Right you poncy london types.
Where can I go for dinner in london Friday afternoon?
I need to get to the O2 for about 8, and I'm staying in Canary Warf.

Also Burger and Lobster, thinking about going there for Saturday lunch, worth it?

edit: I'm seeing Muse on Friday, blah blah blah Music thread.
(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:20, 113 replies, latest was 13 years ago)
I find this thread to be a little too London-centric.
And not entirely suitable for vegetarians.
(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:22, Reply)
You can get vegetarian dinners in london, I would guess.
Also I added a music alt for the people who like talking about their music tastes.
(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:22, Reply)
But not at Burger and Lobster.
Also, I'm not that keen on Muse.
I realise I'm just coming across as fussy now, but y'know, you could at least try to be a bit more inclusive with your threads.
(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:24, Reply)
NEVER HEARD OF A VEGI BURGER??!?!

(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:26, Reply)
I HAVE BUT APPARENTLY BURGER AND LOBSTER'S CHEFS HAVEN'T!!!

(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:27, Reply)
There's an absolutely tip-top veg Indian in Stoke Newington which comes highly recommended.
next time you dare enter the city of dreams I'll take you if you like.

PS when I say 'like', I mean 'pay'.

I ate at a nice Indian place in Stoke Newington when I last played a gig there.
I wonder if it is the same place...

(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 14:03, Reply)
Apparently London does host those who suffer from vegetarianism. The poor lambs.
Muse seriously are crap. really dude, don't go, please. They are utter shite.
(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:25, Reply)
They aren't actually crap
you just don't like them. There's a fairly significant difference.
(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:26, Reply)
Well no.
I'm right, you see.
(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:34, Reply)
Is it really that important to you?

(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:26, Reply)
Ok I'll cancel it now

Thank you.
You are absolved.

London is, I believe, "bent"
Is the O2 out where the dome is? in which case, hang around Canary Wharf, there are plenty of restuarants there. True, they will be full of cunted arsehole bankers, but you can't have it all.
(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:22, Reply)
Or go to Greenwich

(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:23, Reply)
the O2 is the dome, I'm tempted to go to Greenwich, but canary warf seems a bit shit for food at first glance.
well not shit, but you know overpriced poncy crap, not my style.
(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:25, Reply)
It's just the usual high end chains AFAIK.

(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:27, Reply)
It's awful round there. Awful.

(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:30, Reply)
See I would quite like to go up to Needos or get a curry while I'm down
but I think big curry with bring your own booze before a gig would be a shit idea.
(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:23, Reply)
I've had evenings severely hampered by ignoring this fact before.

(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:34, Reply)
I know a lovely little restaurant run by a mate of mine in Canary Wharf.

If you don't mind being a tight-scrote then there's an offer on Groupon
for all you can eat Brazilian barbecue meat for £14 (for two people) at Raizes on Hackney Rd. Right by my gaff. I've not eaten there but reports are OK. You can get to the O2 with relative ease via the overground from Hoxton Station.

EDIT my boss's wife assures me that Burger & Lobster is fucking great, and she knows her stuff
(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:29, Reply)
all you can eat before a gig is a problem as well...

(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:35, Reply)
Ah yes.
But for £7 a head......
(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:36, Reply)
Eating is cheating

(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:38, Reply)
Because all you can eat is a ORDER it's not some sort of suggestion.

(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:41, Reply)
Brazilian all you can eat meat jobbies are ace.
In fact meat is ace. Discuss.
(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:36, Reply)
I disagree.

(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:37, Reply)
We just got in some of this weird vegetarian super food stuff,
quinoa it's called. Why do you people eat this shit?
(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:39, Reply)
To annoy meat eaters.

(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:40, Reply)
but it doesn't taste of anything.
The texture is nice, and we've knocked up this lovely stuffed tomato avocado thing. It's delicious, but would be better with some wholegrain rice, or something with flavour. But for some reason, you insist on this tasteless crap.
Trying to make decent menus for vegetarians is hard enough.
(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:43, Reply)
I like bulgur wheat,
There. I've said it.
(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:44, Reply)
me too,
it has a flavour to it. Great with Confit duck as well, as it absorbs al the tasty fat.
(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:47, Reply)
Feed them meat sausages, and tell them they're made from soya.
Then let them into the secret afterwards. Imagine the hilarity.
(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:45, Reply)
LOL!!!

(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 14:06, Reply)
I don't think quinoa is exclusively for vegetarians.
I would be quite happy with wholegrain rice.
(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 14:06, Reply)
It's actually very good for you.
It just has no texture, taste or anything about it. Very sloppy porridge with a large amount of vitamins and good stuff. I like sausages.
(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:43, Reply)
I've been well into Pearl Barley recently.

(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:45, Reply)
I like pearl barley,
great to cook with, goes with anything, and is a nice alternative.
(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:48, Reply)
Plain meat is dull though, meat needs sauces.

(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:42, Reply)
I'd like to respectfully disagree.

Hahaha fucking hell there's not a sauce on earth that can help polish their culinary turds

(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:52, Reply)
That's the thing, the BBQ Buffalow wings are pretty ace, and I love the creamed corn. I'd say its the only two things they do 'right' on the menu.
And in both those cases, its purely down to the fact that they're saucey.
(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:56, Reply)
Oh look, is that a Nandos leaflette on the floor.

(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:53, Reply)
It's places like Nando's that convince me that vegetarianism is a good idea.

(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 14:07, Reply)
This'll probably make you throw up all over your keyboard, but the best thing they do there is Chicken Livers.

(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 14:13, Reply)
waoh, fuck that shit gonz.
some meat is ruined by a sauce.
(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:46, Reply)
It's not always the case, good meat doesn't need anything, but poor and average and even slightly-above-average needs some kind of sauce/marionade.
But even with good meat that doesn't need the sauce, the carbs on the side do.
(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:50, Reply)
okay, so you agree that all meat does not require a sauce.

(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:51, Reply)
Majority of meat requires a sauce.

(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:52, Reply)
if you'd gone with all meat requires seasoning, you'd be on solid ground.

(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:53, Reply)
One step further, not sauce, but condiment.

(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 14:06, Reply)
I concur

(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:59, Reply)
Do you like japanese? MoshiMoshi in Liverpool Street is good.

And because this was in the last thread and I think is a bit awesome, I'm copy'n'pasting it.
I got the power out at the moment, so I went to plug my laptop into the hall and they've got a different type of plug socket for the hoovers. So I asked my handy-man who's doing my kitchen if he has any idea, and he's built a converter for it so it turns into a normal plug.
(, Tue 23 Oct 2012, 13:41, Reply)
EDIT: Muse seem OK to me, in a kind of overblown modern prog rock style.
I understand that their live shows are fairly spectacular too. Not as good as Hawkwind's though I bet. Theirs is fucking great these days.

I am going to Hitchin to see HW offshoot Hawklords on Friday, fact fans.
