 2011, 9:07, Reply)
I think the main difference, as far as I'm concerned
is I've only ever been to Blackpool once and I will never return there. Whereas I have been to Amsterdam several times and would go back there today given half a chance. It is a lovely city, full of culture and nice friendly people and you can get stoned all the time. What more could you want?
(, Wed 30 Nov 2011, 9:08, Reply)
Why on earth would you not go back to Blackpool?
I've been there twice a year for the last four and am going again in January.
(, Wed 30 Nov 2011, 9:10, Reply)
Because Blackpool is the biggest cesspit in the world.
The thought of ever going there again makes me feel ill.
(, Wed 30 Nov 2011, 9:11, Reply)
I'm going to have to play the "Derby" card again
but I know you're right in principle. Although the Ballroom is still my favourite place to compete, I can't stand the fact that it's a) in Blackpool and b) they hold the competition in fucking January.
(, Wed 30 Nov 2011, 9:14, Reply)
What Baz said.
I would go to Derby again, although I don't really have any reason to.

(, Wed 30 Nov 2011, 8:51, Reply)
Yeah, good result last night
I can't believe we've gone from being cheated out of the playoff final by a bent referee to getting stuffed at home by Dirty Leeds in six months. Sacking Billy Davies is looking like the worst decision in footballing history.

Morning Cow
Best: I'm earning quite a chunk of extra money from my second job this week, and last night I cooked a rather good Lasagne (warning: rather large).

Worst: Got a hospital appointment on Friday, then after that I find out when I'm going in for my operation. I'm really not looking forward to that.

As for the strike, I find I'm neither for, nor against them.

Alt: In other words, shit in a pot?

That lasagne does look good. The requisite amount of cheese has been used (i.e. all of it)

What is the op for?

Ahh, that's not too bad then, sounds like a good idea!
I'm getting circumcised, not hugely looking forward to it tbh.

I only used half the amount of cheese I expected tbh, but I've still got a fair amount of bolognaise sauce left over, so might make a couple of mini lasagne tonight.

She says he wasn't joking, it was very small, and turned her off pretty much immediately. However, she knew that if she declined after that, it'd be pretty gutting for him, so went for it anyway.

I'm torn between sympathy and hysteria everytime she tells this story.

Best thing of today - got into work 20 mins earlier than usual because of the strike
I think we need more industrial action, for that reason alone.

Worst thing - my wisdom tooth is bugging the shit out of me, and it's another 9 days till I get it removed.

Alt: Yes, unless it's chicken and mushroom, as this is perfection and requires no further modification, not even a bit-dog.

Wisdom teeth are evil fuckers.
I have none left thank god.

Yeah it's coming in almost horizontally, so it's impacting on my next tooth along
They won't be able to tell if that's damaged until they taken the fucker out.

I went to the dentist in June, and this is me getting it out in December. Fucking wonderful.

All four of mine did exactly the same thing.
I was very lucky in that I was able to get them all out with no damage to my other teeth.

That's good
It's just that this has dragged on so long that if there wasn't any damage when I first reported it there probably will be by the time they take the chuffing thing out.

The sandwich van that comes around the business park here sometimes has chicken & mushroom pies
They are far tastier than they have any right to be.

The morning after I mean
I had an ex who went vampy sex-mental when she drank red wine. It was fucking great!

Me too.
No other booze gets me going like red wine.

I think cider has to be what gets me going if I drink.
Especially Rekorderlig. mmmmmmmmmmmmm.

BGB = Red Wine

Poppet = Cider.

Not that I'm taking notes or anything stalkery.

BGB and red wine can be dangerous though, ask the hotel staff

The company that makes the Balti Pies synonymous with
Football is based in Leamington Spa, the shop round the corner from work used to sell them. They were definitely in the category of "shouldn't be so tasty".
(, Wed 30 Nov 2011, 9:29, Reply)
Those chicken balti pies are also sold by the van
In my experience, they are exceptional hangover cures.
