Something for the evening?
We seem to be in a phase of evening dullness at the moment.
It'll change. It always does.

Shout "Osram" at them.
Apparently it means "I shit on your head" in Polish and explains why Osram lightbulbs never sold well in Poland.

I just made my stuffed chicken with a twist - goats cheese and scotch bonnet pickle inside. It was fab. I always get a lovely feeling of satisfaction after eating something I made myself from scratch.

It was billed as the JAMC's attempt to do Lollapolooza in Britain, but it didn't take off. The venue I saw them at was half empty. The gig could have been so much better with a packed house.
And JAMC only played for 25 minutes. As was their trademark, I guess.

I'm almost a bit annoyed at having shelled out £40 for the ticket since I'm not remotely bothered about the other bands on the line up. But still, 75 minutes of slayer is worth it.

I'm talking generally
There are some exceptions, largely depending on how much you love a band, or what genre you're seeing (three hour gigs are kind of required for space rock bands).
Some bands can carry off a longer gig - Pulp are mentioned up there, a great live band - but most bands could do with truncating their sets a bit.

I can memorize phrases quite easily
but my problem is that I have no deep understanding of the rules of english grammar which makes learning grammatical rules in other languages really hard.
I feel I would have been much better at french and german if I really understood what conjugating a verb meant in english before trying to do it in foreignese.

We don't really conjugate verbs in the same way.
I do, he does, they do.
You would know not to say 'I does, he do, they does' but probably not why.
And English has so many irregular verbs 'I go, I went' etc. We should really start teaching kids languages when they're four or five, they way they do on the continent.
Mind you, English will probably always be a lingua franca, so we'll always be able to get away with not bothering.

The other problem is that English is pretty versatile
And it is easy to make sense of terrible misuse of it.
Other languages tend to have fewer words, so context and sentence structure often matter a great deal.

If it's the stuff they make over in Rossendale, that usually goes out at about £5/kg wholesale. The supply lines for Croxley kudos are limited and not always reliable, so you could expect to pay anything between £2 and £50/kg for that. Rarest of all is Monmouthshire kudos, that's up to £100/kg and your maximum order size is 1kg.

No, we privatised so that the public could pay way over the odds an inferior and steadily declining service, and for governmental bodies to abrogate all responsibility for said service while still raking in the tax for it.

Despite being told last week I (along with 3 other FTC's) could apply for a funding officer role, we were then called into a meeting to be told the unions had got wind of this and objected very strongly, to the point where management decided it wasn't worth risking any long, drawn out grievance cases.
On the plus side, if our current colleagues succeed in their applications our contracts will probably be extended as a result to fill the gaps, and common thinking is that those who succeed in their promotion are unlikely to revert to their current grade.
